Trusting God is deceptively simple - obey Him even when what He's saying doesn't make sense. When He says things that challenge our sensibilities we find that trust is much more challenging. Much of our culture in America seems to be apathetic toward faith unless that faith is Christianity. It seems there's a special place of disdain for followers of Jesus that's only grown over the last thirty years regardless of what's happening in the country at large. Is it a shock that after forcing God out we reap the "blessings" (also known as consequences) of choosing to reject God? Just because the choice can be made doesn't mean it's a good choice.
Closing out our time examining what and how Jesus saw, we explore His heart when He saw Jerusalem, the capital of His chosen people. Does our heart resemble Christ's? Are we moved to intercession for those who are rejecting the good news or simply raging against them? Is there anything transformational or refreshing about us, or have we acclimated to room temperature? Stay tuned for this & more on the podcast today.
Jesus asks this question of His disciples and the blind man who come to Him in Mark 10. What we may fail to consider in the moment is that what we ask for and the way we ask say more about our relationship with God than we may care to admit. What do we really want? Is it what God wants? Is it what He wants for us? Stay tuned for more.
Faith/Trust. Without it we can't please God. Without it our works ring hollow. By it we are seen as righteous in God's eyes and identified as His children. Join me today as we examine what the Bible has to say about faith & learn how to live our faith today.
Preyed upon by hunters such as false messiahs, demons, compromised spiritual leaders, and hostile occupying governments, the crowds that came to Jesus wanted to know what He had to offer that was anything different from what they'd already seen. When Jesus saw them He felt compassion. As we disciple, what do we feel when seeing the crowds?
Some are fine, some are basic, but each has a role to play. That's right; today we're talking about vessels. What does the Bible have to say about vessels? More than you might think. Stay tuned for more!
Who is like the LORD? Dr. Michael S Heiser lived the meaning of his name. His life's work was presenting the weighty parts of the Bible in a way that was easily accessible for all. He loved helping everyday folks make sense of "Christian middle earth." He stepped into the Unseen Realm on Monday, Feb. 20th, 2023, at 3:45pm. We celebrate his life and his assurance of being in God's presence. Please pray for his family; he will be sorely missed.
Have you ever been tempted to "give in to your anger"? Doing so rarely leaves us without regrets. Perhaps that's part of the reason that James 1:19-20 warns against giving quick responses, especially when we're angry.
Today we'll be looking at communion, types of gatherings, and the apostle's gathering in the 'upper room' to see what kind of community God endorses. What kind of community should we be when we gather as followers of Jesus?
Claimed by many as optional or irrelevant, there seems to be a move away from church. Whether it's a particular style of church or organized religion in general that's being rejected we arrive at the question, "Do I need church?" Let's get into the Bible and see what God has to say.
Do the things we champion matter? Are the hills we're willing to die on ones that are self-appointed or ones that have been entrusted to us by God? The answer has implications, not only for us, but can also have consequences for those around us as well.
The past holds memories of both joy and pain. Marinating in either of those will see us miss God and what He is doing today. It turns out that in Jesus' day this same message was true, even reaching back to Genesis. Join with me today as we begin exploring what it means to forget the past.
It's one thing to hear that we're one in Christ; it's another thing to hear that after we've been offended. Surely there is a better alternative to Christ's family than being a part of the church... right? Wrong! While there's no heaven this side of eternity, we are called to build one another up and support each other. In Christ, we're better together!

Last revised and released in 2007, 'Overcoming the Dark Side of Leadership' has long served as a warning to those serving God's family of the dangers that come from being unaware of the dark side within each of us. Learning to recognize those areas where we are weak and prone to failure allows for maturity and and growth in us and those around us. Repress and deny these areas and risk staining God's name, injuring His people, and shipwrecking yourself and possibly your faith.
This book has questions at the end of each chapter, making it perfect for groups and includes assessments to help leaders identify and surrender their own dark sides to the Lord. A must for those raising disciples that are not ignorant of the adversary's schemes.

We're diving into Jude to learn about the pervasive problem of pride and how to avoid it.
As John begins to move into his letter, the theme of loving one another surfaces. Easy to pontificate about, why does it seem like division is easier to achieve than unity, even among believers? Although the commandment is not new, perhaps there's more under the hood for us to learn in the command to love one another than meets the eye.

Interruptions are frustrating. Just when you're closing in on the goal you've set - boom! Insert interruption of your choice; however, what if God deliberately allows for our lives and routines to be interrupted for a purpose? Not sleeping well lately? What if that refusal to fall asleep is God's way of trying to get our attention? We'll briefly look at a couple figures in the Bible and see how they handled divine interruptions.

There's nothing more frustrating, and possibly damaging, than not having the proper tool to complete a job. Not only could you break the tool using it wrongly, but there's a possibility of destroying the very thing you're trying to improve. People are like that as well. We see in scripture that God has a wide variety of metaphors for His people, different applications and environments for us. How do we know what to be & where?
