I'm a tenacious mum of 2 young people who are neuro diverse and I have a Stutter which is great when I'm annoyed and trying to make a point, I'm sharing what's in front of us or was behind us and what we've had to manover to get where we need to be, I like to talk and as an over thinker I'm hoping this is both helpful and therapeutic ( maybe for me and you?) ada disabled woman in a world that's sadly still got a long way to go for equality but whilst attempting to support laying the path of direction I'm hoping sharing my challenges and successes will help others have an easier journey
Lots of conversation this week has meant i have spent along time over thinking and self reflection and speaking to others....... Whats your thoughts ?
Looking at ( or starting to ) the barriers we face, the social, medical and functional disability model's and what the impact of that is to us and society
A quick apology for the long break and starting to talk about ableism and how we need to adapt to be inclusive
Looking at systems and processes critically and being challenged for advocating on behalf of the most vulnerable, Why don't we all want the same and why are systems so dependant on outcomes at the cost of our children's and young peoples wellbeing.
Thinking about what we are accustomed to and what we accept it because we don't 'think' enough about it, we need to strip it back so we aren't accepting what we are used to!! We need to think actively about what's wrong in society and what's so unbalanced ( my comment about Domestic Violence wasn't intended to undervalue the situation or impact just highlight how its not accepted to victim blame )
Reflection is key but we can only reflect on what we know, however do we understand its not ok or have we accepted it because we dont know any different or we haven't realised YET !!
Reflection is easy for some of us and harder for others, I reflect far too much and it's a personal flaw, what gets me through humour, like many of us it's personal, I may laugh until my sides hurt at something whilst you barely crack a smile but why do we find things funny and why when life's difficult does humour and laughter make it better ? This all came after listening to an interview with a well known comedian that makes many of us cringe.
Like many I rely heavily on technology I had a mishap this week that created an opportunity for me to stop have a break and enjoy the time away but did I did I heck I did what we all do I panicked, stressed and then went into OMG mode I NEED my phone 📱
What a shock few day honestly, I've spent so much time feeling annoyed heartbroken, scared etc and what for ? With the intention I could feel better if we did this or that it the other, the truth is I need to start leaving something I can't control, I've been a dog with a bone and the best part is when I got to the end I couldn't gain anything anyway when will I learn to leave something be ....... Oh well at least I can laugh about it now which is surely a positive isn't it ?
I'm sharing my thoughts in why I started a pod cast now, I'm just a typical person and the idea of speaking out loud isn't easy for many of us ( more so if you have a speech and language challenge like me ) however I have alot of opinions ( oops ) and surprisingly love to talk so that's what this offers, this is a snapshot of 'why now?'
