We have two sons. Sebastian is 3, Francisco just 5 months old. I cannot imagine the emotional trauma my boys would experience if they were to be separated from Vanessa and me. But that’s what's happening at our border—forced family separations, denial of due process, imprisonment of kids and parents. To be silent while this takes place in our country is to be an accomplice.I'm headed to Washington, D.C., this Saturday, June 30, to join tens of thousands of people for the Families Belong Together march. It's one of more than 700 events around the country taking place where, together, we will raise our voices loud and clear and call for an end to family separations and the suspension of due process at the border.Click here to find the event closest to you—and please, please, please invite five friends to join in as well, by forwarding this email to them and posting about this day of action on Facebook or Twitter. Grab your neighbors, your extended family, and everyone you see and bring them along on Saturday.I am devastated by the news that keeps coming out. I'm heartbroken that this is being done by our government intentionally and in our name. This is a horrific strategy to terrorize families and criminalize immigrants, instigated by the same people who have ended protected status for people from countries wrecked by natural and political disasters. They have moved to ban Muslims from entering our country. They have said that domestic abuse isn't a reason to grant asylum. But even as we experience this heartache, I am also blown away by how we have come together at this moment. We are showing up to support these families by the thousands. Please RSVP to join me on Saturday in Washington, D.C., or to join the event closest to you—and then tell everyone you know to take part. We all need to be there so spread the word, post about this day of action on Facebook and tweet about it—and share this link: familiesbelongtogether.org, where 700+ events are listed. There's one virtually everywhere: in all 50 states, D.C., my beloved Puerto Rico, and more than 350 congressional districts! People of good conscience from across the country and across the political spectrum agree on this: Families belong together. We've got to make this clear to our government: Reunite families. Close family prison camps. And hold the abusers accountable. On Saturday, I'll be speaking out. Will you join me?Siempre,—Lin-Manuel Miranda

| | | Golovkin (L) and Lemieux) expect a all out brawl. |

Andrew RosarioFor someone born and raised in Karaganda, Kazakhstan while training and living in Los Angeles, Gennady (Triple G) Golovkin feels right at home when he fights at Madison Square Garden. When he steps into the ring Saturday night against Canadian David Lemieux it will be the 4th time he has fought at the Worlds Most Famous Arena. The Mecca of Boxing. Golovkin takes his perfect record 33-0 (30KO’s) and 3 belts into the ring against Lemieux 34-2 (31KO’s) who, after winning his first 25 fights, lost his next 2. Since then, Lemieux is 9-0, winning the vacant IBF Middleweight World Title defeating Hassan N‘ Dam knocking him down four times. The results of Triple G’s fights have been very impressive. He has defended his title 14 consecutive times. Golovkin has a 91% knockout rate and his fights last a little more than 4 rounds. The last 20 fights saw only 2 opponents go more than 10 rounds. If it sounds like Lemieux has his hands full, well he does. Given all that, Golovkin did admit that the fight will be his toughest to date something he acknowledged. “He (Lemieux) is a champion. A very dangerous guy,” he said. Meanwhile, Lemieux was coasting and piling up victories with 12 of those 25 wins coming by knockout. His first loss came at the hands of tough Mexican Marco Antonio Rubio (Golovkin knocked out Rubio in 2 rounds) who stopped Lemieux in 7. Eight months later, looking to rebound, Lemieux lost his WBC International Title in a 12 round unanimous decision against Joachim Alcine. He knew he had to regroup in order to become a contender again. “I had a bumpy road,” he began. “I did everything necessary and I’m proud of what i’ve done. It’s not by luck, it’s by hard work and determination and a lot of faith.”When Golovkin steps into the ring for the 4th time Saturday night he expects the crowd to be on his side. Something that gives him a certain amount of comfort. “I love history. It is very important for me and for my team and for my career.” Meanwhile, Lemieux knows that in order to come out victorious, he has to put the losses behind him. “I have to be on the top of my game,” he said. “I’m at my best physical condition and best mental aspect I’ve ever been. I’m extremely ready for this fight.”

Andrew Rosario One man’s misfortune, is another man’s opportunity someone once said. For a couple of New York Knicks who are looking to make the opening day roster, the pre-season injury to first round draft pick Kristaps Porzingis is giving them a chance to show head coach Derrick Fisher they have what it takes to make the cut. If the Knicks management and their fans had one concern after the announcement they drafted 7-3, 233lbs Porzingis from Latvia it was whether or not he would be able to handle the physical rigors of the 82 game NBA schedule. Zingis handled the summer league competition but that was against players with no NBA experience as well. Against team Bauru from Brazil, Zingis played 20+ minutes scoring 9 points. 2 nights later against Washington playing another 20 minutes, he registered just 7 points. Unfortunately, a nagging injury (strained left quad) has limited his practice time and he was not able to suit up against the Philadelphia 76ers this past Monday night. In his last year playing in Latvia, Porzingis didn’t miss any games due to injuries but he readily admits they did not play the same amount of games with the frequencies of games that are played here. “I didn’t miss a game last season and before maybe I missed 1 game” he said, sitting in his lockerroom. “It’s a little different because you only play once or twice a week.” Head coach Derrick Fisher said the team will bring him along slowly and rely on the medical staff to monitor his progress. "He strained his left quad similar to the quad injury he had in the summer in pre-draft, but just not as severe," Fisher said. "We're not nearly as concerned as we were at that time.” The next couple of days will determine if he suit up when the Boston Celtics come to the Garden Friday. With Zingis in street clothes, Derrick Williams, in his 4th year in the league and 3rd NBA team (Minnesota and Sacramento) scored 8 and 23 points respectfully against Bauru and Washington. In the first half aganist the 76ers, Williams hit 6 of his first 7 shots for 13 points finishing with 21 in the 94-88 victory. Kyle O’Quinn, a local product from Flushing Queens has returned home with hopes of making the roster. He spent the last 3 years in Orlando and averaged a paltry 5 ppg. O’Quinn scored 14 points in each of the first 2 games. In his second year with the team, Langston Galloway (11points) is hoping to make a bigger impact after being selected to the All-Rookie Second team. Galloway finished 3rd among rookies in scoring with 11.8 ppg. There are only 12 roster spots available when the season begins. There are currently 19 players on the roster. The New York Knicks clearly have taken a chance drafting Kristaps Porzigis knowing he would be a work in progress. They’re hoping his progress isn’t slowed by more injuries. If he is, the other players will have to show they can make an impact on a team that won a franchise low 17 games last year.

I had a great time with the cast of HBO Films’ biopic Bessie” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York yesterday. The evening’s red carpet premiere marked the end of the 22-year struggle for Queen Latifah to bring the story of legendary blues singer Bessie Smith to the screen. The project went through a number of studios and was for quite some time in development until HBO films took this project in and embraced it.

Queen Latifah shared with me that she enjoyed playing the role of "Bessie Smith" very much. One of my favorites on the red carpet was Mo'nique with her irresistible smile, positive attitude and humble personality she was a pleasure to speak to. She shared that this was her second time working with Queen Latifah and that she was proud to have seen her development in this field from her beginning stages. When I asked her what message she had for curvy women who because of the way their look have faced challenges breaking barriers in this industry she stated, Bessie was a curvy woman, Ma Rainey was a curvy woman, curvy women were in then and are in now you just have to take care of those curves."

Other cast members and invited guests at the red carpet event were Tika Sumpter, Tory Kittles, Bryan Greenberg, Mary J Blige, Amanda Warren and more.

Bessie movie premieres on HBO May 16th at 8pm ET. For more information go to: http://www.hbo.com/movies/bessie#/

Back in Spain and celebrating his Ballon d'Or triumph with his Real Madrid teammates, Cristiano Ronaldo is already being asked to do better.

Ronaldo, who beat Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery on Monday to win his second player of the year award, posed for a photo holding the trophy with the entire Madrid squad and coaches on Tuesday.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti called Ronaldo's victory "great publicity" for soccer, but then called on the Madrid forward to lift his game even further.

"To me, winning a Ballon d'Or means even more responsibility. It won't be easy to ask him for more with the numbers he's put up, but I will,"Ancelotti said. "I like what he does very much, he's always working hard to be even better. So this is a reward for all his hard work."

Ronaldo wept at the ceremony after ending Messi's four-year run as the world's best player by scoring 69 goals, including a Champions League-leading 12, in 2013.

"While this is an individual trophy, I've also won it because of the help of my teammates," said Ronaldo, who celebrated his success with president Florentino Perez and teammates with champagne on the flight home from Zurich on Monday night.

Ronaldo's teammates were quick to congratulate him on the club's first outright Ballon d'Or winner since Alfredo di Stefano in 1959. Luis Figo, Ronaldo and Fabio Cannavaro won the award while playing for Madrid but had joined the team late in the calendar year.

"We expected to win the 2013 Ballon d'Or," Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas tweeted after training, "your triumphs are ours, too."

The 28-year-old Ronaldo has scored two goals in three games in 2014 and will look to bolster his numbers on Thursday when Madrid travels to Osasuna for a Copa del Rey match after winning the first leg 2-0.

Fernando Arau was invited to the Telemundo program Muy Buenos dias from December 30 to January 3,which was very important because he reunited with some of the family members of Despierta America. Fernando Arau is a great character in Latin America due to his great achievements as a host, actor, comedian and television producer. En la escena had the great honor of having a phone interview after his participation in the program. This interview was full of charisma, one of his qualities, and he gave us some tips for this New Year.SE: How was the experience during Un Nuevo dia program and the reunion with some family members of Despierta America such as Ana Maria Canesco and Neida Sandobal?FA: It was nice to be with Anita and Neida, and with Diego Schoening. I was his first coach scenario when Timbiriche was produced a million years ago. I know him since he was a child. When I was in Ra Ra Cachún Cachún, the TV show program where I became famous, the director, who we called Godzilla, is the mother of Diego Schoening and we work together for about 9 to 10 years. So I know is mother as well. It was very nice seeing Anita, remembering old times and everybody welcomed me with a good attitude. I was very happy and it was fun .SE: How have your fans responded to your participation in the program?FA: It was as I expected. They talked about in all Social network platforms.SE: Moving on, I would like to talk about your online TV program Tenga pa’ que se entretenga. How has been the experience of having an online program? and What are the purposes for the program in 2014?FA: That program is showing a number of repetitions of 150 programs that I did in the studio. For now, I am not doing anymore online TV programs because I think that's a difficult business to promote and television is very expensive to do without getting any earnings. However what the program is showing is an exhibition of the television I want to do. I want to make healthy TV for the whole family with a humor that does not pollute. That is my proposal, this is the TV I want to do.SE: What are your projects for this year and what we expect from Fernando in his career as a comedian, actor, etc.?FA: Right now I am recording the Spanish version of an American series, where I will be the host of that program in the Latin version. I'm recording a season of 52 programs that will happen all year and this material is going to be in cable to be watched in Latin America.SE: We know you're still showing your comedy Matrimonio around the USA, When are you coming to New York?FA: I have all the information on mu page www.fernandoarau.com, where people can see where am I, and in what city am I doing my stand you even can check how to get tickets. My website is a very practical tool that makes things easier for me to communicate with my fans. Right now I'm still with the tour, this is going to be our 4th anniversary with matrimonio, a science fiction monologue that I did with the master Milton Sesenton from Puerto Rico, pianist, musician, and musical director. In this show I talk about the history of marriage, where it started and who invented it. Marriage shows how to be with your other half. Besides I 'm going to release another show called dulce, chili y mantenca about family unification, and family as a team.SE: Lastly, What advice you can give us and your fans for this New Year? FA: It is very easy to have many purposes in a New Year, but most of them are temporary like loss weight. During this time of the year gyms are full, but around February no one will be there. I did a very good conference about how to have an indeed purpose for a new year, the purpose that anyone should have to say it was the best year of my life. There are five points that are five activities that contain a real purpose:1. Leave an habit: We all have an habit that does not favor us, one thing we're doing all the time and we do it as an habit. Then one of the points to have a good year proposal is to leave.2. Complete a project we started it: We all have a project that we haven’t finished. Complete it.3. Restoring a relationship: When we know that we restore with someone, our lives will begin to operate in a different but favorably way. This is a difficult point.4. Breaking a relationship: We always create a codependency with someone. A relationship that does not suit us, which is unhealthy.5. Pay a debt: It is not just financial debt, but sometimes they are also honor debts or things we produce or we are responsible to do and we have not done it yet. If this year you meet these 5 points I can guarantee you that it would be the best year of your life. I'm here to serve, we’re here to serve the community, the world. We are two types of people those who serve and those who don’t do it.Thank you to Fernando Arau for this interview with En la escena.
