In light of Electrical Safety Week, our Engineering Team Leaders were invited onto The Citation Podcast to discuss the serious repercussions that employers could face if they don’t comply with electrical safety regulations.
Please note: this episode was recorded on 24 November 2021. All information was correct at time of recording.
This week, 22-28 November, marks Electrical Safety Week in the UK. This comes almost three years after a child was fatally injured at a local pub after becoming exposed to faulty wires on the outside of the premises.
This lack of electrical safety on this premises went on to kickstart the campaign for the Harvey Tyrrell Bill which aims to crack down on electrical safety in pubs by making it a legal requirement for pub owners to get their electrical systems checked at least every five years.
Local authorities will also be expected to carry out thorough inspections to make sure businesses are compliant and have their electrical training, documentation, and standard safety measures in place and up to date.
In our latest episode, Citation’s Health & Safety Manager, Michael Brown, is joined by Gareth Dixon and Matthew Wellington, two Engineering Team Leaders from our sister company, Citation Fire & Electrical
Join them as they discuss the importance of businesses ensuring their electrical safety measures are up to scratch and how a lack of understanding by business owners can put their employees and customers in danger. This includes: * The Electrical Safety Regulations businesses are expected to comply with * The qualifications and standards to look out for when hiring an engineer * Common mistakes our clients make and the myths to look out for * Understanding your electrical report results
