Grief is real and a process, we don't like or enjoy.  When brokenness and matters of a broken heart require healing, you have to allow yourself to go through the grieving process of; shock, denial, bargaining, and depression before you get to acceptance.  What I know for sure about loss  of a loved one, marriage or job etc. is, it takes as long as it takes you, to feel it, work through it and once you get to the other side, its like turning a caterpillar (going into a cocoon) to reappear as a beautiful butterfly.  It's not fun, but you can get through it.

We are over 50, single and we are living and loving life! In other words we too are thriving. w/o a man "king".  However, that does not mean, having a man...a good man in our life for companionship isn't important to us,  because it is.  We are Queens, and have earned that crown, whether we have a man to call us that or not, because we know who made us and He made us beautiful, wonderful  We have loved, been loved and still have hope to love again, if that's in God's plan.  We have learned that every woman who s married is not happy, and we've also learned being single doesn't mean you are lonely and sad.  So many married women do not feel loved, safe in their home.  We appreciate the love and companionship that our married sisters are experiencing  with their loving and caring husbands who are thriving as couples. Those who are not, we love them too,  and are here for them as well. But this podcast, is about us, fabulous, single lades, thriving and loving life!

There are several identifiers that I am associated with; a Woman, Black, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister etc., I am also a Christian

Likewise, my daughter, is a Woman, Black, Wife, Mother, Daughter, Career Professional etc., she also is a Hebrew Israelite.

This podcast is a Mother & Daughter one on one candid discussion primarily for me to acquire some insight into the Hebrew Israelite perspective, which I have very little understanding of.  However, I have enough sense to know, that her walk with God is hers and not what I think, or feel it should be.  What I know, is We am not to lean on our own understanding, In all our ways acknowledge Him....and He shall direct our paths. (Proverbs 3:5 NKJ)

We are living in a time where there is so much going on, that it is keeping most if not all of us too close to the edge, the young, the old and the restless.

At no other time have so many elementary school age children have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. The elderly, also have been tremendously affected by depression and anxiety due to loneliness and other factors.  There are many culprits that are causing depression and anxiety.  It's not just the Pandemic, its racial tensions, politics, police brutality, inner city senseless killings due to our lenient gun laws, food, housing, medical and the list goes on and on, these are just a few.  The uncertainty of where we're headed, and how we're going to get there masked up and vaccinated or the alternative. None of us appear to be ready for this new normal.

Whatever it is, depression and anxiety will follow, and it affects the rich and poor, the haves and the have nots.  No one is immune. We need the proper tools to meet them both head on.

We are reminded of the story told to Ms. Battle as a child by her mother, of the man who complained about the hole in his shoes, until he met the man who had no feet.  There is always something to be thankful for. If you are  reading this, then you have sight....be thankful you can see.   If you can hear, listen to the podcast, and be thankful you can hear.  I think you get the idea.  Look around, you'll be surprised of how much you have to be thankful and perhaps grateful for.

The justice system in America is "What's on our Minds".  The system must be re-defined as a police system.  Funding must be re-allocated  to the community, schools and much needed social services that impact humanity, particularly as it relates to dealing with the mentally ill to foster empathy for humanity in general.  The U.S. does not need a militarized police force, that is filled with men and women that do not have empathy for other human beings, especially in the black community.  We must do better!  We must continue to fight to remove systemic racism in the policing policies in this country.

Our discussion takes us into the misnomers and myths of being a single parent. We discuss this topic based on our individual experiences.  The challenges and the rewards.  We know it can be done, successfully as long as you (single mom or dad) surround yourself and your child/children with love, caring and trusted individuals, faith and trust in God to support you in your parenting.  For the women we say, please do not trust your babies, your sons and daughters with just anyone, especially with every boyfriend you may encounter along the way.  Protection comes from you first.  To all single parents, you must provide the love, nurturing and protection before you ultimately receive the same from your child.  You are responsible and you to can raise healthy, happy, educated and disciplined children.  You got this!
