He currently hosts the Byline Times Podcast and The Liquidator Podcast, a West Bromwich Albion fan podcast. Family backgroundAdrian is the son of Rudolph Goldberg, a German immigrant who fled from the Nazi regime as a 13-year-old child with his 11-year-old brother Werner, thanks to one of the last Kindertransport arranged by Sir Nicholas Winton. Rudolph Goldberg's parents and other relatives were killed at Auschwitz concentration camp[citation needed] during the Holocaust, to whom he later erected a memorial in the Jewish section at Witton Cemetery. After serving in the British Army in the latter part of World War II, in 1950 Rudolph Goldberg married Kitty and had four children: John, Marion, Judith and Adrian. The family latterly settled in Northfield, Birmingham, where Rudolph died in 2012 aged 87.CareerGoldberg was a presenter of the Breakfast Show on BBC Radio WM. He also presented The Politics Show on BBC TV for the Midlands region, and was a reporter on the BBC TV consumer programme Watchdog. Unable to settle at Bury and frustrated by the lack of first-team opportunities, Jones decided to move to the Republic of Ireland and sign for League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers in July 1997, stating that Rovers manager Nicky Reid's offer of a full-time contract was what ultimately made up his mind.On 30 August 1997, he made his debut for The Bit o' Red in the league match against Bohemians, scoring just before half-time in the 2–2 draw at The Showgrounds. This record is that rock and roll band distilled into 10 songs.”“I had made a couple of records in a row in Nashville, and I was super happy with the outcomes,” says Hause of 2021’s Blood Harmony and 2023’s Drive it Like it’s Stolen, both produced by Will Hoge with top-flight session musicians. While they certainly had their muscular moments, those records were more in line with the Americana-tinged music Hause had been making as a solo artist. He ended up on several solo tours, as well as some duo outings with his brother and collaborator Tim, which necessitated stripping the songs back.But as he pumped electricity when playing those solo songs with his occasional band The Mermaid at his celebratory weekend festival Sing Us Home in Philly the last few years, he realized, “I was just missing plugging in and turning up. I was missing the energy that it takes to deliver that show.”While the former leader of beloved Philly punk rockers the Loved Ones has been no stranger to going to 11, it had been a minute since The Mermaid — whose current iteration includes brother Tim Hause on guitar and vocals, bassist Luke Preston, keyboardist Mark Masefield, and drummer Kevin Conroy — had done a proper tour. And they’d never recorded together.“This is the first time I've taken that band into the studio and been like, ‘No matter what, damn the torpedoes, we are going to sound the way we sound. I'm not going to Nashville and getting the murderers row of players. This is our sound,’" says Hause of the mission statement for …And the Mermaid.Nearly 30 years into his career, the collection also represents a number of other firsts. It is the first album in his solo career where the entire band has been invited to contribute to the songwriting process. It contains Hause’s first cover on an album of originals, a harmony-laden rendition of “Bible Passages” by Tim McIlrath of Rise Against — “I finally was just totally comfortable enough to put a song I believe in that someone else wrote on my record." This time, Hause is not doing it alone and is eagerly looking forward to taking these songs and his band on the road, plugging in and turning it up and reveling with an even bigger gang, his fans. He hopes those fans have a similar epiphany when listening to…And the Mermaid that he had in making it: that being part of something larger than yourself can bring a different sense of meaning to your life.“I hope people take away the belief that we can do things that are greater than ourselves when we decide to work together,” he says. “That's what a band promises. That's what a live music event promises. It's what a festival promises. It's what relationships promise. If you can work together, it's better than being isolated and living in fear. It's messy. It can be ugly. You're going to get into arguments. Somebody's going to get the last piece of cake and you're going to give that person shit but, hopefully, there's enough goodwill in the mission that you can forgive each other and know ‘This is greater than I could do on my own.’”

His father, Louisiana hall of fame guitarist of “The Boogie Kings” nurtured Marc’s musical gifts at an early age, and the vibrant Lafayette, Louisiana music scene gave Marc the opportunity to practice his craft consistently from childhood through early adulthood. After releasing a successful independent EP at age 20, Marc signed a record deal with Island Records. Marc’s song “Home” was successful at radio and catapulted him onto the national touring stage. Marc released multiple albums with major labels over the next 10 years but has recently returned to his independent roots having released multiple successful original and covers records. Amy Rigby has established herself as one of America’s enduring underground/cult/indie artists, combining the insight and humor of country and folk songwriting with classic rock craftsmanship and punk DIY spirit. Raised in Pittsburgh, schooled in late 70s lower Manhattan, she formed pre-Americana country band Last Roundup and Richard Hell’s favorite girl group the Shams in NYC's East Village before launching a solo career with 90s classic album Diary Of A Mod Housewife. Her music has been described as "like a declaration of faith in the eternal verities of composition” (The Times), with "a voice overflowing not only with ideas, but also with the discipline and artistry necessary to harness them” (The Scotsman). Chosen to be a featured composer on BBC Radio 3’s ‘Composer of the Week’ (Five under 35, March 2015), her works have garnered many awards, from the BBC Lloyds Bank Composer of the Year award when she was just 15 to more recently The RPS Composition Prize, The Mendelssohn Scholarship, and three Ivor Novello (formally BASCA) British Composer Awards (for Psalm 1 and Stolen Rhythm in 2010, and Scenes from the Wild in 2022). She has held the posts of Leverhulme Musician in Residence (at the University of Cambridge Psychiatry Department, 2008), Rambert Composer in Residence (2012/13), Opera North/Leeds University Cultural Fellow in Opera Related Arts (2010/12), Visiting Research Fellow in the Creative Arts at Merton College Oxford (2021/2) and Visiting Fellow at Keble College Oxford (2022). Cheryl was also one of the first recipients of the PRS Composer's Fund Awards, in 2016. Cheryl has released six celebrated CDs of her music, and her works currently feature on 28 other discs. Recent projects include Your servant, Elizabeth, commissioned by the BBC Proms for the 'Platinum Jubilee' Prom on 22nd July 2022 at the Royal Albert Hall. The work, which paid homage to both Queen Elizabeth II and William Byrd, was picked by Ivan Hewett in The Telegraph as the highlight of the 2022 Proms season: “like all the best “classical music”, it was fresh and surprising, yet rooted in tradition, and gave plenty of hope that an embattled art form has plenty of life in it yet”. Cheryl was composer-in-residence at Presteigne Festival 2019 and was Associate Composer at Oxford Lieder Festival from 2019-2021: her half-hour song cycle, everything grows extravagantly, written with poet Kate Wakeling was premiered by baritone Marcus Farnsworth and Libby Burgess in 2021 at St. John the Evangelist, Oxford and was chosen as one of the five best classical events of 2021 by The Times. Anne Elizabeth Hollinghurst (born 4 March 1964) is a Church of England bishop currently serving as Principal of The Queen's Foundation, Edgbaston. Moazzam Begg was born in the suburbs of Birmingham in 1968, grew up in Moseley, and holds dual UK-Pakistani citizenship. During his secondary education, Begg became a member of the Birmingham Lynx street gang, which was formed to combat persecution by far-right anti-immigrant groups. Begg attended Solihull College and then the University of Wolverhampton, where he studied Law for two years before dropping out.Begg became interested in Islam during a family vacation to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in his late teens. He returned to Pakistan in late 1993 and decided to cross the Pakistan–Afghan border to go to a camp where US-backed nationalist and Islamic insurgents were training to fight the Soviet-backed Afghan government. Begg admitted that he travelled to Bosnia in the early 1990s to support Muslims during the war after being inspired by the “mujahideen’s” dedication. He stated that he was “terrified by some of the reports... of the horrors taking place there.” In 1994, he joined a foundation that dealt with Bosnian Muslims. Begg also attempted to visit Chechnya during its battle with Russia in the early 1990s. While he believed that “fighting wasn't out of the question,” he claims that he did not take part in the armed battle but did provide financial aid to foreign militants. At the time of his arrest in 1994, anti-terrorist police allegedly discovered night vision goggles, a flak jacket, and “extreme Islamist literature” in his residence. Begg argued that the goggles and flak jacket were from his charity work in Bosnia and Chechnya, and he denied having any “extremist Islamist material.” Begg, according to his father, has been collecting military memorials as a passion since childhood.According to the Pentagon, Begg received extensive training at three al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist camps. Martin Dobson (born 14 February 1948) is a former professional footballer and England international who played as a midfielder. He was the first player to be transferred for £300,000, when Everton bought him from Burnley in August 1974.Playing careerHe was born in Rishton and attended Clitheroe Royal Grammar School. He was signed as youngster by Bolton Wanderers who spotted him playing for Lancashire Grammar Schools. However he was given a free transfer and moved on to Burnley.[2] He had a long and successful playing career, playing for almost 20 years and totalling over 600 league appearances while playing for Burnley, Everton and Bury.He won five England caps overall, four while at Burnley and one while at Everton. His first England cap was awarded to him by manager Sir Alf Ramsey (because of FA Cup commitments of other players) on 3 April 1974, a 0–0 draw against Portugal. However, he impressed enough to win four more caps that year.Managerial careerAs well as finishing his playing career with Bury, Dobson became their manager until 1989. During this period they were promoted from the old Fourth Division and became an established Third Division side.[3]Dobson was appointed manager of Bristol Rovers in July 1991, but was sacked after only 12 games in charge in October of the same year.[4] On 10 January 2010 he was appointed joint caretaker manager of Premier League side and former club Burnley, with Terry Pashley, after Owen Coyle left the club for Bolton Wanderers. However, Dobson and Pashley never managed a game due to the rapid appointment of Brian Laws. Laws kept Dobson on his coaching staff in the short-term as he built up his backroom staff. In my homemade studio, I would host talent shows, deliver breaking news from the neighbourhood and run my media empire!From that young age I was hooked, and over the years I worked in various radio and TV stations eventually ending up as a reporter on RTÉ, Ireland's national broadcaster. There I worked for one of the country's longest running shows, Nationwide, and the hugely popular TODAY Show.Then, then New York started calling and I moved to the big apple where I worked with various networks like AP, the BBC, and ABC. For five years I travelled across the US covering incredible human interest stories, many of them you can see and hear on my site.Today I'm based in Rome covering the Vatican and Pope Francis for EWTN, a global Catholic TV network and the largest religious broadcaster in the world. I also continue to produce content for the BBC World Service and RTÉ in Ireland. My reports/programmes today still lean towards human interest stories, with a focus on themes and issues around human rights, religious expression, and overcoming adversity.Someday, I hope to return to the shed and build a new studio. But while a huge proportion of any given congregation will likely have experienced menopause, it still remains largely unacknowledged, unspoken and unaddressed. It is almost entirely taboo as a topic of conversation in churches. After a career in secondary education, I undertook an MA in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Nottingham (2013) with a thesis on Marian Temple Typology. This lead me to doctoral study at the University of Exeter (2016) for a PhD in Theology and Religion. My doctoral thesis was focused on the emerging field of Trauma Theology and the ways this intersects with the Eucharist and the body of Mary. This work was eventually published as Broken Bodies: The Eucharist, Mary, and the Body in Trauma Theology (SCM Press 2018). After my doctoral work, I held a research fellowship at Durham University where I developed my theological research into bodies and their existence in digital spaces. This led me to a permanent role at Sarum College where I led an MA in Christian Spirituality. During this time, I began a new research project into the impact the experience of reproductive loss, particularly miscarriage, might have on how we construct theology. This work was published as The Dark Womb: Re-Conceiving Theology through Reproductive Loss (SCM Press, 2022). Alongside this research, I have continued to push forward the field of Trauma Theology in both the UK and internationally. This has included the publication of two edited collections with Dr Katie Cross—Feminist Trauma Theologies: Body, Scripture, Church in Critical Perspective and Bearing Witness: Intersectional Perspectives on Trauma Theology—both published with SCM Press. I have also written the first introductory survey of the field of Trauma Theology. I am the Academic Dean at Westcott House - an Anglican Theological College in Cambridge. Guy Edward Fletcher (born 24 May 1960) is an English musician, best known for his position as one of the two keyboard players in the rock band Dire Straits[1] from 1984 until the group's dissolution, and his subsequent work with Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler for his many solo releases. Bayes was ordained in the Church of England, made a deacon at Petertide 1979 (1 July)[6] and as a priest the Petertide following (29 June 1980), both times by Ronnie Bowlby, Bishop of Newcastle, at Newcastle Cathedral.[7][8] He was an assistant curate at St Paul's Church, Whitley Bay for three years (1979–1982). He then became a university chaplain in west London from 1982 to 1987.[3]Bayes moved to High Wycombe for seven years where he initially as Team Vicar (1987–1990) and then Team Rector (1990–1994) before becoming Team Rector of Totton for nine years (1995–2004). While he was at Totton, Bayes was also the Area Dean of Lyndhurst from 2000. Upon leaving Totton, he joined the Archbishops' Council staff team as National Mission and Evangelism Adviser until his ordination to the episcopacy. One individual who works tirelessly for the cause of survivors at General Synod and in many other ways is the retired lawyer and Synod member Martin Sewell. He has been an occasional contributor to Surviving Church and has taken a prominent part in supporting the cause of survivors, becoming especially involved in the case of Dean Percy. As a lawyer, he brings all his analytical skills to the table and helps the rest of us understand the legal complexities of the structures set up by the CofE. He was one of the authors of the so-called Micah 6:8 letter. http://survivingchurch.org/2020/08/12/letter-to-charity-commissioners-over-concerns-about-church-of-england-safeguarding/ This was addressed to the Charity Commission (CC) and drew their attention to the failings of CofE safeguarding processes. As far as I can tell, this 2020 letter was never replied to but it was a significant support to survivors in the way it articulated some of their longing for justice and transparency in the safeguarding processes.Recently Martin Sewell has written a further letter to the CC. In essence it is claiming that the CofE has gone beyond its level of competence in trying to resolve numerous failings in the safeguarding sphere. Its efforts to set up safe and independent structures to bring support to the survivor community are failing. There are two key case studies where these failures are explored, the Dean Percy case and the anomalies and problems for the CofE in setting up the so-called Independent Safeguarding Board (ISB).Sewell does not mince his words in the CC letter. He looks back over the last few years of safeguarding activity in the Church and finds that word ‘incompetent’ is a good description for what has gone on. He mentions the Matt Ineson affair and the Makin review on John Smyth, now 800 days late. More recently we have had the failures revealed in the Fr Griffin case and of course the never-ending Percy scandal. Martyn Percy has written a detailed complaint to the Archbishops’ Council (AC) about the many legal and moral failures in his case. He still awaits a complete response to the many issues he raised. What the AC have put in place is a ‘lessons learned’ enquiry from the body set up less that two years ago, the ISB. This was commissioned before the Chair of the Group, Maggie Atkinson, was required to ‘step back’ from her position at the request of the AC. Given the fact that Atkinson was the most experienced of the three (part-time) members of the ISB, it is hard to see how they are equipped to tackle the much-needed review of the issues in the Percy affair even if they had their full complement of members. Having lost their Chair, the ISB will find it difficult to function effectively even with the most straightforward of commissioned tasks. According to Sewell’s detailed analysis of the problems surrounding the ISB, the needed expertise is simply not there to undertake something as complex as examining the Christ Church affair and the questionable behaviour of certain clergy in the Diocese of Oxford.

The name is inspired by ‘A Testament of Devotion’ by the Quaker mystic Thomas Kelly, one of the first books on Quaker spirituality I read. Kelly writes ‘I’d rather be jolly Saint Francis singing his canticle to the sun, than a dour sobersides Quaker.’ I don’t want to have to make a choice, so I’m a jolly Quaker.A Quaker-shaped ChristianI grew up in a non-religious family, but intense experiences of spiritual joy in my late teens set me on a path of religious discovery. Joy was my doorway to the religious life. C. S. Lewis, another writer who has shaped my theology, said that ‘joy is the serious business of heaven.’ In the Quakers I found a community I could step through the doorway with, and became a member of the Religious Society of Friends when I was 20.The Quaker/St. Francis combination also speaks to my seeing Quakerism as part of the larger Christian tradition. I think of myself as a ‘Quaker-shaped Christian’ and a member of the universal Church. The Jesus story is how I make sense of my life and the world, and Quakerism is the lens through which I interpret the Jesus story. My theology has an ecumenical focus. I want to communicate a life-giving form of Christianity to my fellow Quakers, and offer the best of Quaker thought and spirituality to the wider Christian church.QueerIf joy was my doorway to God, then the key that unlocked the door was my coming out as gay. When I was able to accept my sexuality, and love my whole self, I was able to love God. My queer experience of the self, the world and God is another foundation of my theology. I find the Spirit of Freedom (2 Cor. 3:17) in queer spaces, on the dancefloor of the gay nightclub, and in the love of my LGBT+ community. My faith is also queer in that I fully embrace the crossing of boundaries and muddying of waters. I’m too queer for the Christians, and too Christian for the Quakers, so I experiment with creating a joyful blend all of my own, exploring other streams of faith such as Franciscan and nature-based spiritualities. Appropriately, ‘jolly’ was a code word for gay in the early 20th century, so I’m a jolly Quaker in more ways than one.

A youth worker, chef, gardener and Local councillor he went on to train as a Baptist Minister in 2013. He studied theology at Regents Park College, Oxford alongside reviving a dwindling 362-year-old Baptist church in Hampshire. ExperienceAndy was elected to the newly formed Andover Town Council in 2010, aged 20. He served the council in many capacities, including being Vice-Chair (deputy mayor) of the Council between 2013-14 and being the Chair of the Staffing Sub-Committee during the same period. He was also one of the main Councillors, along with Chair of Council Cllr Geoff McBride, to push for and form the Andover Youth Council. Andy was co-opted back onto Andover Town Council in January 2016 and then re-elected in 2019. Andy was the only serving councillor to be re-elected to the Council in that election. Maxine began her professional orchestral career touring with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and the Academy of St. Martins-in-the-fields whilst still a first year student at the Royal Academy of Music. She successfully auditioned for a place on the London Symphony Orchestra string experience scheme whilst at the RAM and became a permanent member of the 1st violins in 2001 after graduating with an ARAM and a 1st class honours degree.

Figen was born in Istanbul and moved to Germany at the age of two in 1963. Twenty years later, she moved to the UK for a new adventure. Now, a mother of five children and grandmother to five boys, she resides in a peaceful part of south Manchester with husband of 30 years and counting, Stuart. For over 23 years, Figen worked as a counsellor, a life coach and offered clinical supervision to other counsellors too. She has always had a passion for listening to other people's troubles - helping them get back on track to lead happier, healthier lives is a role she finds both challenging and rewarding.Following the decision to no longer continue her work as a counsellor, Figen is now committed to promoting peace, kindness and tolerance in Martyn’s memory, whilst also working towards tangible changes that can help to ensure no other family has to go through what hers did.Figen started knitting bears a couple of years before Martyn died. She originally started knitting to look after her own mental health when she developed hearing loss on one side - it helped to keep her mind occupied and prevent her slipping into depression. Martyn helped boost recognition of her bears in 2016 when tweets about the teddies went viral on social media. Her online Depop shop, "Imperfect Hearts", sells knitted bears with anxiety, OCD, schizophrenia and sometimes just mundane day-to-day issues that her customers can relate to. When we grow up, we often forget how to play, so Figen believes every adult should own a teddy bear to bring an element of playfulness back into our lives and help put issues into perspective. She has now sold hundreds of them, which have made their way across the world. Her book “Bears Have Issues Too” helps to shine a light on the mental health of adults through her professional knowledge as a counsellor and her more personal, lived experience. In 2017 she created Jordan Bear in Martyn’s memory and set up a Facebook page dedicated to his travels across the world.Figen is the force behind Martyn's Law, a legislation which will require venues with a capacity of 100+ to improve security against the threat of terrorism, train their staff with free online training provided by the government, and one that requires all venues have a counter-terrorism plan in place. This began in early 2019 in Figen’s kicthen as an online petition which received over 23,000 signatures. Since then, Figen has been working with a team of co-campaigners and meeting government officials and ministers regularly to formulate how her vision would be put into practice and implemented as law.During this time, Figen also completed a Master’s Degree in counter-terrorism which helped her to gain a sound knowledge base on what exactly was needed out of this legislation in order for it to work best. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Salford University in 2022, and additionally made a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Strategic Risk Management (ISRM).In recognition for her efforts within the security industry, Figen was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award at the 2020 Counter Terror Awards. She is also a member of the Senior Leadership team at TINYg.Her biggest and most proud achievement so far is being awarded an OBE in the 2022 New Year's Honours List. Whilst none of the work she does is done with the intent of self-gain, receiving her OBE made Figen aware that the work she does is being both noticed and valued, which is humbling and gives her the motivation to continue.

Father Alex Frost was not always a man of the cloth. He found his calling while running an Argos store in his native Burnley, moonlighting as a stand-up comedian and die-hard fan of The Clarets and Depeche Mode.
But having achieved his profession, Fr Alex quickly recognised the 17,000 inhabitants of his new parish were in dire need of help. Burnley is typical of many towns across Britain: a place of run-down council estates, severe poverty litter, crime and drugs, but also a place where the sacred sits alongside the secular in an intimate and personal way. And so it was that he found himself running a food bank from a car park, helping the desperate amid his flock as the pandemic raged.
Fr Alex’s down-to-earth style of ministry struck a chord with people of all faiths, cultures and class at a time when the divide between rich and poor is widening cataclysmic-ally. Graham Tomlin is a British theologian, author and Church of England bishop. Since 2022, he has led the Centre for Cultural Witness; he served as Bishop of Kensington, an area bishop in the Diocese of London from 2015 until 2022. From 2007 until 2015, he was dean then principal of St Mellitus College and is now its president. Tomlin was born in 1958. His father was a Baptist minister. He was brought up a Christian but became an atheist during his teenage years. He was educated at Bristol Grammar School; the school was at first an all-boys direct grant grammar school before becoming a private school in 1976.He studied English literature at Lincoln College, Oxford and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Oxford in 1980; as per tradition, this BA degree was promoted to a Master of Arts (MA (Oxon)) degree in 1983.He returned to Oxford to study theology and train for ordained ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He graduated from the University of Oxford with another BA degree in 1985. He later completed a PhD in theology at the University of Exeter on St Paul, Martin Luther and Blaise Pascal.[2] His doctoral thesis was titled "Foolishness and wisdom: the Theology of the Cross in Paul, Luther and Pascal".[6]Ordained ministryTomlin was ordained in the Church of England as a deacon in 1986 and as a priest in 1987. John Lowe MBE (born 21 July 1945) is an English former professional darts player. Along with Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson, he was known for dominating darts during the 1980s. Lowe was world champion on three occasions, in 1979, 1987 and 1993. He was also a two-time winner of the Winmau World Masters and a two-time World Cup singles champion. In total, Lowe won 15 BDO and WDF majors. He held the World No. 1 ranking on four occasions. In October 1984, he became the first player to hit a televised nine-dart finish.Lowe is one of only six players to have won the World Championship three or more times, and was the first person to win it in three separate decades; along with Phil Taylor, he remains one of only two players to achieve this. Jayne Ozanne is a prominent gay evangelical who works to ensure full inclusion of all LGBTI people of faith within their faith communities, and within wider society as a whole.She is Director of both the Ozanne Foundation, which works with religious organisations around the world to eliminate discrimination based on sexuality or gender in order to embrace and celebrate the equality and diversity of all, and of the Global Interfaith Commission on LGBT+ Lives, which she launched in December 2020 bringing together hundreds of senior affirming faith leaders from around the world.Jayne was a founding member of the Archbishops’ Council for the Church of England (1999 – 2004) and is now once again a member of General Synod where she is involved in campaigning for a range of issues impacting those who are marginalised and excluded. In 2017 she led a debate on the dangers of Conversion Therapy within the Church of England, which resulted in the Synod calling on the government to ban it.In March 2019 she was appointed to the government’s LGBT Advisory Panel, from which she publicly resigned in March 2021, highlighting the increasingly “hostile environment” for LGBT+ people and the lack of progress towards a ban on “conversion therapy”. In September 2020 she set up the Ban Conversion Therapy Coalition, which she chairs and which brings together survivor groups, LGBT organisations, faith leaders and academics who are all working together for a ban.She is actively engaged through her writings and broadcasts in helping religious groups develop and promote a positive ethic towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people. Defying the critics who had incorrectly labelled them as baggy the MBs delivered an absolute classic album of catchy, punchy songs, perfectly paced & well-balanced.The album received a maximum 5 Stars in Q MagazineDisaster struck with the release of their next single ‘Here I Stand’. Playing 3 times a day in independant record shops up & down the country for weeks before the release, the appearances helped the single achieve a predicted entry into the Top 20. The UK Record Industry however, due to the volume of sales from the shops played in, decided to ‘weight’ the single, fearing chart-rigging. The single missed entry into the charts (along with a planned TOTP performance) & peaked at Number 41.A&M bottled it & despite new material being ready for release that year – they put the band ‘on the shelf’ for 2 years and eventually picked the songs for their 2nd studio album – ‘Valve’.The album fared less well than Slinky, receiving average reviews. With a generally disappointing choice of songs, time has since shown that a dynamite second album could have been released, had the band been allowed to go their own way. A former bricklayer, Luke cut his teeth as lay pioneer minister in Luton serving communities affected by homelessness, violence and addiction. Luke is part-time priest-in-charge of the diverse parish of St Andrew in Luton and is studying for a doctorate in practical theology at the University of Roehampton, researching mission pneumatologies in the Church of England. Luke’s teaching passions include mission, liberation theologies, and practical skills for social justice engagement. Pete left Dexys Midnight Runners in Zurich at the end of an exhausting trans-European tour; returned to England and formed THE BUREAU.
THE BUREAU had top ten singles “Only For Sheep” and “Let Him Have It” in Australia and Canada, and toured Europe and the U.S. with The Pretenders. Their eponymous album was left inexplicably unreleased and overlooked in the U.K. They disbanded in 1983. (“The Bureau” finally saw the light of day with a release in 2005).
After a short siesta Pete, as vocalist, hoofer, raconteur and front-man, formed THESE TENDER VIRTUES with Fred Skidmore. Some called them “The Vicars of Vaudeville”, others “Dickensian nutters”. These boys, with hearts like the afternoon; completely and wilfully out of step with the mid 80s trends, gigged extensively and toured Britain. The E.P. “The Continuing Saga” and a single “Waltz” were released through Cartel/Rough Trade, but after almost a decade of continual recording, rehearsing and touring, Pete called it a day for THESE TENDER VIRTUES.

A manager of a local league club has been named the longest-serving football coach in the world.
Brent Peters joined Bacup Borough FC on 1 September 1997, initially expecting to stay until the end of the season.
But, 25 years later and he is still at the helm of the Lancashire club - not only taking on the managerial roles, but also those of the groundsman, repair man and also driving the team's coach.
He is now believed to be the longest-serving manager after Neil Cugley decided to step down as manager for Folkestone Invicta FC at the end of October.
John Spencer-Barnes is a former radio broadcaster and journalist for the BBC.
He was born in Dudley, England in 1961 and educated at Wolverhampton University. He began his career as a freelance broadcaster at BRMB in Birmingham and then moved to the experimental BBC service WM Heartlands in East Birmingham between 1989 and 1991.
He was involved in the campaign for community radio and was News Editor of the UK's first community radio station, Wear FM in Sunderland. He later broadcast with the Chiltern Radio Network at Northants 96, Chiltern FM and Severn Sound.
He was the launch manager of Welsh commercial station Radio Maldwyn and 107.9 Huddersfield FM in West Yorkshire. He also spent a period as manager of the commercial radio station at Freetown in Sierra Leone.
In 1994 he became News Editor of 97.4 Rock FM and Red Rose 999 in Preston, Lancashire. While at Rock FM, he co-ordinated the EMAP Radio response to the IRA bombing of Manchester.[2] The bomb had taken Manchester's Key 103 and Piccadilly Magic 1152 off air. He arranged an emergency news service for the Manchester stations and a replacement radio service from a studio in Preston.
His more recent career was at the BBC where he broadcast at BBC Hereford and Worcester, BBC Radio Berkshire and was the presenter of the Late Show on BBC Radio Lancashire, which was simulcast to BBC Radio Manchester, for more than a decade.
He is a Director of the Maritime Volunteer Service and the Director of Communications for the organisation. He is a Trustee of the search and rescue charity Bay Search & Rescue which operates on the sands of Morecambe Bay and elsewhere in the country. He is also the town crier of St Anne's on the Sea.

I’m grateful to serve as the host and producer of the show that has now reached over 4 million downloads since its launch in 2017. He was elected at the 2010 general election as the Member of Parliament for Enfield North, defeating the Labour incumbent MP Joan Ryan. de Bois then went on to lose the seat to Ryan at the next general election, in May 2015.

As a player Andy Morrison was a central defender who played in the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City. Although only playing 38 League games over four seasons for City he captained the club in the 1999 Football League Second Division play-off Final victory over Gillingham and would play for the club in three different League's. He is regarded as one of City's best ever captain's. He also played in the Football League for Plymouth Argyle, Blackpool, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United. Following retirement, Morrison became assistant manager of Bury, later having a similar role at Northwich Victoria and Airbus UK Broughton. He later had a spell as director of football of Connah's Quay Nomads before going on to manage the club for six years. Lesia Vasylenko is a Ukrainian lawyer and politician serving as a People's Deputy of Ukraine in the 9th Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada. Vasylenko is a member of the Ukrainian permanent delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union's Bureau of Women Parliamentarians. She is the founder of Legal Hundred [UK], a human rights non-governmental organization that provides assistance to servicemen and veterans.
Ian Byrne is a British Labour Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Liverpool West Derby since the 2019 general election. In 2018, Byrne was elected as a councillor to Liverpool City Council, representing the Everton ward alongside Labour's Cllr Jane Corbett and Cllr Frank Prendergast MBE. He continued to serve as a local councillor after becoming an MP, donating his councillor's allowance to Vauxhall Law Centre.[9][10] In 2022, Byrne stood down from his council seat and was succeeded by his daughter, Ellie. On 3 November 2019, Byrne was selected as the Labour candidate for Liverpool West Derby, after the previous Labour MP Stephen Twigg announced he would be standing down at the 2019 general election. On 12 December 2019, Byrne was elected with 34,117 votes. This represented 77.6% of the vote share, a reduction of 5.2% from the previous election (compared to a nationwide reduction of 7.9% in Labour's share of the vote). Byrne is on the left of the Labour Party and was a supporter of the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn. He is a member of the Socialist Campaign Group and backed his Campaign Group colleagues Rebecca Long-Bailey and Richard Burgon in the 2020 Labour leadership election and deputy leadership election. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Byrne worked with Fans Supporting Foodbanks to scale up food distribution in Liverpool and co-ordinate local efforts to produce personal protective equipment for frontline NHS and care workers. In 2020, Byrne launched a campaign for the Right to Food to be written into UK law. On 14 December 2021, Byrne voted in favour of the Conservative government's 'Plan B' COVID-19 restrictions, including for an expansion of mask mandates and the introduction of vaccine passports. However, he was one of 22 Labour MPs who voted against mandatory vaccination of NHS staff.

She was previously Rector of Ross-on-Wye, Walford and Brampton Abbotts in the Diocese of Hereford and was the first person to have made a gender change and then to be recommended for training for ordination by the Church of England.
In 2011 Jacob Dunne fatally punched a man in an unprovoked attack. As a result he received a two-and-a-half-year custodial sentence for manslaughter of which he served 14 months. On leaving prison Jacob found himself homeless, unemployed and struggling to get his life back on track. With the encouragement of his victim’s parents, he endeavoured to get his life back on track.
Steve began as a performer in 1976 on the Northern Working Men's Club Circuit in his home county of Yorkshire. After gaining a degree in Drama and English at the University of Birmingham in 1983, Steve joined the repertory theatre company at Theatr Clwyd. Later that year, Steve auditioned for a new television programme with caricatured puppets and so went on to become a foundering member of the ITV series SPITTING IMAGE, where he provided the voices of many of the programme's iconic characters for over a decade. Steve's work as a voice actor now covers animation, film dubbing, audio books, video games, children's television, commercials and dramatic readings.

Clark Datchler is best known as singer/songwriter in the successful 1980s band Johnny Hates Jazz. His most famous songs with the band include the international hits ’Shattered Dreams’, ‘I Don’t Want To Be A Hero’, ‘Turn Back The Clock’ and ‘Heart Of Gold’. ‘Shattered Dreams’ reached #2 in the US and Japan, and went top 5 throughout the rest of the World. It has now been played 3.7 million times on US radio alone. The album ‘Turn Back The Clock’ entered the UK charts at #1 and went triple platinum. To this day, it is regarded as one of the seminal albums of the decade.
Shaharzad Akbar is currently the Chairperson for the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission. She was previously Deputy on the National Security Council for Peace and Civilian Protection.
Shaharzad also worked as Senior Advisor to the Afghan President on High Development Councils (August 2017-August 2018) coordinating the prioritization of development projects and programs for high level decision-making. Prior to this, Shaharzad was Country Director for Open Society Afghanistan (Sep 2014-July 2017).
Before this, she was partner and chief operating officer with QARA Consulting, a firm owned and run by young Afghans in Kabul which she co-founded in 2010, an analyst for the Free and Fair Elections Foundation, and a journalist for BBC Afghanistan. Born in Jawzjan, Afghanistan, Shaharzad lived for a few years as a refugee in Pakistan during the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
She completed an MPhil at Oxford University as a Weidenfeld scholar in 2011 (the first Afghan women to do postgraduate studies at Oxford) after she obtained her BA (cum laude) in anthropology from Smith College in the U.S. Shaharzad’s writing has appeared in international and Afghan media including Washington Post, Newsweek and Al Jazeera, CNN, and academic journals.

After playing amateur football with Iraklis Ampelokipi, Konstantopoulos signed his first professional contract with Kalamata in 1996; he would go on to make 12 appearances in six years for the club, with a spell at Egaleo yielding three further appearances between 2001 and 2002. He moved to Portuguese side Farense after this, before joining Hartlepool United in October 2003. After making 117 league appearances for Hartlepool, Konstantopoulos opted to switch to Coventry City in 2007. However, he was unable to hold down a first team place, and, after loan spells with Nottingham Forest, Swansea City (twice) and Cardiff City between 2008 and 2009, Konstantopoulos was released in 2010 having made 31 league appearances for Coventry. He returned to Greece, spending a successful season with Kerkyra before switching to AEK Athens for the next two seasons. Following AEK's relegation, he was released at the end of his contract, and joined Middlesbrough in August 2013.
Internationally, Konstantopoulos made nine appearances for the Greek under-21 side, and made his full international début for Greece in 2011; this remains his only senior cap.

Kerry Ellis has fast become recognised as the leading lady of West End musicals from her starring roles in London and on Broadway. She has also achieved chart-topping success as a recording artist signed to Universal Decca with her debut album Anthems. Kerry made her first professional stage appearance in 1998 and went on to make her West End debut in the 2001 revival of My Fair Lady as an understudy for the role of Eliza Doolittle. Ian Collins is a British radio and television presenter and journalist and author.
Collins became a presenter on Invicta FM in Kent. He joined the newly launched Talk Radio UK in 1995, which later became Talk Sport. He presented the Overnight show, Ian Collins and the Creatures of the Night from 1995 to 2002, then the Late-Night Weekend Show, Ian Collins: Unbranded from 2002 to 2004, replacing Tommy Boyd. Collins replaced Paul Hawksbee and Andy Jacobs on the afternoon show from for a short time at the start of the Iraq War in 2003. In 2004, he replaced Mike Dickin on the mid morning show, including a spell co-hosting the show with Mike Parry. From May 2006, Collins moved on to host The Ultimate Late Show, which he both wrote and produced along with Alan Hyde. He then moved to the late night slot in 2008 after James Whale left the station. Collins also presented The Incredibly Early Breakfast Show.
In February 2012, he presented his first show on LBC. He left LBC in September 2018.
Between November 2018 and June 2020, Ian was a joint presenter of BBC Radio Kent's Breakfast Show The Wake Up Call with Anna Cookson. He replaced John Warnett who moved to the Drive Time Show.
During 2019, Ian returned as a stand in host on talkRADIO's weekday 13.00-16.00 show. and became permanent during the summer of 2020.
Jonathan is a wonderfully talented singer and pianist, capable of singing an extraordinarily broad range of styles. He started his professional singing career as an opera singer, performing to great acclaim around the world. However, he loved singing and playing such a broad range of songs that he gradually grew his own One Man Show alongside the opera and in recent years the solo shows have become his sole way of performing - a regular 50 dates in a year was not unusual. Accompanying himself on piano or guitar, he also used his comedic talents to keep people enthralled, inspired and highly entertained.
Over the years, I've been told I have a story to tell. A few conversations have occurred about potential with publishers, and agents but those who know me well, will know my struggles with writing and self confidence. However some people have inspired me to have a go and so, as with 'The God Cast, I am doing it my way to prevent disappointment and set backs. So I have written the first chapter of my autobiography which is available on my God Cast pages. It is also available as an audio podcast. If it is well received I will write the second chapter and if not, well.....

However, he enjoyed more mainstream success in the UK, achieving fourteen Top 40 singles on the UK Singles Chart between 1985 and 1996, along with three top five albums on the UK Albums Chart.

Jamie Hoyland is an English former footballer who made more than 400 appearances in the Football League and Premier League playing in midfield in the 1980s and 1990s. He then turned to coaching. He was assistant manager at Rochdale in 2002 and more recently academy manager at Sheffield United. His father Tommy Hoyland had also played for Sheffield United from 1949 to 1961. Tony Grant (born 14 November 1974, Liverpool, England) is an English former professional footballer and the current assistant coach of SC East Bengal in the Indian Super League.
As a player, he was a Midfielder from 1993 until 2008, notably spending time in the Premier League with Everton and Manchester City. He also played in the Football League for Swindon Town, Tranmere Rovers, West Bromwich Albion, Burnley, Crewe Alexandra, Accrington Stanley and Chester City. He was capped once by England U21 in his career.

Morgan is a young woman who as a teenager took recreational drugs. She was bullied terribly for being gay, even before she knew she was gay, this led to her severe depression. She spiralled into a world of heroin addiction and believed she would die young. Her Mother died from a prescription drug overdose and Morgan's world collapsed even further. She then supplied her best friend 'Justin' with heroin, which resulted in him losing his life. Morgan was arrested and convicted of contributing to his death. She went to prison, learnt to speak fluent Spanish, got clean and is now a campaigner and in full time education. Until 2014, Isabel was Political Editor of the Sunday Times. She left to write an unauthorised biography of Prime Minister David Cameron with the Conservative peer Lord Ashcroft. The book attracted global publicity.

Revd Nadim Nassar is the Executive Director and Founder of the Awareness Foundation. Nadim was born and raised in Lattakia, Syria and he is the only Syrian priest in the Church of England. He lectured in different universities in London, including the American Intercontinental University where he taught world religions, and London Guildhall University where he developed the 'Faith and Citizenship' seminar. Revd Nassar studied at the Near East School of Theology between 1981 and 1988. He became the editor of the Arabic Hymnal for a year in Limassol, Cyprus then went to Lattakia, Syria to be the minister of the National Evangelical Church in Lattakia which is a member of the National Evangelical Synod in Syria and Lebanon.
