The CROC Podcast is a weekly program hosted by Dr. Thomas Eanelli whose sole purpose is to support cancer survivors and their families who strive to “turn tragedy into triumph.”
I want you to forget everything about your cancer.
I want you to start with a blank slate.
CROC is a not so much a thing but rather a movement for survivors to gather, to learn, to be nourished and to connect and for a brief moment, forget about the future and focus on the now!
In 1999, I tried an experiment based on my observation of the interactions between my patients. I took a leap a faith and started something who’s power to soothe, who’s potential to cure, and who’s capacity to find light in darkness, joy in sorrow, laughter in fear was completely unexpected.
Together we turned tragedy into triumph.
And now I’d like to share with you the stories that have inspired me over the past two decades.

New Shoes
In the iconic 1946 Life Magazine photograph of a young post war European orphan clutching a pair of new shoes with the penultimate look of joy and gratitude, an entire world had this vision burned into their memory forever as a reminder to be always aware of their blessings and abundance.

It's Only 2 More Days: What's The Big Deal?
This week Angel and Dr E pull the curtain back once again to give our Survivor/Thrivers a "behind the scenes" glimpse of what goes on inside the black box of treatment preparation.
Between all the intricate complexities and nuances of each case; the horrors of insurance authorization, and finally the prospective presentation to a multidisciplinary Tumor Board which gives the treatment consensus; it is understandable that the plan that we describe to a patient at the time of consultation is rarely the plan the patient will receive.
And there is nothing wrong with that; unless the medical team forgets to circle back to tell the patient!!!!!!

Salute To Service/July 4th Special
This episode is of course dedicated to all of our Survivor/Thrivers who served in the military; but especially to our Vietnam vets who:
- Got shipped off to the other side of the planet to endure unspeakable hardship
- Had to fight an invisible enemy in a war that was unpopular at best, if not downright unnecessary, not winnable, and unsupported by their own countryman
- Came home after all the horror not to parades but protests, shouts of hatred instead of love, spittle instead of kisses, and ingratitude instead of appreciation.
- Last but not least, became ticking cancer time bombs because of exposure to a pesticide their own government proclaimed to be safe

That would include weight, temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, pulse oximeter, EKG and probably some routine blood work.
These seemingly simple and innocuous numbers and data can sometimes be the first clues to an impending catastrophe.

So, you have agreed a change in your life is needed.
You've chosen a vehicle like yoga, bought a gym membership, bought a peloton, or joined a softball team.
You've realized that eating a gallon of ice cream 30 minutes before bed May not be the best idea.
And you have reluctantly agreed to do 5-6 days of 30-60 minute per day movement, 150 minutes of high intensity orange zone heart rate craziness and incorporate weight/resistance training.

We promise you will be mesmerized by Ramon's testimony and historical journey from a small hill town in Puerto Rico, to the New York City barrio and the south Bronx.
Through Ramon's lens we relive the Kennedy-Johnson civil rights agenda, the marches and speeches of Martin Luther king, his battles with the FBI as a conscientious objector, champion of enrollment of minorities into the SUNY college system, and finally his most impactful legacy of helping to rebuild the south Bronx from a ground zero war zone to respectable low income housing for the oppressed, underserved and abandoned. His story is so unbelievable that it was recounted on national television, and capped by a personal visit from President Carter and a visit to the White House. You can't make this stuff up!
