There have been many prominent teachers like Deepak Chopra or Eckhart Tolle and others who teach us about the power of mindfulness and why it’s so important to incorporate it into our daily practice. It has many proven benefits from reducing anxiety, depression and chronic pain to improving sleep and reducing stress.  But it’s not something that comes naturally for us especially with the many distractions that take our attention and focus elsewhere. This is also true for our children.   In this episode, Shaista is joined by guest Rahima Khoja. Together, they discuss the benefits of mindfulness for children, how to incorporate mindfulness as a family and give scientific evidence as to how mindfulness can help us succeed in our daily life. Be sure to listen for : Why mindfulness is a super power What happens in our brains when we practice mindfulness How mindfulness affects our emotions and reactions How mindfulness can help our kids both socially and academically Specific strategies on how to incorporate mindfulness at home

About our guest To inform, inspire, and ignite is Rahima’s goal as she explores the realm of mindset growth with her students. Shortly after her graduation from the University of Calgary, Rahima relocated to South Africa, where her remarkable journey in the field of education began.  Her post graduate studies in Early Childhood Development led her to further develop her ardent passion for children and education. Her international teaching experience led her to teach children from diverse backgrounds and cultures.  With a strong foundation of over 15 years of teaching experience, Rahima’s desire to extend and educate beyond traditional teaching methods and subjects led her to completing her certification as a Wisdom Coach.   Now residing in Calgary, Alberta, Rahima continues to work as an educator, while also focusing upon helping children to develop a growth mindset of positivity, success, and confidence.  Rahima strives to lead our children to be humans of integrity, compassion, and strength, thereby developing their full potential. Today we are talking mental and emotional health, particularly managing emotions within the household as a family unity.  Some of us grew up in households where emotions ran very high.  We were not taught how to regulate our emotions, nor how to remedy and recover from incidents that involved emotional outbursts.  As parents now, our wish is to raise emotionally intelligent children.   How will you teach your child the skills for emotional literacy, self-awareness, social awareness, emotional regulation and agility? For those of you who have acquired these skills, you’ve probably done so through your own healing and personal development work.  Our guest today, Jennifer Hazan, has created a learn at home program called Cam and Leo’s Emotion School, that you can do with your children to help your family build these skills and transform the way you interact with each other and with the world.  Listen to learn more!  Be sure to listen for:        What exactly is Cam and Leo’s Emotion School and how the self-led program works for your family Why Jenny felt the need to create program How the program benefits the mental and emotional health of each family member         The long term impact of the program on future generations The scientific basis from which the program was created and the team that helped Jenny bring the program to life Examples of why the Will Smith incident at the 2022 Oscars makes this program more relevant How to become part of the beta testing for the program

About Our Guest: Jennifer Hazan is Founder & CEO of Cam & Leo's Emotion School, a unique experiential educational tool, rooted in the core principles of psychoanalytic and behavioural therapies, that tackles the mental health of the household unit. Household members gain awareness and control over the murky interior world of their emotions to unlock success, fulfilment, and joy in all areas of life: academic, professional, social, and interpersonal. This unique approach not only transforms the household; its impact is intergenerational, as emotionally equipped children grow to become emotionally equipped adults and parents. Participants build emotional literacy, self-awareness, social awareness, emotional regulation, emotional intelligence, and emotional agility and transform the way they interact with each other and with the world. Best of all... they have fun doing it! This program was created in collaboration with Jenny who wrote the program and Dr. Avi Gordon, a clinical psychologist based in Florida and curriculum specialist Talia Osiel in Toronto.  Beta testing is being run through a research project being facilitated by Dr. Lauren Saling at RMIT University in Australia.

Have you heard of Bioenergetics (BIE)? Bioenergetics is a complementary therapy used to optimize health and energy levels.  Practitioners of bioenergetic therapy aim to address the blockages that occur in the body due to stress, which can be from any source.    During this conversation with Robert Tomilson, co-founder of The Institute of Natural Health Technologies (INHT), we discuss how BIE can assist with multiple health challenges and restore balance back to the body.  Robert has been devoted to the field of allergy research and immunology for decades. BIE sessions can help with stressor-related symptoms such:  allergies, arthritis, headaches or migraines, digestive disorders, fatigue, hormonal imbalances, bowel issues, acne or rashes, learning disabilities, restless sleep or insomnia, bedwetting, phobias or anxiety, depression or moods, weight gain and much more!    Be sure to listen for: ·      The Disclaimer:  “The following information is not intended to diagnose, prescribe, prognosticate, treat any medical condition or replace the advice from a licensed health practitioner. Any suggestions are based on historic and traditional natural healing methods to help the body achieve balance and heal itself.”  ·      What is Bioenergetics (BIE) and what does a BIE Practitioner do?  ·      Why do we experience disease, allergy symptoms and food intolerances? ·      Some of the reasons your body is not responding to your supplements, for example, trying to increase your iron levels using supplements ·      Robert’s explanation for bedwetting, eczema and skin issues in children ·      Why would you or your child receive BIE sessions to address allergy symptoms or attention and focus disorders and what to expect ·      Robert’s peanut butter and dill pickle story ·      What causes yeast overgrowth in the body and what symptoms can arise from that ·      How Robert discovered bioenergetics ·      The use of bioenergetics in assisting with addressing life threatening nut allergies ·      What Roberts says to a parent who is resistant to trying any complementary methods outside of the mainstream medical system ·       What does the future look like for bioenergetics ·      How to get in touch with our guest, Robert Tomilson, and his clinic or another BIE practice across North America About the Guest: Robert Tomilson is co-founder of The Institute of Natural Health Technologies (INHT) and the co-founder of BIE. Instigated by a multiplicity of health challenges he faced, he began his research in the field magnetic therapy in 1980. His complete recovery provoked a study in a wide array of natural therapies in later years.   His devotion to the field of allergy research, immunology, electromagnetism and biophysics has given him insight into the root causes of disease, precisely, a disruption in bioenergetic fields resulting in abnormality/pathology. He and his partner Silvana Fazzolari R.Ac. currently operate from the INHT headquarters in Oakville, Ontario, Canada and conduct BioEnergetics (BIE) training programs across North America. You can find them online at https://www.bieclinics.ca/ (https://www.bieclinics.ca) and call the toll free number in Canada 1-877-393-7700 to be directed to a BIE practitioner in your area. The intention of our podcast is to help you feel calmer and more in control of your family environment.  The words that you choose in your everyday language can have a great impact on that.  We often take our words for granted, but the words that come out of our mouths at any given time can affect our reality, our identity and our mental, emotional and physical health right down to the cellular level.  Our words also have an affect on our children, ...their inner voice, who they become, how they behave and how they respond to the world. In this episode, we provide some examples of how to reframe common phrases used in parenting. We also touch upon how words can affect a child’s brain development and cellular health and provide you with the science that backs this up. Be sure to listen for: ·   The positive and more effective language reframes to replace common phrases used in parenting ·   How our words affect our child’s brain development ·   How the vibrational frequency of positive and negative words can affect our moods and physical health ·   The science behind how reading negative words can also trigger the brain’s pain centres.   ·   How the language around our bodies, money, describing ourselves and our children can make an imprint on their subconscious minds and ultimately the outcomes in their adult lives.
