HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GETS INTO ATTACK MODE OVER THE PAST WEEKEND WITH A FULL SLATE OF ACTION IN UPPER EAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA OVER THE LAST WEEKEND OF AUGUST. IN THIS WE LOOK AT THE PAST WEEKEND AND LOOK AHEAD TO THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND OF ACTION AS THERE WILL BE A SAMPLING OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL DURING THE UPCOMING WEEK.
IN THIS FIRST SPECIAL EDITION OF SPORTS WITH DONNY WE LOOK AT WHAT IS POSSIBLY THE BEST DISTRICT IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF VIRGINIA IN THE SPORT OF FOOTBALL. THE LONESOME PINE DISTRICT WAS IN EXISTENCE FROM 1960-2012. THIS IS A BRIEF RECAP OF THAT SPAN OF 52 YEARS. OR IF YOU LOOK AT IT ANOTHER WAY FROM THE VIEW OF STATE TITLES WON WOULD BE FROM 1970-2012 AS 1970 WAS THE FIRST YEAR OF THE VHSL PLAYOFFS FOR EACH CLASSIFICATION. Well here we are another exciting year in high school football is upon us and Tennessee starts their season a week before they do in Virginia. I will give you a brief preview of the Mountain District along with the Cumberland, Black Diamond along with the Southwest District and then give you the predication of the games in Tennessee to open the season
