From politicians, scientists, to teachers, and to even everyday ordinary people, Local Leaders explore and interview the many activists and leaders advocating for change from a wide variety of communities and diverse backgrounds in the San Fernando Valley.
Local Leaders is a Stand Up San Fernando production, a youth activist organization ran by student activists across high schools in the San Fernando Valley Region.
On this episode, we talk with Shervin Aazami, who is an Iranian-American, an immigrant, and a public health activist currently running for the US Congress for California's 30th District (West San Fernando Valley) on a bold progressive platform. We talk about his experiences so far as a political candidate, his platform, challenges he had to face, issues within LA, and so much more!
On today's episode, we talk with some students from Granada Hills Charter to discuss about the Thai Protests. We will discuss why it matters, what is happening at the moment, and why we should be informed. One of our guests is actually a outreach director at Stand Up San Fernando!
On today's episode, we talk with CSUN professor & astrophysicist Loraine Lundquist about her experience as a scientist & educator, her run for LA City Council, being a woman in STEM, as well as talking about issues surrounding climate change, her advocacy for homelessness, and so much more.
