The Noble Father Podcast is for dads that live from the inside-out and meets the challenges of fatherhood with relentless purpose. A Noble Father is defined as one that shows fine personal qualities, high moral principles and ideals. Because a Noble Father knows he gets to show how dreams are chased, how to love unconditionally, and gracefully make sense of this bewildering journey we call life. He plays a major role in the overall trajectory of the family unit with his example directly affecting positive generational change or the reverse, trauma.
In this episode, Theophilus shares his week and the reconciliation he sought with 2 different people. Reconciliation is a theme of relationships. They go hand-in-hand. As imperfect humans, we so easily fortify our positions and choose to hold our own context. Don't forget, we have an audience watching how we interact with the world.
In this episode, Theophilus embodies his phrase for the year, RUTHLESS, RELENTLESS, REMORSELESS. Theophilus shares about blame and why it's so important for us to control what we can. We are to test ourselves, asking ourselves the difficult questions. Theophilus airs out everything to release himself from the crabs in his life. Crabs that seek, conspire and act to drag him down to their inactive, less-than-optimal levels. Pay attention to those around you who do the same.
In this episode, Theophilus shares his top 3 (1 BONUS) tips to what's helped him succeed as a father. These aren't just fluff & words but a result of action taken consistently. The evidence to back it all up is in my children. I hope the insights I share help you on your journey towards raising the next generation.Noble Father Membership Community: https://www.noble-father.com/
In this episode, Theophilus shares on the dangers of following the wrong leaders. As a coach himself, the temptation is always there to lead people where you feel is best for them. Yet, the beauty of a coaching relationship lies in the discovery process. My desire is that this enlightens you to what is possible through coaching.
In this episode, Theophilus shares about his story of entrepreneurship, the challenges along the way and why fathers need to jump on the bandwagon of starting their own business. In this episode, Theophilus shares his view on the state of his beloved home country, Canada, but also how he's learning to navigate difficult, grey-area topics. Ulitmately, as human beings, we draw a line in the sand on topics all around us every single day. It is inevitable that we draw a line over the toes of friends & families on things we believe strongly for & against. But learning to do it gracefully, lovingly, and wholeheartedly is the key to success; Theo is learning that lesson every day too.Noble Father Fortress Community: https://noble-father.com/

In this episode, Theophilus shares about a lesson he's still learning to this day since starting the podcast 2.5 years ago. Life never gets old and lessons we thought we've learned creep back up in some new way or form. Yet, every person, no matter what has happened to or around them, are already a walking success. Look at life with that perspective and you will truly see how much you have to be grateful for.

In this episode, Theophilus shares the story of Joseph and how God works miracles through the lowest of low, from worst to the greater good. This theme of the underdog story is not a new concept. The Bible is riddled with stories of underdogs, the lowest, the inconsequential, and the weakest winning some of life's toughest battles & struggles. Many will relate to these stories because we often times feel this way in some form or another. Come, find encouragement, and take what you need to go back to being the best you can be.

In this episode, Theophilus shares about his favorite hockey team and how much hockey has contributed to Noble Father being what it is today. Almost 13 years ago, the Vancouver Canucks almost clinched the most prized trophy in all of sports but sadly, it just was not meant to be. In even the most miniscule, most minute choices & decisions we make in life, they hold great gravity & weight in the scheme of eternity. Whatever we loose here & now, manifests into something later. In this episode, Theophilus shares how the world isn't coming to an end because of an eclipse. The tried and true quote by Alexander Hamilton goes, "Those who stand for nothing fall for anything." That is where we've gotten in society. Truth is subjective. Feelings are truth. Theophilus bursts that bubble and goes a step further to reference Bible verses that teach us how to contend with the world & its deceptive schemes.

In this episode, Theophilus shares about the importance of legacy. In this episode, Theophilus shares about the importance of preparing a child for the road ahead, not the road for the child. This premise comes from the book, The Coddling of the American Mind. Theophilus gives his best practices (not that he's an expert himself), his own missteps as a father, & Biblical truth, he shares how we should be leaning in as leaders of our household. The results we are presently seeing our world in today is very much a byproduct of too much "preparing the road for the child" mentality. Luckily for us, it all starts at the head, the fathers of society.

In this episode, Theophilus shares about the priority of fathers and the importance of their development. Jim Rohn famously said, "What you become is far more important than what you get. Theophilus shares about times where he's been out of alignment when it comes to integrity, the great cost associated, and why we need more of it in our world. In this episode, Theophilus shares the basic principle of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This point is beautifully illustrated in the story of David in the Bible but greatly applies to our lives as fathers. This is how we ensure a brighter future for our children; but we must do it together.

There are generations of people out there who lost grandfathers, fathers, step-fathers, and adoptive fathers in the tragedy that rocked us all. Alongside this, Theophilus talks about the Shia LaBeouf interview with Jon Bernthal on The Real Ones Podcast about the topic of a masculine ceremony. In this episode, Theophilus builds upon the foundation of the previous episode about the similarities and differences between male & female. When a male & female come together in matrimony and in covenant, there is an inherent compliment that happens. The results from such a union can either manifest in a tremendously powerful & positive way or it can create devastatingly horrendous conflict & division. In this episode, Theophilus shares about the unique creation of the 2 genders, male & female. Though there are those that want to blur the lines of truth, the distinctions are obvious and undebatable. This isn't an episode to stir up some political debate. Nor is it an episode for husband or wife to fill up on ammunition to take into conflict with each other. This is an episode to show how wonderfully and specifically unique we are all made. Rather than magnifying the differences of our makeup, we should be celebrating each other in both similarities & differences.

In this episode, Theophilus talks about an imbalance in our world, the establishment of anti-establishment of man in our society. This imbalance creates what we're currently seeing around us in the problems that we face, for which we're encouraged to stay shush about, and even play into it as willing participants. As I firmly believe everything is connected and relevant, each participant, no matter how small, contributes to it in even the most miniscule way. As such, we each have an immense role to play. The scariest notion of the present is when we refuse to acknowledge or learn from the mistakes of the past; doomed to repeat them. Which is certainly the case for our direction as a globe. Come listen to what we can learn from that history and how it applies to us all at a deep level. The hope for you listening, whether you're a father or not, is that you objectively look for your own information, your own research, you'd take all sides of information regardless of how different, foreign or counter it is to your beliefs, to make a more nuanced judgment. In this episode, Theophilus answers a profound question. We are hunter-gatherers in a digital age. What is the best way to lead as a father? Are we to adapt and bend ourselves to what society & our families demand of us? Or are we supposed to rely on age-old practices and cultural norms that have withstood the test of time? All these questions are answered and come here what Theophilus' opinions are on this subject.

In this episode, Theophilus gets serious and brutally honest. The pressing issues that plague us presently are all trying to flex what's not bendable. Let it be known that this episode is recorded out of utmost love for everyone. Not just for everyone in the present but also in the unseen, unanticipatable future. As a Noble Father, I must speak openly and from the heart about these issues and not beat around the bush about it. As such, some will find this episode against what they believe to be true and that's okay but that won't change what & how I share.

In this episode, Theophilus shares about the importance of communication with our children. This foundation involves an immense amount of presence and intentionality throughout their lives; doesn't end in childhood. Even in the briefest, most inconsequential conversations, we must be wary of our responses because even reflex reactions can instill hesitancy in our children to open up to us. This was incredibly true in my own upbringing as a pastor's/missionary's kid growing up. The legalism of religion and the facade of perfection that I needed to portray as such, made it very difficult for me to open up to my parents. Too bad for us all, there are no perfect parents out there and anyone who says they have it all together, are too disillusioned to see their faults. This is why we must each look to ourselves and audit our own lives critically, to control what we can in doing the best we can in every available area of life.

In this episode, Theophilus talks about how life as we know it is all about mitigation or exacerbation of risks. It appears in more ways than we give it credit for. This episode also answers a question about why God does certain things and Theophilus provides an answer to why we are where we are today as a civilization. And also, in talking about risks, we must talk about misinformation because from those places, the decisions we make, are typically ill-informed and misguided; setting off a less-than-ideal future for us. This way of doing life is incredibly dangerous and can lead us to being incredibly closed-minded & from there, opportunities to grow will cease.

In this episode, Theophilus shares about what it means to be a threat and what he's found to be the most effective way to be one. Our roles as fathers isn't just a surface-level thing. It's a deeper journey for ourselves and for our children. The recommendations he gives is from what he's done in his own life and the results he's seen are evident in his physical world. From there, Theophilus shares about the art of making memories. How it's far simpler than we think & certainly overcomplicate it with too much fluff & stuff.

In this episode, Theophilus follows up on the conversation last week answering the question of "where do I even start?". In wanting to be more of a presence, leader & of a threat, the mind immediately thinks of all the areas that need to be recalibrated. Some more daunting than others but in its totality, too much burden to bear. In looking at all of it, many fall back into old ways, zones of comfort & security, only to find themselves back at square one. The beautiful thing is, as I've re-iterated again & again in the past, the place to start is within each father. To know fully our internal selves so we can better navigate the external world around us. That's where it all starts and where the first step should come from.

WARNING Explicit details and firsthand accounts from child sex predators. Listen with headphones and/or not in the presence of children unprepared for this conversation.
In this episode, Theophilus talks about the details & information revealed by child sex predators on how/who they target, isolate and tell-tale signs to look for in children who may be or about to be a victim of such a terrible thing. With the prevalence of technology, the younger inception of the use of screens & online video games, the opportunities for these predators are as abundant as ever before. This firsthand information given by these formerly convicted predators outline just how easy it is for them to identify, isolate & groom their victims. And the answers gleaned may surprise you about how important it is for us to be present, proactive & leaders as men, husbands and fathers.

WARNING Mentions of serial killers & some details related to their horrific crimes as well as mentions of the slippery slope of pornography. Avoid listening with children in vicinity.
In this episode, Theophilus talks about two different demographics of society and how it all relates back to one place - family background. Referencing another book by Malcolm Gladwell, Outliers: The Story of Success, Theophilus talks about the importance of foundational principles of a firm, secure & noble family background in the development of children. Backed by scientific studies done by experts on high IQ geniuses, connecting his own life, and correlation to the upbringing of serial killers (of his own conclusion separate from the book). This episode will enlighten you to the immense responsibility we as parents (not just fathers) in the lives of our children; cohesively. Everyone is subject to this in some way or another and more than likely attributes to your current state of life, whether you want it to or not. An absent & terrible father is more of the epitome of true crime than any serial killer ever.

In this episode, Theophilus elaborates on the Inverted U Curve concept by Malcolm Gladwell and how it applies to so much of our lives. Everything in life falls into this and as such, fatherhood along with it. This concept is incredibly insightful and practical for us to find where life is at its best and optimal. This is where God intended life to be. I always recommend people come with an open-mind into everything and that's certainly the case with this topic. You and I may not believe the same things but that doesn't mean we are unable to learn from one another & take away something for ourselves. If you get this right, in all 7 domains of our being, and instill it into your children, our world will be a vastly different place.

In this episode, Theophilus shares about disabilities. What does it mean? Why is it such a big deal? Does it actually hinder us? You may be surprised to learn some fun facts about successful people with disabilities and these revelations are sure to change your perspective & understanding of it in the world around you. Whether you believe it or not, we all deal with a certain level of disability in our lives in one shape or another, the sooner we understand we are all imperfect & disabled in some regard, the better off we are & will be. This conversation applies to all fathers, whether for ourselves or for our children, we all have a part to play in this discussion. In this episode, Theophilus talks about the urgency, we as fathers, have for quiet time and spaces of solitude in a busy, distracting world. Inspired by a fellow Noble Father, Dan and his experience out in the wilderness to disconnect from the world and reconnect with himself. May this episode serve as a call-to-action for all you fathers out there looking to take your life back into your own hands to return to where the journey is meant to originate from, your heart. In this episode, Theophilus shares about the David vs. Goliath struggle of the example of fatherhood. Using 3 stories from the Bible of obscure people, their miniscule existences and how God used them to do amazing & great things. This example is all we need to face up the goliaths we encounter in life. There are no logical answers or solutions to illogical problems. His ways are above our ways and as you'll see in these examples, the lowest of the low will be the greatest of them all. First is last, last is first. But with this knowledge comes great responsibility. We must believe, trust faithfully, and boldly act. The choice is yours.

In this episode, Theophilus shares some Bible verses as it pertains to fatherhood and their application to our roles & responsibilities. This was both enlightening and insightful for myself in understanding how important it is for us as fathers. This is ageless information and one in which, no matter that struggle and pressures of the world, we must push beyond and be the fathers we are called to be. May this episode embolden you to take immediate action to take back your role as that father, and not let bad get to worse. There's a point of no return for everything and the last thing we want that to happen in is in fatherhood.

In this episode, Theophilus shares about love as best he can, which is also talked about in the episode. We like to think we know all there is to know about love but in reality, we will never know fully. This can either be incredibly discouraging or it can incredibly liberating. My hope is that you come with an open mind, an open heart and a willingness to think critically about yourself as a father as it pertains to love.

In this episode, Theophilus encourages his listeners to return to their truest authentic selves and how the world (and the great deceiver) strives to pull you further away from inherent truths. When we stop living authentically and adopt external standards for ourselves, we undergo journeys with life-altering, oft devastating results. Especially in our world with infinite pronouns and blurry truth backed by flimsy experts & science, we must stand unwavering as Noble Fathers to show our children how to contend with the world they live in. We must hold the line.

Theophilus caps off the year 2022 with a bang! After providing an update on his holiday season and wishes for the new year, Theophilus shares his priorities as it pertains to the 7 domains of wellness (physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, environmental & vocational). He ranks them based on his opinion and priority but then shares his goals for each of those for the year to come. For each one, he shares a Bible verse, an insightful quote, and his warning to fathers for overlooking each domain. The purpose of this podcast is not to compare or disparage its listeners, let's be clear. It is to insight, motivate, encourage, embolden and fire-up all its listeners to maximize their life in all 7 of those domains.

In this episode, Theophilus talks about his & his son's experience in their first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grading with Grandmaster Marcus "The Encyclopedia" Soares. He also shares some words of wisdom shared by Duane, the pastor of his church on the premise of God commanding us to occupy the land he calls us to. The grading experience along with the first 3 months of our journey tied well with this sharing. We have no idea what or how God intends to use these new interests and areas of growth, but we must be faithful to confront the opposition & take it for ourselves.
For those listeners in Vancouver, Canada who are interested in getting into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, know that this episode isn't sponsored nor am I paid to say this, I am genuine in my recommendation of Marcus Soares' BJJ gym. If you want to learn BJJ properly, Grandmaster Marcus is your guy. Spend one session with or watching him teach and you'll see how truly passionate he is in the sport. There's really no one like him out there. Just tell them Theo sent you.

In this episode, Theophilus talks about who we are as human beings. We are a complex system encompassing the physical, mental, emotional, social & spiritual. Our lives are a direct representation of how we steward those 5 dimensions. Neglect one and the rest eventually fall apart. Understanding this as a Noble Father will dictate the lives we live and the example we set for our children for generations to come. That is my firmest belief.

In this episode, Theophilus is wondering what to talk about when suddenly his playful 4-year-old daughter wanders by and we strike up a cute conversation. I ask her about her life as a 4-year-old tells it, what she thinks of life, and those closest to her. She's exceptionally articulate for a kid her age and she certainly has personality & spunk. The audio quality on this episode is a little bit off, as I'm working on getting it fixed, I also hope that if you're looking to get something out there, remember that it doesn't have to perfect! In this episode, Theophilus talks about his unkempt lawn and how it relates to our personhood, lives & hearts. This realization helped give new perspective into life and our interpretation of it. The way Theophilus thinks now is what he calls "Mental Jiu-Jitsu" where simple everyday occurrences and surface-level happenstance matters hold deep philosophical meaning. There's a profound underlying theme in how a fulfilled life is to be lived and it can only start from one place; within each of us.

In this episode, Theophilus draws on an analogy that came to him this week. So many of us pray for storms to subside and external things to happen so we can excuse ourselves & not change something internal; even though storms are unavoidable. Rather than hoping for the storm to subside, we should be preparing ourselves, asking for fortitude and facing the storm with courage to come out the other side. Only when we do this, do we persevere and are able to prepare for the next storm that, when not if, will come our way inevitably. Theo draws on the story of Steven Callahan (video of his story), a man who was adrift at sea for 76 days after being shipwrecked & ties this story to life with its many obstacles, trials & tribulations.

In this episode, Theophilus shares a high performance tool that can help fathers keep track of their progress through life in the different categories we all have. With this tool, we are able to understand our present situations better but also to see what changes need to be made for us to return to a well-balanced life. The mere fact is, who we surround ourselves with (one of the spokes in the wheel) has a direct impact on the results we see and plays an influential role in who we are becoming one day.

In this episode, Theophilus talks about a topic that's come up plenty this week, direction. Without direction, we're aimless in our pursuits, we'll lack focus in our actions & amount to little or meaningless results. This isn't only important to us as fathers, but also for our own children & the lasting legacies our example of leadership leaves behind. Theo talks about his own life, how he came to find his purpose, and the direction he's now taking. In this episode, Theophilus connects the dots between the book Start With Why by Simon Sinek, the importance of setting intentions in fatherhood, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In this week's episode, Theophilus is traveling on a business trip but he speaks about the topic of proactivity or reactivity as it relates to life & fatherhood. Both of these places dictates the results we see later on in life. As they say, the best time to plant a tree is 40 years ago, and the next best time is now. Your decisions now in proactivity, dictates the results you see and limits the amount of reactivity you have to take. Consider this for yourself this week. Are you more proactive or reactive in all the areas of life you're a part of?

Welcome to Season 2! With the start of the new school year (late start in Canada), Theophilus is starting off episode 1 with a bang. In this episode, Theophilus talks about the subject of holes we have in our being that we try to fill with surface-level, external things. This concept of not fully facing up to our issues and in turn attempting to fill with things is a common practice not just in fathers. It might not amount to much but over time, a little bit causes us to deviate from the path. This may account for where we are as a fatherless society & generation.
Warning to listeners: Certain words like pornography, violence, shootings will come up in the episode.

Many of us carry what others have falsely said, claimed or projected about us as our identity, taking us off the path towards true destiny. Or like Tony Robbins famously said, "By changing nothing, nothing changes." Theophilus also gives lessons he's learned in the past and also tips for how you can change the results you're currently seeing in your life; from his own experience.

In this episode, Theophilus shares about his recent outing with his family and lessons he's learned about opportunity & time through the journey of fatherhood. Theophilus breaks down time into digestible perspective and provides his tips on how to better utilize it. But also, if you're looking for a sign to take the opportunity, assume the risk, and chase after something, here it is. There's no time like the present and there may not be a chance or opportunity as good as this one available to you now. Go for it, Dads!

In this episode, Theophilus shares about the most profound improvement he made in his own life and how it impacted his life, his faith, his family, and his business. The mind is a muscle of its own and if we leave it neglected, the thoughts of all varieties and of all spectrums will overwhelm us. Increasing our awareness of the negative around us and within, we will only be met with negative results. This is no way to live for any sane human being, let alone a father with an audience of onlookers who emulate his very example.

In this episode, Theophilus talks about masculine vulnerability, the effects of it, and how we all have a part to play in breaking that norm. Whether you're a father, mother, son, daughter, friend, or stranger, we have an opportunity to take off the falsehood and show up authentically to the benefit of everyone around us. Our world needs more of our authentic selves.

In this episode, Theophilus talks about Carl Jung's famous quote, "The greatest burden a child bears is the unlived life of the parents." Whether you see yourself as the child or the parent in the quote, we must be conscious how we proceed in life. God intended a special life for us because He knew us and planned us before we were even formed. Theophilus shares about his own life and his observations of things he's witnessed in the course of it. Happy 4th of July to my American listeners!

TRIGGER WARNING - Mentions of the Roe vs. Wade debate are in this episode. Rather not have this come up as you're in the car with your kids. Nor do I mention it to stir up anything and if you've found offence in something I shared, know that I had no intention of anything other than of love & getting my thoughts off my chest.
In this episode, Theophilus explores the concept of context in our world and why it is so critical to harmony in all areas of society. There are no shortages of divisive issues we as a humankind continually debate & wage war over. The examples provided come from real situations Theophilus has been a part of as well as some of his thoughts on the current events in society today.

In this episode, Theophilus shares about personal experiences old & new as it relates to actions & inactions of parenting. Some of the experiences directly affect Theophilus to this day at the age of 36 and some are from his own journey as a father himself. The key to raising strong, independent children starts at a young age with leadership from present fathers not solely focused in the now but on eternity.

With the recent tragic events in Buffalo, Laguna Woods, & Uvalde, Theophilus expresses his thoughts & causal links that contribute to the state of the world we live in. Any loss of life is a terrible one. But we are all to blame for what we are currently seeing unfold before us. Fathers, especially, have to take back their rightful roles in the leadership, guidance, & care of their families. Or else, we'll only create more bullies, shooters, & children that end up being fringe members of society.
This episode may not be a good one to listen in the presence of young children. Nothing explicit is shared but I will mention the shootings in some form.

In this episode, Theophilus discusses risk and how it affects our lives (not just from the perspective of a father). He talks about how we face, tolerate and take risks in every day situations. Because simply, a father must show his offspring how to do all that in their own lives. Theophilus also shares the 3 vital ingredients necessary for commitment, how it all starts with fathers and why we must face calculated risks head-on.

In this episode, Theophilus opens up about real-time struggles of inconsistency in his life and how it affects his marriage, parenthood, and living his life purpose. He also shares some Biblical verses on fatherhood and the importance of raising children in the way they should go. Because a father is not just a bank account to withdraw from, chauffeur, or a piggy for piggybacks, he is a leader that directs his family. However, as strong as a leader is, his wife & partner has an important role to play too.
