Excellence in Service

🎯 The quality of our service (the excellence in the way we serve) is equal to the kind of doors that will open to us - 8:39

🎯 The harvest that comes back is the function of the quality of the service - 10:03

🎯 The work is doing it, discipline is doing it every day, diligence is doing it well every day - 10:18

🎯 It is not just about showing up every day, it is about showing up excellently every day - 10:35

🎯 People who have a mindset of excellence are driven not necessarily because of the reward but because it is their persona - 11:05

🎯 We can cultivate the spirit of excellence - 11:42

🎯 The people that distinguish themselves and excel are the people that receive the mindset that we are all capable of having - 12:03

🎯 The first step to excel is the determination to excel - 12:44

🎯 A major part of it starts with your mind and your perspective of how you see service - 13:08

🎯 Work can give you opportunities for growth - 14:13

🎯 The mindset is knowing that you are serving and serving wholeheartedly because it is coming back to you - 14:34

🎯 For excellent service, you have to understand that it is not about you - 15:03

🎯 Do not serve because you are in a hurry to be at the top or always want to be the person that the spotlight is on, serve because that is who you are - 15:58

🎯 Be your best in all that you do - 16:10

🎯 Many times, people feel like you have to be in a particular position to serve, but, when you have a mindset of service, it does not matter who/where you are - 17:05

🎯 Service is about wanting to be your best no matter what it is - 18:53

🎯 People are watching the way you are serving, somebody somewhere is watching it, so be diligent at all times and not just when it’s convenient - 22:08

🎯 When you are in a space of obscurity, and you serve excellently, there is a way that God will bring you out of the obscurity into the limelight - 24:05

🎯 When we have the mindset that whatever we are doing is service for the Lord and also look up to him for our reward, then we should know that it is okay and our reward will come - 25:04

🎯 There is nothing wrong in expecting a reward for service, though it might not be why we are serving, but we should trust God that the reward will come - 26:23

GIVING THANKS EXCELLENTLY

🎯 When you live a life of excellent Thanksgiving, you recognize that every day is a gift and wake up each day determined to see a reason to give thanks - 2:29
🎯 You may not be able to change the situation you find yourself in, but very often, your attitude will be the difference maker in navigating the challenges that life brings - 3:13
🎯 Serenity Prayer: God grants me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference - 3:32
🎯 Serenity is a state of mental calm and clarity when you feel at peace in the present moment, able to focus on what truly matters - 4:29
🎯 Being in a state of serenity is the opposite of anxiety - 4:40
🎯 Acceptance means letting go of things outside your control. Worrying about things outside your power does not help to solve the problem. Instead, it can further compound the situation by putting you in a state of anxiety rather than serenity - 5:00
🎯 Courage means strength and determination to do what is within your control - 5:21
🎯 Wisdom means knowing what is within your power and what is not within your control - 5:41
🎯 For Thanksgiving to be meaningful, excellent, and acceptable, it must be communicated with the right attitude and can not just be lip service- 6:18
🎯Your Thanksgiving can not be complete if the recipient does not know the depth of your gratitude and your appreciation - 6:36
🎯 It is well pleasing to give thanks - 6:57
🎯 Genuine Thanksgiving and appreciation are not only pleasing to the one receiving it but also motivate that person to do more - 7:19
🎯 A lack of gratitude and appreciation leaves you feeling unappreciated and provides little motivation to want to do more - 7:43
🎯 Thanksgiving is the Will of God, and when you give Him thanks, you please Him- 8:59
🎯 Training your heart to give thanks does many good things - 9:54
🎯 Thanksgiving gives the proper perspective; it allows you to look beyond your present circumstances, puts you in God’s Will for your life, and positions you to receive all God has in store for you - 10:12
🎯 When you understand that God controls your life, your first and natural impulse would always be thanksgiving even when things do not go the way you want them to - 11:11
🎯Thanksgiving gives peace of mind - 12:22
🎯 Thanksgiving is the voice of faith - 13:42
🎯 A grateful heart is a faith-filled heart - 14:00
🎯 Peace comes after thanksgiving and not before - 14:49
🎯 Thanksgiving deepens your faith - 15:22
🎯 Keeping a record of God’s past faithfulness is a faith boost when you face new difficulties -15:36
🎯 Thanksgiving has significant power to bring joy and to break the enemy’s strength - 16:12
🎯 Don’t compare yourself to others; comparison is a trap that you must avoid at all costs; it can only lead down the road of unhappiness and discontentment - 17:11
🎯 Thankfulness is a key that turns situations around because it changes us, our outlook, and our attitude - 17:37
🎯 Thanksgiving brings contentment - 17:48
🎯 Contentment does not come from getting more; it comes from being happy with what you already have - 18:57

COURAGE TO EXCEL IN YOUR NEXT CHAPTER

🎯 The one person you will take with you on your journey in life is you - 5:34

🎯 If everything around you keeps going wrong, you may want to check yourself. It might just be you - 5:54

🎯 Sometimes we disqualify ourselves from living our best life, we tiptoe through life like we are trying not to wake anyone up when in fact it is us who are sleeping - 6:23

🎯 If you feel that there has got to be more to life than what they are doing, chances are…there probably is - 16:05

🎯 If you feel you want to do something else out of what you are doing right now (maybe a 9-5 or running your own business) make sure to have a plan B - 16:14

🎯 You should wake up every morning looking forward to your day ahead no matter
what challenge life brings because you know you are going to grow and learn - 20:23

🎯 At different points in our lives, we have different assignments and different roles and it is when we don’t recognize this, that’s when you begin to lose ourselves - 21:43

🎯 22 Keys to help you obtain clarity on your new chapter - 25:14

🎯 The church is largely responsible for where Nigeria is today and there’s many reasons for that - 16:45

🎯 The role that the church has to play in governance is; - 16-56

  • The church is the grooming ground for capacity for leadership

  • Support government in areas why government is not able to do everything

  • Speak truth to power -criticize and tell governments when it has gone wrong/commend government when they have done right

🎯 - To establish an excellent government, we need a hard core of people who understand what good governance is and they need to demonstrate boldness, commitment, unity and almost new determined to lose their life for this - 22:58

🎯 It is important that we exist in healthy relationships because our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health depends on it - 10:48

🎯 It’s more difficult for men to speak up because there’s even less support for them - 20:46

🎯 You can’t give from a place of emptiness, you can’t give what you don’t have - 22:49

🎯 It is important that we start with ourselves first, invest first in you and bring yourself first to a place where, if there are things you need to deal with, deal with them, work on yourself and become the best you before you connect with other people - 23:45

🎯 He who will have friends, must show himself friendly - 25:34

Excellence versus Perfection
Perfect/Perfection is the quality of being as good as it is possible for something or
someone to be - Collins English Dictionary - 1:40
Living a life of perfection is a constant pursuit as long as you are alive, excellence is what
you achieve in the pursuit of perfection - 2:50
Perfection believes that things can be better even when there is no logic basis for such a
belief but excellence is the recognition of your potential that leads you to believe that you
can indeed do your very best you know to do at any point in time and you have the ability to
do so - 3:01
Don’t let perfection get in the way of excellence - 3:53
Strive for excellence not perfection because we do not live in a perfect world - Joyce
Meyer - 4:01
Don’t be so focused on perfection that you fail to attain excellence which is very much
within your power - 4:21
The primary differences between excellence and perfection is the way making mistakes
and flaws is viewed. Perfection magnifies mistakes and shortcomings while excellence
paves the way for improvement - 5:58
Excellence is pleasure while perfection is totally unnecessary pressure - 7:16
Perfection will mostly lead to procrastination - 7:37
Done is better than perfect because perfect never gets done - 8:50
Done is not over, you can always go back to modify your ideas, tasks or projects. - 9:37
Recognize and embrace your imperfections - 10:48
Your imperfections makes you human, they give you character and make you authentic -
12:30
It is important to surround yourself with positive minded people who truly accept you with
your flaws and shortcomings - 13:25
The pursuit of perfection can be detrimental to your health and well-being - 14:11
The person who pressures you the most is yourself - 16:15
Focus on progress over perfection - 16:49

On episode six of The Excellent Life podcast, I am excited to have a conversation with my Husband, Father of my children, Pastor, Best friend and Business Partner to delve into the topic "Maximizing Relationships". We discuss our different relationships over the years and how we have been able to balance and maximize the different aspects of such relationships.
We discuss at length the order of priority as well as the advantages and disadvantages the different relationships we share have with each other if any.

We identify the husband and wife relationship as the foundation for every other relationship we share and getting it right as husband and wife makes it a lot of easier for the other relationships to succeed and thrive In other words it is the prototype for the other relationships that flow from the that primary relationship.

We examine the issue of conflict resolution and how to ensure that conflict in any particular relationship does not spill over and affect the other relationships in an adverse manner. We are totally in agreement that it takes love and commitment to develop a mature and satisfying relationship on every front.

We conclude that the key to maximizing relationships is a foundation rooted in God. A marriage relationship that has a foundation in God, is able to use the same foundation to raise godly children, function as Co-Pastors and have a trusting business partnership.

Pastor Matthew Matel-Okoh is a Pastor, Motivational Speaker and Entrepreneur. Called to the ministry in 1992, and has served as the Pioneering Pastor for parishes under the Redeemed ChristianChurch of God (RCCG) in Lagos, Nigeria and Kingston, Jamaica. He currently pastors Jesus House, New Jersey Family Church; a multicultural church where people’s minds are being renewed, and lives transformed for excellence. He is a man of great humility and has a servant heart. His passion is to encourage and motivate the body of Christ into maximizing their full potential by living a life of excellence through Christ. He is a visionary and uncompromising in his presentation of the word of God. He is currently the CEO of Paul Silas Communication Inc; Publishers of Inspiration Magazine.

I define living your best life to mean living the best possible life that you were created to live and living up to your God-given potential. It is a life that is purpose-driven and not possession-driven. I emphasize how living your best life is the most important journey in life.
I identify five things to be mindful of in your journey of life in the pursuit of your best life. They are; avoiding the trap of discontentment, avoiding the temptation to compare, recognizing that everybody's timing is different, true fulfillment only comes from within, and living in the present moment.
I conclude that your very best life is a life of gratitude, contentment, and satisfaction for where you are today and the faith and confidence that you have within you what it takes to be the very best version of yourself every day for the rest of your life.
I end the show with some powerful affirmations to inspire you to live your very best life.
