The book "Dark Horse: Achieving Success Through the Pursuit of Fulfillment" by Harvard researchers Todd Rose and Ogi Ogas, explores how personal fit is the cornerstone of a successful career.  In the book, the authors share four elements that can help you identify your perfect fit.

In this episode, I'm going to explain one of the elements outlined in the book.

And, I'm going to share an activity to help you uncover the small preferences that can help guide you in your work. Grab it here: https://laurenmalach.vipmembervault.com/

In Western culture, we hold the belief that once you reach a certain level of professional accomplishment and financial security, you'll achieve happiness and fulfillment. Grind it out long enough in the law firm, in med school, on the trading floor, or at the construction site and you'll get there.

But many of us reach the place of "having it all" and we're not happy or fulfilled.

In this episode, I share: * my story of "having it all" (except the happiness), * the nagging question that prompted action, * the Happiness U-curve, * and, a question to help you get to the core of what might be missing.

Are you pursuing your definition of success? Or someone else's?

In 2019, Populace (a think tank) coupled with the Gallup organization to ask Americans what they really think about success. (Canadians: I suspect the findings carry over the border.)

The results are fascinating.

There is a significant gap between how we think society defines success and how we personally define it.

This gap leads us to measure ourselves against standards that are not our own.

And, from what I see in my practice, this leads to dissatisfaction and frustration, as well as a dip in life satisfaction.

So if you want to feel more satisfied at work and in life, you need to take a close look at what your personal metrics of success are and work towards those.

In this episode, I:

  • walk you through the research on success,
  • make a case for defining and pursuing success on your terms,
  • and share a question to help you find your personal definition.

Discover your personal definition of success by completing my Start With the End in Mind Activity. You can grab it here!

Imposter syndrome, also known as the imposter phenomenon, is a psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their skills, talents or accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a "fraud."

Feeling like an imposter does not lead to happiness and engagement at work.

It keeps you from contributing, learning and growing-- all essential elements in a satisfying career.

In this episode, we'll explore how to manage your feelings of fakery so you can move from doubting yourself to taking on new challenges.

Depending on your particular circumstances, it may not be an option.

Heck no!
