My podcasts will be on the history of Classical - 20th century Composers as well as harmonic practices during the 14th to 20th century. The aim is to make the history of Classical music more easily understandable and interesting to students of all ages. This will include students taking up Classical music for the very first time to more advanced students.
This workshop will further examine the correlation and influence of Wagner's most famous Operas and the Opera of Schumann as well as the influence of Wagner's Opera's on the compositional climate during the mid-19th century.
W.R Wagner (1813-1883) were known to be quite controversial character and composer regarding his political views. By many he was regarded as a musical genius with his developments in the Operatic field as well as the many alterations he brought about and embodied of how traditional harmony was viewed. In this short workshop, I aim to draw comparisons of the influence that he exercised through his Operas in inspiring other composers to approach this compositional style as well as his fascination with Germanic mythology, shared by many other composers in the years that followed.
This workshop will discuss the biography of Johannes Brahms, his most famous works and how the New German School of Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner influenced his life and the musical climate during the mid 19th century in Germany. This recording is largely unedited, apologies for the poor sound quality at certain intervals.
