In our next podcast, Shado Twala sits in studio with Rheece "Moonjava" Kriel where they chat about where the name "Moonjava" came from, his contribution to the project, his travels throughout his life, and how his travels - especially India and its spirituality have had an influence on his work.
Lerato has a fine art and training background but found herself resisting traditional art materials which she perceived as mundane and restrictive. As her work is deeply influenced by religion, Lerato wanted to incorporate her spirituality into her pieces by using items in her space when she prayed and by using items from her shrine.
Stanislaw Trzebinski features in our next podcast with celebrity host Shado Twala. Stanislaw grew up in an artistically driven household in Kenya. His exposure to natural beauty, while he was growing up, has been one of his greatest influences. His contribution to the collection consists of a pair of bronze sculptures that are unique 1/1 bronzes as opposed to editions.
Shado Twala chats to Out of Africa artist, Michael Amery who previously worked in advertising. Michael didn’t enjoy being constrained to working 9 - 5 every day and would go home in the evening and draw comics as an escape.
He has come a long way since drawing comics and finds using new mediums extremely liberating and is a great way to expand as an artist. Michael has contributed 2 pieces to the collection.
On our next podcast, Shado Twala sits with Alastair Campbell who is one of our Out of Africa artists. Alistair works with a few different mediums with a history of working with traditional mediums including graphite and oil but in recent years has branched out into doing digital works.

Matthew has contributed 50 pieces to the collection which allows for more people to gain access to his work. He created these on a daily basis which became a daily practice for him. His aim was to create a body of work that was easily recognisable but at the same time completely unique from one another.
Shado Twala chats to gallery director, Charl Bezuidenhout who works with contributing Out of Africa artists: Norman O’Flynn and Kilmany-Jo Liversage. Charl is fascinated by NFTs and sees them as an extra tool that can be used to promote his artists and introduce them to a wider audience. He chats about Norman's contribution to the project, the Timekeeper series which he started in 2016 and is a reflection of the world he sees.
In our next episode, Shado Twala welcomes Claude Chandler who was exposed to art at a young age and grew up in galleries due to his parents being artists. Claude has contributed 3 pieces to the Out of Africa Collection and believes that NFTs have created an opportunity for artists in the digital realm to add value and a monetary aspect to their work which has always been a challenge for artists. He states that these new avenues are now adding value and will not detract from the old traditional ways.
Meet Musa and Phumlani who sit with Shado Twala in our next podcast episode. Both born in Soweto, Musa was exposed to fine art after school when he joined a photography institution while Phumlani was interested in art from an early age and studied art at the University of Johannesburg.

Diana started her art journey at Marvel Comics in London and thereafter got involved in photography and films. She has fully embraced the world of Crypto and NFTs and is extremely enthusiastic about the Out of Africa project referring to it as "a whole new world".

Kilmany-Jo Liversage creates portraits that intentionally blur the boundary between fine art and street art. Despite painting a number of murals over her career, including one for the 2013 Venice Biennale, she considers herself not a street artist, but rather an urban contemporary artist. Her rendering of female subjects is inspired by Renaissance era portraiture and, by adopting the language of graffiti or urban art, she updates, renews and challenges the conventions of painting.

Blessing Ngobeni was born in 1985 in a small rural town
of Tzaneen in Limpopo. At the age of ten, he moved to Johannesburg where, after a tumultuous decade, he entered the contemporary art scene — with a host of awards and international exhibitions already under his belt. Blessing’s artworks are a commentary on themes such as self-enrichment and the abuse of power — informed by his perceptions of South Africa’s current political elite.
