Woods has been on staff at First West church for 20 years, and is currently serving as their Adults Pastor. Last summer Dr. Woods Watson came out with his latest book "Northeast Louisiana: A Community of Innovations". It tells the tales of 20 different interesting and innovative people that either made a mark in Northeast Louisiana or the world. It's definitely a gem for any native northeast Louisiana to have.
His previous book is more on the religious side of things, offering insights and points to ponder on the reasons why we endure suffering.

Chris Craighead Jr. is currently the College Pastor at North Monroe Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana. In today's episode we'll unveil a trauma that he experienced as a child and how that event has impacted his life into adulthood.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 says, "We are afflicted in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed."
I think these verses most accurately depict Chris's journey of faith as he processed the tragic loss of his sister, Caroline at just 9 years old.

Pride comes before the fall as scripture says in Proverbs 16:18. Just when we think we got it all figured out, God shows us different.
And sometimes God moves us from our comfort zones for our own good. To mold us into something better. It's often because we fail to see that we have something to work on...so He brings us somewhere where we can see it.
As Aimee put it, "He will move mountains to sanctify us."
Today's story is a story about learning to trust in God's plan and not our own. A story about unveiling one's pride, so that the need for humility can be seen.

Welcome back to the Up From The Muck Podcast! This episode teaches us about trusting in faith during difficult times and features Kaiti McFarland, a pastor’s wife and mom of three incredible children – including twins born at just 25 weeks.
We discuss Kaiti’s journey from the preparation leading up to becoming pregnant through IVF to how they leaned on God to get them through giving birth at just 25 weeks. She speaks about the hardest parts of their journey, being told their babies had a 50% chance of survival, not being able to hold their babes for weeks and leaving their babies every night for nearly 4 months.

Times may have changed, but for women an unplanned pregnancy can still leave one feeling like the “least of these” with no hope and too many hard choices in sight.

We've celebrated our mothers, now it's time to champion our fathers as well. In part 2 of our Fatherhood series you will hear from, Spencer Hutchinson. He talks of being a dad that not only strives to provide his children with physical safety, but to be a safe place for his daughters emotionally and spiritually. His approach to discipline might be considered counter-cultural to some, where he leads with grace instead of intimidation, and provides wide boundaries for self-discovery.
