The Good and The Dad is about the society we are all living in. Dealing with race, inclusiveness and equality, our families and how we intertwine our worlds as parents, loved ones and strangers coming from all walks of life.
Please stay tuned for some amazing discussions with people I call friends, family and even strangers. We all have our personal experiences, good, bad and indifferent, but what’s important is that we start to LISTEN, LEARN and EDUCATE one another while being GENUINE.
I sit down with another old friend and her husband to discuss their personal experiences individually and collectively of microaggressions and what its been like for them growing up and in their current world living in LA. Stephanie and Juan also talk about what it's like for them as a mixed race couple, but most importantly they also focus on the positives and beauty within their relationship and what they have to offer one another, their families and those around them. John, like many of my guests is a friend, a father and husband. John practices law and is the Wayne County Assistant Public Defender. John breaks down for me his childhood environment in Detroit and what it was like for him as he got older and moved onto college and the real world. We talk BLM, life as an assistant public defender and what he wants to see as progress and change.
What an experience this was! I sit down with my good friend, Sam, to discuss what I feel people have been yearning for, answers. Now, by no means is this every answer people are looking for or want to hear from the police, but it's a start. One thing I continue telling myself is, Sam is just ONE police officer and human being out of many across this country. Sam was a road officer for about 8 years, 6 of those years he was a SWAT member and now serves as an investigator. Sam and I dive deep into policing in America, discussing the steps to becoming an officer, racial profiling, what Black Lives Matter means for him and for me. We also talk about protests vs riots and what the police are experiencing on the front lines in our communities. Even though Sam and I might disagree or have differing opinions on certain topics, we both believe there needs to be change implemented and we both want to see equality and justice for ALL!
I sit down with Dr. Khalil Carter Sr., a stranger I once met on a plane back in 2010. Khalil and I crossed paths for a reason and I think it's what we are doing today, to take action and speak up and out for the injustices being done to POC. Khalil is a doctor in San Diego, CA where he practices as an OBGYN. The stories he tells about being a black doctor are quite shocking, but are they really? Khalil also opens up about his tough parenting issues he faces and how he is finding a way, for his son. Music by: SYGR- Zone
In this weeks episode I sit down with long time friend, Jackie Grill. Even though it's been more than a decade since Jackie and I truly connected, SHE wanted to get involved with a discussion on the issues we are experiencing, so we dove deep into what Jackie calls the "naive bubble" she's been living in due to her privilege of being white in todays society. We speak on a high level overview of racial disparities within her healthcare field and discuss ways to make a difference. Let's bring more people to the table to have these types of conversations and Jackie is helping us do that by just asking about things she doesn't know, thank you Jackie! Music by SYGR- Zone
In linking up with an old teammate and friend, Justin Morrow, we discuss life in the 6 (Toronto, Canada) as a professional athlete. Growing up in Cleveland with two strong willed, faith based parents and how that set the ground work for Justin to raise his own family. Black Players for Change in the MLS (Major League Soccer) and what their vision is for it's players, fans and league moving forward.

Oh boy, it’s Election Day! I wanted to talk about my immediate top level feelings on this day, as I sit and wait. My votes in, my friends and family are doing so now, but what will the outcome be? I'm all about being true and genuine, letting people in to see who I am and what I'm about. This episode may not be normal well put together, well thought out recording. But, I wanted you all to know and hear it from me, the real me. I hope you enjoy!
