Meet Phalyn! A Mindful Boss Academy client, local Winnipegger and friend, professional intuitive and tarot card reader. She’s also a mother to two boys, a gut-follower and a rule breaker.

She brings humour and fun into spirituality and is on a mission to help women acknowledge, hear and trust the messages they get from their highest self.

I’ve personally been on the receiving end of Phalyn’s readings and let me just say … she is scary accurate. In this episode she gives a collective reading into the energy of 2023. You are going to LOVE this chat!

We touch on:

  • Once you start to lean into your intuition … you’ll never be the same again. You’ll never go back to the person you were before.

  • What “being spiritual” actually means and how to become more in touch with this aspect of yourself.

  • Life is cyclical: you’re not meant to be in summer all of the time. We must go through periods of being planted (in darkness), in bloom and in harvest. We relate this back to our cycles as women, our dreams and goals and our day-to-day work in our business.

  • Motherhood as a spiritual journey and the implications of this role in mainstream society.

  • Phalyn’s journey of developing her intuitive abilities, her family history of healing and how tarot cards became the direct line to her highest self.

  • Spin Your Story Into Gold: make an income and an impact by tuning into your lived (and healed) experience, natural gifts and soul-whispers.

  • Stepping into a leadership role within the healing and spirituality space.

  • Why the reader is not the guru … you are. Starting an intuitive, tarot or oracle card practice of your own. How to start acknowledging and integrating the messages you receive.

  • Digging into the difference between tarot and oracle cards, and how to pick what’s best for you.

  • Phalyn’s energetic predictions for 2023 and in January, specifically (through a Tarot reading, of course!). Hint: personal growth, self acceptance and embodiment are among the main themes. Yes please!

Resources mentioned:

  • Connect with Phalyn on Instagram or online.

  • We reference a few decks in our chat. Here are links to a few of them: The Rose Oracle / The Starseed Oracle / The Healing Light Tarot.

  • Ready to buy your own deck? Phalyn recommends going in-person to a metaphysical shop to pick them out. Here are a few local-to-Winnipeg recommendations! Divine Clarity / Shakti Shine / Vital Village.

In this episode I interview Sandra Hodzic, a corporate innovation consultant and toddler #boymom, who began her life in Canada at the age of 9 after leaving the Balkan region of Europe.

As a fellow mama in her 30’s, Sandra and I deep dive into so many hot topics for women raising children and pursuing soul-aligned work throughout this age/stage of our lives.

We touch on:

  • Feeling unaligned with the former internal drivers of busyness, hustle culture and chasing “girlboss” status.

  • Balancing the desire to achieve and be successful, with the call to become more slow and intentional in this season of life and motherhood.

  • How growing her spiritual connection over the past few years has helped her stay grounded and alive within the chaos of all that’s gone on, globally and individually.

  • Noticing where we might have equated our worth in our 20’s or earlier stages and realizing how that was probably misplaced on something completely irrelevant.

  • The power we have as millennial women to opt-out of the systems that were not designed for us and our ultimate well-being.

  • Becoming unapologetic about what we want as women and our generation’s leaders and how to bring about a cultural shift in more equitable directions.

  • The feeling of “walking between two worlds” as a first generation Canadian who still desires a strong a connection to her culture of origin.

  • Sandra’s journey of “belonging” and how it has influenced her in both motherhood and business/leadership.

  • Bridging the gap between the trauma experienced as a child of war to raising a toddler in Canada in 2022.

  • How to navigate difficult discussions on parenting with elders/previous generations.

  • Deepening your confidence and self-trust by embracing a “less is more” mentality when it comes to explaining yourself.

Ah yes, that simple, but elusive concept: how to show up for yourself. We have an easy time doing the work and sticking to habits when things feel on-track, but how do we continue to show up for ourselves in times of low motivation, lack of results or frustration over our circumstances.

I touch on…

  • How to motivate yourself when the results are not what you expected/desired and now you just want to run and hide.

  • The messy middle: sometimes the only way out, is through.

  • Three concrete things you need to do in order to show up yourself in moments of resistance.

  • Why micro-forms of showing up sometimes count more than big bursts of effort.

  • How although most of the advice I give here is strategic and actionable, there is a direct correlation to the manifestation/co-creation process.

Resources mentioned:

  • The Upper Limit Problem as discussed by Gay Hendricks in The Big Leap.

  • Let me support you in showing up for your big dreams and best self. Book a Strategic Alignment session with me to walk away with clarity around your next steps, the mindset to achieve them and the feelings of success in your life or work that you’ve been craving.

  • The difference between traditional and functional medicine - if you don’t know what the term means exactly (like I didn’t!), Lori provides very relatable, tangible examples.

  • The importance of looking at the bigger picture of your health vs just symptom-by-symptom testing.

  • The types of thyroid problems typically experienced by women in their 30’s (hint: hustle culture is not your friend), especially after pregnancy.

  • The importance of strong gut health and how the lack thereof can trigger autoimmune and/or thyroid issues.

This interview features a conversation between myself and Megan Walton, a fellow MBA, CEO of a non-profit and mom of 3. There is so much goodness inside this episode - it just oozes true female empowerment! You will be planning your next UpLevel the moment this conversation ends… We touch on:

  • The constant dance between finding alignment with your core needs and the almost-persistent quest for growth (and thus, discomfort and challenge) that so many of us soul-searchers are admittedly thirsty for.

  • Giving yourself permission to take the leap of faith on your soul-led goals.

  • Megan’s journey of following her intuition to uproot her family and move cross-country to begin a whole new life and career.

  • Trust, trust, trust yourself. When you make soul-aligned decisions … things will always work out for your highest good.

  • Getting out of either/or thinking and moving simply towards what feels good.

  • Becoming willing to discover what is the core feeling you’re chasing underneath the desire: it may not always be what you think you need.

  • Shutting out the noise of the external: gain your personal power back by focusing on your internal world.

  • Making time for creativity (Megan is an amazingly talented songwriter) amidst the chaos of work, 3 kids and you know …life.

  • Refusing to engage in toxic motherhood or martyrdom by actually committing to your self-development/self-care … and therefore passing on of the greatest gifts you could ever give your children.

After navigating her own exit from a loveless marriage and subsequent deep healing journey, she shifted her life’s work to guide and empower other women to escape the pain they carry from past narcissistic relationships, abuse and generational trauma. • Addressing perfectionism, keeping it all together and being a “good mom” all while facing an internal battle of emotions.

  • How self-trust can only be developed through self-respect and the importance of creating this trust in your inner child as an adult.

  • Reconciling the wounded parts of us with compassion while still shifting out of victim-mode to surviving, then thriving.

“I’m saying this because I love you”. I dig into why we inherit this self-critical voice as a response to our social conditioning. In an episode casting zero blame, simply observation, I give you some tips on how to shift the tendency to criticize yourself as a form of self-motivation into practices that feel more aligned with joy.

I touch on…

  • Noticing your self-critical thoughts and getting curious about them: are they actually true or kinda distorted?

  • Becoming curious as to how/where you’re criticizing yourself: is it an internally or externally-driven feeling of pressure or conditioned response?

  • Leaning into what you’re critical over and reframing around joy. Using feeling good as the reason behind your habits and choices, and taking the first next step in the direction of true happiness.

Do you identify as a fixer? I sure did. This episode explores why fixing other people is a response to our own internal discomfort, and how much our desire (and ability) to serve another person can be amplified once we address our fixing/rescuing/helping behaviours. I touch on:

Why doing the work for someone else is not a strategy.

The purpose of venting and why we need to allow others to navigate those murky waters by simply holding space.

Allowing others to make mistakes and absorb their own unique lessons … even when it hurts.

Why the belief of “I can do hard things” must be learned internally versus taught.

Understanding what your internal motivators are to fixing or rescuing others: how can you seek validation or to demonstrate your value outside of fixing.

This simple truth: that fixing is selfish. And when you fix, you remove the ability for someone else to grow.

The flip-side of fixing: you’re not bad, you’re not . You just care a whole heck of a lot about people, and I think that’s beautiful.

If the topic of this episode resonated with you, then let’s dig into these patterns in a completely-personalized 4-Week Sprint.
