Students! Achieving success means being proud of your efforts AND enjoying a healthy lifestyle in a balanced way. It's possible, we promise! We're two college girls who love school and gained a lot of tips and tricks so far. That said, we're still learning. Join us as we share and uncover the true secret to achieving balance in all things student wellness. Together, we learn along the way.
It's about midnight, but we're still logged in and ready to have a late-night discussion... healthy compartmentalization during finals is the focus for tonight! Also, we reflect on the importance of using your resources, especially once classes end and final exams begin. But that's not all! We also discuss our abandonment of the notes app for healthy texting, discovering random household pets, and the weird things we did in high school. It's a special one tonight, for sure!
Welcome to our first ever Afterclassers series, the STRESS-LESS SERIES! We are so excited to embark on this four-part journey. This week, we focus on the initial reason why we need this series in the first place... being a student during a global pandemic takes its toll out on all of us, and it needs to be addressed. We begin with a conversation about the student experience and then we explore our own experiences. What have we done that worked for us? What have we changed or added to our process that has helped us de-stress and focus? What can we all do better? Get ready for some hot resources, hockey, falling asleep in public (or wanting to), and more!
Welcome back! This week, we open with a few wonderful updates regarding The Afterclassers and what we've been up to! Then, we jump right in with this week's topic: what to do when you realize you need help in a class and how to ask for that help. We discuss the different resources and how we use them personally, such as tutoring, help centers, office hours, and more. Then, we dive into the beauty of the group study session and why we love group studying in general... even in a covid world! Finally, we will leave you with this: keep using those sticky notes!
Welcome back, Afterclassers! This week, we jump right back into things after our little break, and it was so much fun to be back. We dedicated this entire episode to answering student questions--questions about time management, choosing a major, ensuring that you don’t miss an assignment, and more! We had a fantastic time and we know you will too. XO!
Happy almost March, Afterclassers! This week we got our hands dirty sharing our best-kept secrets for accomplishing A LOT in a small amount of time. This one will save you, we promise. Ever wondered where all of the true knowledge to succeed in any class comes from? How to absolutely kill it with ANY group project dynamic? The perfect playlists for every type of study mood...or simply to recall those good old Disney vibes? We’ve got you this week...just like Miley had Lilly ;)
It’s another week, Afterclassers! This time around we are ready and willing to test out the morning routine philosophy. Do they work? What do they consist of? Is waking up at 5 am a must? We are starting a new experiment and we welcome you to join us. That said, we cover much more...how do we keep ourselves calm, cool, and collected when covid only seems to amp up the pressure of being a student? We talk all things channeling out surrounding stressors, the Pomodoro method, focusing on what counts, and taking legitimate time for yourself that doesn’t include Netflix or scrolling through social media. Also, look forward to more exciting extensions and apps we know and adore!
Happy (belated) Valentine's Day lovely ones! This week we decided to do a “giveaway,” if you will... of serious hacks. Ever heard of the “flow,” the camera crew complex, the energy-before-sleep mode, or even what it means to reduce your pages and pages of reading with one simple click? Neither did we... until today. We love YOU (and these serious student success tips). It's a match made in heaven! And we ship it. You’ll be thanking us later. XO
My goodness did we cover a lot this week… the secret to creating your perfect zoom study space, how to study effectively on the floor, why nature is calling us, and all of those big things that beg us to adapt to our new (pandemic) student lifestyle. Most importantly, we did what? Made some new friends?? Over Zoom??? Yes!!! If we can do it, you can too. Who knows...maybe discussion posts are the new notes we pass during class (although we will never admit to having passed notes, so don’t even try). All this, how to work and nap successfully, and more in this week’s episode!
Welcome back to the first few weeks of a new semester, lovelies! Rise and shine and get ready to GRIND. This week, we understand the truth behind the powers of Hermione Granger’s persuasion, and we dive into the details of saving up for every grade bump opportunity… starting at week one. To top it all off, we decode the matrix that is: what can I do NOW to set myself up for eternal semester-long success? Believe it or not, we all might be onto something here...
‘Tis the season...for a new semester?! We guess that means it’s time to talk all things mastering add/drop to design the balanced semester (yes, where you can have a life!!!) and discuss what classes to take, when, where, why, and how to find them. But, in addition to all the things we tackle as students, how and when do we squeeze in time to get the “real-world experience” colleges and employers ask for? All that, our favorite electives, and more embedded in this week's episode!
This week, we explore motivation as a necessity for success (who would've thought???) and how on earth one achieves long-term motivation at the drop of a hat. We’d love to know. Also, we learn what it means to “hack the social media algorithm” for our own success, the beauty of the group dinner, and how to navigate any dorm-hall debate...most importantly, how on earth do communal college bathrooms work?!
Meet Kat and Katherine! In our intro episode, we talk about all things who we are and how we came to record a podcast about high school/college student wellness. Listen in to hear about our favorite way to order coffee, how we support each other through it all, and what we mean when we say the term "successful student." We have a philosophy on student wellness, and you should too!
