GOD’s Story–Who Do You Say I Am?--Mark 8:27-38
v. 27-33
- • We must name Jesus AND recognize him too o It’s not enough to just say it
- o Peter’s understanding of Jesus is worldly (Isaiah 53:12)
v. 34-38
- • Denying self begins with our conception of the Messiah o Jesus’ question is intentionally personal
- o Taking our cross looks like: ▪ Dying to a self-serving messiah
- ▪ Standing for what and who Jesus did (1 Cor. 15:31)
What did you discover in this story?
Big Idea:
- • To serve the Messiah, we must recognize him fully.
Big Idea: Our loving God gives us life when we are dead, mercy when we deserve wrath,
grace to save us when we have faith, and good work just waiting for us to do!

Being a disciple-maker is a process that may only be rewarded with very few moments of rejoicing for the disciple-maker, but an infinite amount of rejoicing in heaven.

Your adventure in Chair 3, the worker, begins with offering yourself as a living sacrifice, which includes discovering your spiritual gifts, deploying them in a ministry in the body and developing them to bear more fruit.

God asks us to believe in him and all he has done for us through Jesus. He's given us proof by raising him from the dead! When we believe, God gives us a new life!

Big Idea: If you are a seeker, hear Jesus' voice and his knocking and open your life to an eternal relationship with Him. If you are a believer, worker or a disciple-maker, love your neighbors intentionally and let God draw men and women to Jesus.

Big Idea: Jesus has called us! If we come and follow him, he will make us fruit bearing disciples who make disciples.

Big Idea: As a follower of Christ we are called to REPAIR the breach. When we encounter God and learn of Him, we can respond by not only seeing what is broken but by being empowered by His Spirit to repair it or bring it back to wholeness.

Big Idea: Life is a play about the struggle between Good and Evil. And we are the players. Fight for what is good! Use your life to make the world better! Do not be overcome by evil, overcome evil with good!

Big Idea: We will rebuild FCC together joyfully, each one of us doing our part humbly depending on God and sharing what God has given us with other like-minded kingdom players.
Big Idea: God sets us free from sin and separation from Him. God sets us free for a live of doing right and friendship with Him.

Big Idea: The further we get away from God's way of doing things, the more conflict, pain, suffering, sickness, sin, racism, fatherlessness, abortion, addiction, abuse, poverty, unrest, murder, stress, fighting, lack of dignity and ultimately death is what we have - BUT JESUS!

Big Idea: We are Citizens of Heaven, but we live out our citizenship on earth. We arrive at our moral conclusions from God’s Word, not popular opinion.
