We'll discuss subjects as diverse as why Brexit caused a fuel shortage in Lebanon. Which politician could best serve their countries by retiring? Why 9mm versus .45 ACP is the wrong question. How, after 116 years of business, Harley Davidson has only just started making decent motorcycles? Electricity is cool but are batteries really the future? Do women even like men anymore?
In truth we're just 3 people with disparate backgrounds and experience trying, in good faith, to use those differences to make sense of this mad mad mad world
Today, for...reasons, we're talking about the Spanish Civil War. The boys promised me that we'd get to the modern contextual reasons for this, but time constraints and our pathological need for digression have insured that there will be a part 2. Be warned.

Shrinking populations means serious economic woes ahead as smaller generations of children will be unable to support the benefits promised to their parents, and this problem gets worse as subsequent generations become smaller and smaller. The proper functioning of our western liberal democracies and indeed our societies, seem to depend on good faith to continue functioning in good order. What does the death of good faith mean for us going forward? Will we be able to function as free societies if good faith is lost completely? Welcome to the inaugural episode of Radio Free Ortona. We're 3 people with some stuff in common and some stuff that gives us different perspectives, which is why there's 3 of us instead of 1 of us. We know that the sense making infrastructure is broken, and 3 middle aged bald assholes aren't going to fix it. But maybe we can, in our own small way, contribute to helping everyone try to make sense of the world. The binary nature of most mainstream narratives is woefully inadequate for understanding any issue. Our hope is to explore the issues of the day and discover their complex depths. Hopefully we can relay some of this complexity to you. We're not going to lie to you, if you came here looking for answers, you're in the wrong place. We don't have any. But if we hash this stuff out long enough, we might at least come up with some better questions. This week we try, and mostly fail, to figure out what's wrong with higher education. Are students being served by what they're being taught at today's institutions of higher learning? Is society? What happens when you create a class of highly-educated under-employed people with five and six figure debt loads and few prospects for being able to earn enough to pay that off.
