Continuing through the Gospel of Matthew series After my Conversation with Paul Granger I wanted to do a quick review of Matthew of 10:35-36. Explaining the value of having someone who is a father a parent to give experience perspective. Sometimes ideas are helpful when you are making suggestions, however there comes a time when you operate in between the hypothetical and the reality and I believe more people will benefit from the reality. Finishing up with Matthew 10 was an honor as we dive into what it means to be Worthy of Jesus Christ.What is required of a believer to be worthy? Tune in if you want to take in consideration of these suggestions.
Continuing through the Gospel of Matthew series I thought that it would be a great idea to change things up a bit, so I invited an old friend to the Gospel of Matthews series to have an intentional conversation. The truth of the matter is... sometimes when it comes down to discussing Biblical passages you can speculate about what it takes to live it out but ultimately there's a challenge to move in faith especially when you can’t see the outcome. Living out what God tells is no easy task, which is why we need to learn from our mistakes. Let’s also appreciate the experiences we have because that is what makes the difference when you speak into the lives of others. The question becomes: do you have the wisdom to inform me down the right path? Which is why I thought that this week it would benefit you all if I brought on an old friend to share some of his wisdom from his experiences since he has lived much longer than I have and knows much more than I do; more importantly he’s a husband and a father which fits right into what the passage is addressing. The passage that we are discussing is the Gospel of Matthew 10:35-36.

Continuing through the Gospel of Matthew series the soft open is reflection. Are you reflecting on how good God is on the daily? If not, you should consider it. You will be surprised how present He is in the details of your life.The focus today was on Matthew 10:34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” The question that gets posed is what does Jesus mean by Sword? Why isn't his purpose driven to bring about peace? Why is prior biblical knowledge important as you continue to read the Bible? Tune in to learn how to continue to build your relationship with Jesus Christ.
As we continue through the Gospel of Matthew series we come across a passage I truly believe isn't spoken enough about and that's Matthew 10:32-33. I spent time explaining why I believe these two verses should be one complete thought instead of being two separate verses. Now the deeper issue has to do with reaping the name Jesus Christ. Over the years there have been numerous times where an athlete mentions their relationship and affiliation with Jesus Christ and the news outlets have decided to cut that portion out of the interview and broadcast. Why do you think that this is happening? Another question is why are people more comfortable with Thanking God but never specify which God they are speaking of? I believe That this is an issue that is not mentioned enough which is why I am using Matthew 10:32-33 to address it. Let's Give Jesus Christ His Just due!
As we continue with the Gospel of Matthew series the passage of Scripture that became extremely interesting for me this week was Matthew 10:29-31. What made it interesting was that Jesus possessed a rhetorical question with a set up to address something much more meaningful. What doesn't surprise me is God has a way of encouraging you to ask, seek,and knock and once you do that the wisdom that you will discover will blow your mind. You know sometimes there is information that eventually gets discovered by someone else's work but it's not the same when you discover Revelation knowledge. How you arrive at that information is when God leads you and you come to realize it couldn't have been anyone else but Him. Tune in and the hope is you learn something today and have a takeaway that you can share with others.
Every episode so far dealing with the Gospel series I have spoken about the importance of reflection. In the soft often I've mentioned that by reflecting you will notice how good God has been and how much he has been a blessing to you each and every week. From time to time I have actually reminisced on the power of (God) therefore He deserves all the glory, honor, and praise. This week on the Bible study reflection episode I found myself reading chapter 1 of Daniel and all of sudden noticing an unexpected correlation with what was asked of me to do for work! Was this a coincidence? I think not. I believe it was God sent. Tune in to see what correlation I found between my presentation and the Word of God.

As we continue with the Gospel of Matthew series this week I was reminded of episode 155 a verse will do and I remember how I spoke about the importance of how a single verse can be all you need when faced with life's trouble. Reading the Word of God is designed to give you hope but most importantly strengthen your faith. Now if you don't believe it, guess what? the significance and value of biblical passages will not disappear. Yes I know it’s important to appreciate a whole chapter but there is something about a verse that seems to get overlooked. The focus of this episode was to elaborate even more than part 1 however God had other plans Part 2 won't just cover how the truth shall see you free. The intention behind Part 2 was to dive even deeper with the meaning of Matthew 10:28 which required a whole episode to unpack and if you tune in you will understand why it took a whole episode to explain at length and in greater detail.
This week on the podcast we are continuing through the gospel of Matthew series and decided to do a review of last week's episode because of how much it would prepare us for today's conversation. While preparing for this episode I had to remember one thing and that was; the Word of God is simple sometimes. I also had to keep in mind that it's very relatable. What's unique about it is the different outlooks you can have while reading intently. The topic of today's discussion is the meaning of truth. Truth in a literal meaning has value but truth as a person takes things to a different level. When we talk about progression as a disciple it requires time and patience therefore we come to a point in scripture where we are trying to make sense of Jesus' instructions to his disciples.
Continuing with The Gospel of Matthew series we take a look at Matthew 10:24-25 and examine the teacher and student relationship from a historical aspect. What you will find is the typical relationship between a teacher and student over the years normally sparks competition with differences and similarities. However when you look at the relationship between teacher and student the conclusions are not the same in fact the intentions are just to build and establish the body. There is no desire to declare war on differences instead there is mutual agreement. Tune in so that you can understand why. What makes Christianity different are these discoveries once compared to the perspective of the World.

This week however it was a scripture in Bible study that had me thinking deeply. It actually was two conversations I had with friends that inspired me to wanna have this conversation. This week I reflect on trials and tribulation and when they arrive the first person that you need to come to isn’t your friends, family, brothers and sister in Christ, nor counsel but God. I touch on the importance of responding instead of reacting to things that happen to you. The verse that brought it all together is Ephesians 4:26.

As we Continue through the Gospel of Matthew series we begin with why reflection is important, and why the value of being reminded should always be welcomed. We transition to the idea of wisdom and its many different stages appreciating all it has to offer. With the discussions of Matthew 10:21-23 as the primary objective the need for change helps us open the floor for discussion. As believers When it comes to living the Christian difference what becomes a Non-Negotiable is to live righteous. Living for Christ will lead you to make many changes. Or was it just meant for the disciples who stood before him as he told these suggestions to watch out for and Embrace? When reading God’s Word why should we Examine it, study it , and allow it to transform you Thoroughly? Why does giving the Holy Spirit something to work with a long term benefit to you? This week on the podcast we continue with the Gospel of Matthew series. However just like last week there's something added in to equip the people with and that is the power of a single verse. Yes it’s important to value passages. Yes it’s important to appreciate a whole chapter but there is something about a verse that gets overlooked. Therefore today the focus is to point out how a single verse can be a blessing as well.
The normal Approach to the podcast for this week changed a little bit. The lead is usually a testimony in which I share: two or three ways the lord has blessed me last week and I use that to get us started. Right after We pray and then we usually jump right into the Word. However this time it was intentional because I thought it would actually be more beneficial if focus was on how the Word of God comes to life and how it’s alive everyday in every situation and Circumstances for you to discern, observe and apply. Tune in to see the direction this ends up. Think about what the Word provides and why there needs to be much more Emphasis on it. This week is a bonus.
This week on the show we address the instructions of Jesus to his disciples found in Matthew chapter 10 specifically in verses 5 and 6 and it reads:These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” So in Spirit of curiosity the question is why did he instruct them not to go near the Gentiles and the town of Samaritan. To take it a step further Johnathan takes us to Romans 1:16 to begin with Paul's wording. This week on the show we revisit Matthew 9:35-38 to assist us with the understanding of Matthew 10:1-15. It was because of this text Johnathan felt the need to draw comparisons with other books in the Bible to support the idea that God meets the needs of his people throughout Biblical history and more importantly till this very day!. The question has been raised: does God love his people? And if he does, where can you show me that ? It was with this question Johnathan decided to connect Mark, Exodus, Luke, Numbers, and Matthew to explain how God has been proactive with his own creation. The day after Resurrection day Johnathan begins by acknowledging that everyone will not acknowledge Resurrection day because everyone does not believe that Jesus has risen. They don't believe that Jesus lived, so they prefer Easter. The truth of the matter is as believers we need to keep in mind that everyone is entitled to believe what they want our jobs as believers should be to honor their choice of belief. As we continue with the Gospel of Matthew series Johnathan discusses Matthew 9:35-38 and reviews the text and notices how Jesus has done some interesting things that many people today have embraced and have modernized and taken it to a different level today. Tune and hear those similarities in approach today and how it was stolen from the past. Take a close look at marketing and how it hasn't changed much. Take a look at propaganda, teaching and selfishness has plagued people's ability to grow and be the best versions of themselves. This week Johnathan made a conscious decision to take a deep dive into the Word of God from a Philosophical approach in the Gospel of Matthew specifically chapter 9 verses 32-34. The intent was to dig deep from a biblical and Philosophical perspective. What made him decide to do this is because he felt the need to speak on this portion of scripture. Without question he had questions and thoughts and figured why not explore some things and see what the Word of God had to say about things such as: biblical historical events, miracles, and prophecy and why was Jesus rejected when it came to him helping others as evidence of God sending Him. He found himself being kind of mind blown with what he discovered while confirming some things he knew. See if you agree or disagree after taking a listen. The goal of course is to explore the Word of God honestly and with the intent to learn and strengthen your faith in Jesus Christ. The more you learn about your savior the more equipped you will be to discuss Him with believers and unbelievers.

I brought Sam on as part of our special guest segment because I wanted to discuss several things with him relating to his journey of coming to Christ and topics concerning (the body meaning his church) as a whole. I also wanted to highlight what he has been doing for the kingdom through his YouTube page. I believe we had a fruitful discussion and hope it will be a blessing to you as much as it was to me.
Continually with the Gospel of Matthew series we come to a point in scripture where Jesus is meant by two blind men seeking to speak with him. Their desire was to see, hoping that Jesus would show compassion towards them they cried out aloud for mercy. Jesus eventually heals them but asks a very critical question: "Do you believe I am able to do this" ? And with that question I wanted to explore the difference between belief and faith. I wanted to read scriptures and identify where God wants us to exercise faith and belief. Tune in and determine if you agree with my suggestion. This week on the podcast I have on Branch Isole a friend. He's an Author, poet and storyteller. An author of twenty-two books Some of the topics that he writes about are: choice and consequence, accepting or avoiding personal responsibility, and the power of truth. Branch teaches corporate sales, and marketing, because he is actually a founder and partner of five small businesses .Branch graduated from Texas State University. He also did some post graduate work at the University of Houston, and holds an Oxford M.A. Theology degree from Trinity Bible College. Since we often talk a lot off the air I thought it would be a great benefit to have him on to share the things he is doing for the kingdom of God. tune in to learn some things you can apply to your everyday life and maybe you might want to purchase his books.
As believers the goal everyday should be to find ways to read, listen and praise God. Joshua 1:8 says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Scripture being our example I challenged two of my friends to read one chapter a day in The Word of God and choose three verses that stood out to them and share it. It would be this initiative that God would be more involved in our day. Through this opportunity in faith to spend more time with God I revisited the Gospel of Luke and noticed some things I didn't see when I first read it. Reading Luke and Matthew side by side I saw some differences and received some revelation. Tune in as this episode was not what I intended to post at all. This episode is raw and fresh with only about an hour of preparing. With the raspy-ness of my voice and the unpredictability of this message. I believe God had a say in why this was posted today.
There comes a time when you read the scriptures that you are going to have more questions than answers. Does that mean you should be concerned? No. Here's why: what makes the Word of God interesting and such a mystery is that it will leave you with the opportunity to search for those answers. It will give you the opportunity to get on your knees and ask God for his to reveal things to you. Matthews 7:7 NLT says, Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” So if you don't receive an answer at first, give it time. This episode was inspired by my story of Matthew 9 as we continue in the gospel of Matthew series. After taking a look at verses 18-26 I came out having more questions than answers. My hope in sharing this is to fill the curiosity of those who read and have questions about the text as well. It's perfectly normal to come across that and it's ok.
When it comes to the practice and tradition of fasting I think we all can agree that it's one of those actions that require intent. In episode 112 we did an episode on fasting where we thought it was important to point out that when you engage with such a practice the intent should be to receive rather than receive. Today we take a look at Matthew 9:14-17 in the ESV and unpack a response that Jesus gave to the disciples of John. Do you agree with the analysis ? Well the choice will be left up to you to consider. As always we are just making suggestions to consider and encouraging you to engage with the scriptures genuinely.
After my recovery I decided to revisit what occurred during this 4 day period where I felt emotional and physically drained due to getting sick. I wanted to understand what was the take away from such an experience and I received that response through my reflection time. I also took the time to examine positives and negatives as it pertains to those who are dealing with healthy challenges. What keeps a person who isn't well joyful in Christ Jesus? This Bible study reflection is an episode that I am most proud of because it allowed me to look at the world much more deeply and honestly it brought me back to square one as I do my best not to take things for granted or as a given. I also believe we should celebrate those who honor God in spite of their circumstances and remain faithful and content. Tune in to find out if you agree. Both of these gentlemen are good friends of mind and thought it would be an honor to have both of them in to discuss the purpose of New Year's resolutions, the importance of friendships, the definition of wisdom, the definition of love, how we could measure change and the meaning and purpose of suffering. Happy New Year from The Truth Of The Matter Is podcast. For the last two years we have provided themes for the upcoming year rather than New Year's resolutions. The hope is to give you something to consider as you navigate the months, weeks and days within the New Year. As we go into 2024 today we are continuing with the gospel of Matthew series. Johnathan will provide how God has been a blessing to him. He will also share several testimonials as support to why the theme should be considered and applied as we all go into the New Year.
Normally as the holidays draw near, podcast and TV shows with series tend to provide mixed versions of The best shows, re-runs with the goal in mind ito give the host, co-host, actors and actress a break, with an early vacation. However as a Uber Eats driver I know the desperate need for content. Just give me Something on the move that I can listen to that isn't music therefore I made sure to produce an episode for all those who are traveling and want to continue with the scheduled program. Today I reflect on Psalms 68:19-20 and Connect it with the relevance of the Christmas holiday. I begin with a question: Why did the son of man appear? From a biblical standpoint, it's not what you know, and it's not what you necessarily do, it's who you know that gets you entry into the kingdom of God, which has not come and yet it has come and yet it is still to come. Continuing with the Gospel of Matthew series, we welcome Daniel back, and we close out Matthew 6 by taking a look at verses 25-34. The conversation today was much more open as we opened up in prayer, acknowledging that before each and everyone of us were born, the Lord knew, all human life would be full of ups and downs, twists and turns, good and bad experiences. He knew that the human condition would be challenging as a result of sin, and yet He believed that we would handle and manage expectations. He believed that we would be overcomers. He's a Low-budget filmmaker who grew up in the 90s with an uncomfortable ideology about church while struggling with mental health as well. The conversation today will not be about his testimony, instead we will speak about his experience in his church upbringing and we'll see where we land on things we agree with and disagree with. Johnathan and Daniel have an open conversation about their experience fasting. Of course they cover several verses leading up to a statement from Johnathan: why when fasting is it better to receive than achieve from start to finish in the process of fasting? On this podcast, we spoke about the importance of prayer. Episode 19 was specifically addressing prayer through a biblical Lens. It was a reminder that prayer should flow, like a regular conversation you have with friends and family. The only difference is that you would repeat God's Word back to him to show him that you have studied yourself approved unto God. Episode 68 is all about reminding us that prayer has power. Yes, I'm sure there are moments in your life when you have prayed but felt like it didn't make a difference? You then started to believe that praying was worthless because you saw no results, so you said, "Why commit to it, especially if I'm not seeing change. Today, we dive into the Lord's prayer. Jesus and his disciples mentioned that John was teaching his disciples how to pray, so they asked Jesus, "Can you teach us how to pray?" Tune in to hear the words that Jesus suggested. The Lord's prayer has been recited often. Ask yourself why?
While at work this week, I listened to the Gospel of Luke and caught some interesting verses ripe for dialogue. On this week's episode, we took a trip down memory lane, identified different portions of the Luke text, that had us thinking deeply and found them to be startling. Sometimes, when you read God’s word, you will come across scriptures that will have you pausing, at times, taken aback and dare I say, tough for you to process or wrap your mind around. Part 1 episode 22. Part 2 episode 70.
Still a fairly New Segment, which was inspired by a Weekly bible study I had with friends Jennifer and Erik. The background story is that we would usually take out an hour in the week to have a conversation on 2 or 3 chapters in a book of the bible of our choice. Today, I unpack what I spoke about with Erik in the book of 2 Corinthians 13:5. This time around I bring up the importance of Hermeneutics and focus on three basic comprehensive principles: Context, Supportive text, and Purpose. Since that was the focus today we discussed verses that proceed verse 5 that would be verses 1-4 and just one verse that comes after 5 verse 6. Fair warning ⚠️ a lot of supportive text mentioned, so you might want to take out a pad and pen or take notes from the phone and look at it later.

He makes a distinction between what we see and what we should do all in Matthew 6:5-8 ,which is the passage for today. The life of Jesus Christ is often viewed as a positive soft spoken story that is able to be consumed by anyone. Although, the Suffering of all of our sins came at a hefty price, that is often not understood. Perhaps words don't do enough to really drive home the burden that was paid at Calvary in ancient Jerusalem. How about a horror story then? One so brutal that it turns your stomach or causes many to leave movie theaters back in 2004 or never view the movie at all. Today Johnathan and Daniel unpack Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ.' Let's learn a thing or two about what it really meant to carry the cross for the world's sin. He began selling used golf balls in his neighborhood and realized that he enjoyed generating sales and keeping track of profit margins. In his late teens, he launched a technology company that created virtual tours. He fell in love with real estate and decided to invest as soon as he turned 18. Unfortunately, it was short-lived due to the recession in 2007-2009, where Alex lost a lot of money. However, that did not keep him down. Instead, as an adjustment, he pivoted to an industry that was thriving during the recession years. Learn how his faith played a role in his success. Long wait for the opportunity to unpack Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Tune into part 8. He served during Operation Desert Storm and holds a Master of Science in Physical Education/Athletic Administration from Ohio University. After coaching and teaching for 17 years, John transitioned to a career in the fitness industry. John started his own company, Summit Strength & Conditioning, and was the owner and operator for seven years until the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Now, John is the fitness director at Fircrest Golf Club in Washington State, where he specializes in golf-specific training. Continuing with the 'The Beatitudes', we move on to Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." This week, we take the time to unpack this verse from a universalistic and theosophy point of view before we dive into it the biblical perspective. With proper humerus, you will learn why all scripture needs to remain in its proper context to understand what the writer actually meant. If you cherry-pick a verse and take it out of its context, you would be surprised of how it can stink of universalism and theosophy ideologies. The Word of God is nothing to play with, it's sharper than any double edge sword and can really do a number on you if you are ready for truth. Tune in if you're up for that challenge.
Continuing with the 'The Beatitudes', we move on to Matthew 5:7, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy." We take this time to reevaluate the word 'mercy' from a secular point of view, Greek, and Hebrew aspect. In study this week, I reminded myself that sometimes if you want to dive into a word and its usage, you may want to explore what was the original writer's intention. Then you want to ask yourself; how may I be able to benefit from its variety of meanings. Portions of our Bible are written in aramaic, and Hebrew translated into Greek and Latin. As we continue into the Beatitudes, the approach needs to be, how can I be more efficient as a believer when I read His Word? Are there some interpretations I need to re-learn? How about its meaning when it comes to different passages. In its many appearances, should I view the word 'love' the same? In this case today how about the word mercy?

Not prepared for what God may reveal next, I asked myself, if we never check the Greek translation and only read the Word of God in English, could it really hinder our understanding of what the original writers wrote and meant? Is it really a must, to check certain words in Greek or Hebrew or can the English translation do just fine for basic comprehension? Myself(Johnathan) and Daniel unpack Matthew 5:5. As we dive deep into the word 'Meek', you will see why I asked that question and why you should too. Could it really matter? Last year, the theme was to fill up your jar. The jar represents your bank. The bank has various functions but its common use is to store your money away for future usage. The purpose of the jar in this case is to store up the Holy Sprit breathed-Godly inspired Word, which is the Bible. As followers of Christ, we know that Jesus said this in the book of Luke 11:28, "On the contrary, blessed and (happily favored by God) are those who hear the word of God and continually observe it." So it would be wise, for you to refer back to His Word, which can bring you life in times of trouble, when you are in need of guidance, encouragement, comfort and the need to remain humble and yet still zealous. Towards the end Terrance McMullen suggested a hypothetical (and provocative) scenario If Jesus were here today and was given 2 options: His name is recognized by all, his message is spread around the globe, and there are millions of people who worship and celebrate his very existence — but we still struggle as humans to fully live into his teachings; or His name is never mentioned again, he is forgotten, has no relevance in history, and is worshipped by no one — but his teachings are embraced by everyone in the world…He believes, if what we are told about Jesus is true, that Chris wouldn’t even consider the first option. It was John who said that, "We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God, accepts this testimony." With the conclusion of Luke today, we will unpack the power of God's testimony and the impact it has on the life of a believer and believers. As a philosopher, in the early stages of my life I was caught up in the existence of God. I read books. I researched for hours upon hours. In the words of Albert Einstein, "Im just curious." I then realized that there were two types of arguments which believers and unbelievers where engaged in. It was, where's the proof of this Jesus? And how does Jesus reveal himself to us? He hasn't supernaturally shown himself to me yet and until he does I will remain skeptical. The truth of the matter is, God is the only one of his kind and therfore He is the supreme authority. God answers to no one. As we continue through the Gospel of Luke, today we stop at calvary as we unpack the dialogue between two theives and Jesus as all three are being crucified. In today's society, there seems to be a habit of revisiting popular catch phrases, and quotes, to later point out the potential hypocrisy in them. A great example of one is "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." The original take away, is that a physical attack can very well injure me but in no way does a verbal attack have the same impact. However, things have changed. Mental health has become much more of serious concern. A verbal lashing can have as much of an impact as a physical attack because of the underlying trauma it creates. When we look throughout scripture we see that God has made his presence known based upon what surrounds us. It was Paul who said, in Romans 1:20, "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." God cares about us and he shows us this with provision for all his people as he guides us in our journey of faith through life, accomplishing his purpose in them. "The Truth of the Matter is" podcast plans to continue in it's studying of God’s word with the understanding that God is living through the person of Jesus Christ. It was well said in John 14:10 the message Bible, "The words that I speak to you aren't mere words. I don't just make them up on my own. The Father who resides in me crafts each word into a divine act." After today's study in the word we hope to educate, inform, and reveal that God speaks through his word time and time again. We must discern and not give up, but continue to study ourselves approved to see what God is saying in his word and through the life and person of Jesus Christ to better understand matters.
How many of us can say that we learned the value of a dollar in the early stages of our lives? How many of us remember how we spent our first allowance? When it comes to finances there is plenty to learn about especially with what we should and should not do. This may come as a surprise and many might find this hard to believe, but Jesus spoke about the management of money more than the kingdom of God. He also illustrated his message in parables for better understanding. Now, there's a possibility that many of us didn't know that Jesus spoke often about this topic and provided wisdom on the said topic. The Truth of The Matter is, we want to, encourages all comers to tune in as we unpack a parable that gives us insight on the management of money while also seeing the importance of using God's Gifts our Talents, from above skills, and abilities.
Unfortunately, everyone does not have the experience of growing up with the same love, and attention from their birth parents or those responsible for taking care of them. The domino effect is that there seems to be rare moments when a child won't aberrant in their pursuit of that love. It will just have to come from somewhere else. It's safe to say that children at that age, I think don’t carry any animosity towards those who take care of them. I think they begin to want love in any place they can get it, so they act up and create scenes to get it. The thing about God is, He knows who you are and that's been that way since you were born. One can argue there's no need for seeking attention because no matter how much you try to hide or draw it to yourself, God sees you the same. Therefore, you can guarantee that God our Father has a plan for you. Join us on Father's day as we continue in the Gospel of Luke series.
As smart believers, if we read a portion of scripture and at first it doesn't make much sense or it seems complex; it is our job to be biblically inquisitive about it. Jesus encourages us to seek and keep on seeking, then you will find; knock and keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. The truth of matter is, if you want God to reveal himself to you, study yourself approved. Being a detective and trying to find out why, takes it a step further. This is what makes you an active reader of scripture. Continue to look for those patterns, principles, and precepts. Make note of key points and familiar statements, so you can refer back to them. Re-read to understand, instead of going through the motions. Today as we continue in the Gospel of Luke series understand that we intend to go deeper.
What makes life worthy of living is the opportunities we receive. Some believe that "Good things come to those who wait," while others believe, "That if you want something, you gotta take it! You gotta go after it." I'm here to say that both tactics can work, just under different circumstances. There's a song called "The Gambler" written by Kenny Rogers, and in this song he passes on wisdom. The purpose of the wisdom was to educate. On "The Truth of the Matter is" podcast, we will explain why being curious from a biblical standpoint can play a pivotal role in whether you can wait for a blessing or walk right into one.
If you're humble enough, you may come to the realization that you can learn a lot from raising and watching children. The impact that a child can have on a adult can be life changing. The thought of bringing a child into this world or adopting one and playing a huge or minimum role in their growth should be a special one. In this week's episode I want you to reminisce, take a trip down memory lane focusing on your mentality as a child. Ask yourself this: As an adult have you lost your child like excitement? Do you still approach things with the joy of a kid like you once did? Tune in to understand why you shouldn't stop being a "Big Kid" at times. In life, there are levels in how you live it. Something that would be easier to understand is the separation of living life with the luxury of having wealth, and living life with the unfortunateness of inheriting poverty. There's a lesson that can be learned on both sides. While the social class system does a great job of pinpointing the specifics of there being an upper, middle, working and lower class, the reality is, no matter where you place yourself you should clearly know there are levels to this life you live. What if I told you that someone existed and lived in very deep waters; for us to try and comprehend or even imagine it would be challenging. To occupy such power and authority it could only be one person. Tune in to learn of the specifics on this one.
As believers, it's easy to sometimes get caught up with how good you are doing individually when it comes to your attempt to live "Christ like." Let's say before you came to Christ, you use to curse all the time and now since you have given your life to Christ you don't anymore. Amen! Congratulations!! You made a change for better. However, there isn't an easy way to say this, but you do not become "the expert" in "no cursing" all of a sudden. The error of self-righteousness here: is the belief that you are convinced of your own "goodness" in comparison with the actions of another, and therefore you come off thinking you are better than them. No sir, that's the wrong mentality. Instead, all glory, honor, and praises go to Jesus Christ who has turned your life from being upside down. Today it's personal. We are going to look at a parable Jesus shares and see where we can improve individual and not fall under the error of self-righteousness.
When it comes to being encouraged or encouraging others, there are several different ways it happens. The !voices of those encouraging words can come from people you may or may not know. Some of these people are parents, friends, mentors, teammates, husbands, wives, pastors, teachers, public speakers motivators and strangers. I'm sure there are plenty of tactics and tricks you were told to incorporate, in order to keep you moving forward in life. "Thank you" is a sign of a mannerism, which is a habitual gesture or way of speaking or behaving. We all were raised different based upon cultural differences however, there is still an idiosyncrasy, which is a mode of behavior or way of thought peculiar to an individual. In part one, we discussed: If we claim to be in association with God, and if we tell people we have a relationship with God then it's our responsibility to remember that class, character, integrity, reliability, leadership, and kindness are important when it comes to our image. People are watching, and so is our heavenly Father. However, this week in part two, the focus is going to be on our inner circle relations rather than our outer relations. Instead of a broader point of view, we plan to address what impact those who are closest to us in our lives. We don't tend to feel sympathy after, but rather empathy with characters we encounter in stories. If you pin your ears back and actively listen you'll be surprised about your ability to learn from these stories. You will really unlock the skills that will help you throughout your own life. The reason for planning is to create a better outcome. It's a process of setting goals, outlining your tasks and developing strategies to accomplish your goals. It is the process of deciding in detail how to do something before you actually start to do it. With planning comes dreams and aspirations. We all know as humans beings we have needs, desires and ideas, and these things grow over time. In every aspect of our lives planning plays a crucial role. The challenge is managing your plans, whether you do it yourself or you pay others to assist you. But there's no way of knowing if they are trust worthy. Luke 16:1-18 is the text for this episode. We will examine the Shrewd Manager parable to see what lessons we can learn and how we can apply them.
Lost-and-found refers to something lost (by the owner) and something found (by a stranger). I believe however, that items aren't the only things which can be lost; people can be as well. Lost, is the inability to be found or recovered, unable to find one's way or ascertain one's whereabouts, confused, bewildered, or helpless. Now this might be the world's definition of lost, but there is but one savior and one God who is able to find and restore any human being back to relevance and value. His name is Jesus Christ. "Change is the only constant in life," whether that is you getting older every year, there being a nuance in perspective after an experience that has either affected you negatively or positively. The prices of gas, food, supplies going up or down depending on the market and its demand. Changes are happening regardless if you want them to or not. As we take a look at Luke 14:25-35, Jesus makes a request and that is, if we intend to be disciples of his we need to die to ourselves. What does that mean? !And is it too much to ask? We shall explore. We've used salt in several ways, what is the meaning of it in the biblical context? Tune in you won't want to miss that either.
Has there ever been a moment in life where you've experienced something that left you puzzled, frustrated, angry, unsettled, regretful, and upon reflection you wanted a do-over? Many of us have and if you haven't guess what? There's still time, and all the more reason to give this conversation a listen. When we think about the concept of strategic planning, we view it as a long term process. We see it as a collective road map that takes a long time to develop. There's usually a clear mission along with a vision and in that a timeline is created. Along these lines there's strategy implementation and of course program monitoring. You have benchmarks and objectives that will lead to informative progress towards whatever the goal may be. What if I were to tell you, thought out scriptures God moves exactly the same way? If there's one thing I know about God, He isn't going to compromise his nature, but instead move strategically, which we can read in the scriptures. Stay tuned in as Johnathan unpacks Luke 13:31-35. On the Truth of the Matter is podcast, this week we intend to explain what the kingdom of God is. Additionally, the kingdom of heaven is interchangeable with the kingdom of God and the question becomes, is it just a place or much more than that? Luke 13:18-30 will be the text that gets unpacked. Time and time again people have questioned God's existence, but more importantly his love for people and his love for his so called creation. Repentance has two meanings just like a coin has two sides. The way to repent is to ask Jesus Christ, our lord, for forgiveness. Right after this, we must make every effort to turn away from the very thing that had us come to the lord in the first place. Now, God understands that it's no easy task at first, which is why God is a God of process. As Johnathan and Daniel unpack Luke 13:1-9 We will learn why repentance is so important. Some of us look at things from a bird's eyes view, while others elect to see things from a worm's-eye view. Life can be easy or it can be difficult. The beautiful thing about choices in life is that as individuals we get to make them. When we take a look at the modern time we're living in, the question becomes: Are we interpreting it correctly? As a matter of fact, when we take a look at different times in history, did people understand the implications and demands of that specific time? Knowing the word of God takes time, effort, study, and a burning desire to operate through God's way of living and being. Learn why consistent preparedness is important and how this approach will keep you alert and vigilant but at the same time ready. The truth of the matter is, as members of the kingdom we should always encourage one another to operate with consistent preparedness.

Continuing from last week’s episode, we decided to provide more context regarding sin and what it is. In Genesis chapter three we see the disobedience of Adam and Eve. Exercising freedom of choice, It was one action that enabled sin to enter their nature. They were immediately stricken with a sense of shame and unfitness, which is why they hid from God’s presence. The harsh reality is that they were deceived by a lie. Also, keep in mind that those who aren’t followers of Christ today, have been deceived with many lies. When the love of God was broken between humanity and God, humans were left with a condition of sin. With no love there is only fear and a lack of trust. The embracement of self and the concern of only ones self becomes what is the center. As Christmas is celebrated in many homes, let’s not forget the reason for the season: you can't have Christmas without Christ.
Humans are born in this world without knowing their identity, origin, purpose, and destiny. The secular view of the meaning of life says we should chase after love, wealth, happiness, self-development, wisdom, and influence. It's about flourishing in those types of purposes. However, in the Bible it is John who informs us about the three types of temptations that all humans are subjected to; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. According to Jesus, there are numerous things we should watch out for. So, if love, wealth, happiness self-development, wisdom, and influence aren’t the true meaning of life; what is the true meaning of life to a follower and believer in Christ?
Vulnerability in any type of relationship is a lot to ask of someone. There's also a huge difference in standards between God and humanity. Allowing someone in your mind and space, so that they can fully get to know you is a risk. Giving someone access to your thoughts, feelings, challenges, and weaknesses is a scary thing because there is a fear of being judged. I am sure that most of us have been hurt before. However, it's hard not to go through life without being affected negatively. Building most relationships requires vulnerability and trust. Without that you have nothing. In the book of James 4:8 it says, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” So the question becomes... are you willing to be open to develop your relationship with God ? Or is that too much of a tall task?
As believers, it is important to closely evaluate ourselves each and everyday. One mistake that can be easily made is to fall in the error of self righteousness. Having a great relationship with God is amazing on a personal level. But one thing we can’t bypass is the behavior of making others around us feel inferior. We look no further then the Pharisees who practiced this type of self righteousness often. It was rooted in the culture so much so that not washing your hands was such a big issue and varies more practices. Pull out a chair and take notes as Johnathan and Daniel break down the “Woes” Jesus brings up to the Pharisees at the dinner table. See what self righteousness is all about and looks like.

According to psychologists human beings have more than 6,000 thoughts per day. It is estimated that the average adult makes more than 35,000 decisions per day. 35,000. Your thought life can be affected by what you see, what you hear, and what you expose yourself to. We should not overlook what has the potential to inspire us in regards to our habits, choices, and motives. It is important to keep in mind that the quality of your thinking can determine the quality of your life. This is why Paul encourages us in Philippians Chapter 4 Verse 8: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me put it into practice.” Tune in to see how reading the word of God can change your thought life and bring light to your body.
The life of a believer requires one to be a light in a world full of darkness. Scripture says, "we must let our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven." As Ambassadors for Christ, we must represent the truth and what comes with it: confrontation and pushback, which at times isn't pleasant. As believers, we must have a teachable heart; this aides us with becoming more understanding. Johnathan and Daniel explain their experience on life as a believer, what you can expect as a believer, what is required of you: Why we must always be ready to give an account of the hope that we have? Why God is first in your life (even before mommy, daddy, brothers, sisters, and friends). "The Life of a Believer” is a conversation you don’t want to miss. The phrase used often by believers and non-believers is "Don't judge me!!" You have no right whatsoever! The reality is believers must show discernment. Immediately after Jesus says, “Do not judge,” He says, “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs.” Jesus mentions in another portion of scripture, “Watch out for false prophets by their fruit you will recognize them.” The point is how are we to discern who are the “dogs”, “pigs” and “false prophets” unless we have the ability to discern and make righteous judgments on doctrines and deeds? Jesus has given us permission to tell right from wrong and we must be wise in the way we deal with people. When we look at forgiveness. The popular view being, "Forgiveness is for you." I would suggest that People should reconsider what Jesus has done for them. The grace and mercy God appoints to them should be given to others as well. You don't want to miss this conversation, you might have a different view once it's concluded.
Jesus made it clear that, "In this world you will have !tribulations but take heart! I have overcome the world." Jesus warned us with foreknowledge of what was to come. Therefore, living Christ like is a challenge. There will be adversity in the midst of various obstacles that come your way. The question becomes: how will you handle it? Johnathan and Daniel discuss the "Parable of the Sower" in depth, while also revisiting "Calming the Storm". Is it ok to have concerns as a human being? Johnathan says yes but doubts have no place for a person whose operating in faith.
To be a follower of Christ, a core value you must have that is foundational is faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. What exactly does that look like? Jesus says, "Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." The mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds that exists. Jesus said that even faith as small or undeveloped as a mustard seed would be sufficient. The question is what does that look like? Johnathan and Daniel go through the scripture to show you examples of active faith. Johnathan reveals some startling discoveries in the book of Luke. Come receive some high quality information.
As believers, if you are curious about a meaning to a text in the scripture, Jesus encourages us to seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. Knowledge from God is reserved to those who study themselves approved and want to improve their knowledge of him, so don’t just read and ignore things that don’t make sense. Instead be a detective and try to find out why. That’s how you become an active reader of scripture. Look for patterns, principles, and precepts. Making note of certain things, so you can refer back to it. Read to understand, instead of going through the motions. Johnathan and Daniel discuss the reason for why God changes people’s names and what is “The truth”, not just any truth.
Being a believer isn't easy. There are scriptures in the Bible that we all wrestle with for sure. It's not suppose to be easy, in fact it's very hard. In the book of James, we are told that we should not merely listen to the word, and so deceive ourselves but do exactly what it says. The key is if we listen and receive Gods word, believe it to be foundational and the final authority in our lives, we will be blessed in what ever we do. Prayer is an opportunity that gives you personal access to have a heart to heart conversation with God. It's a chance in which you get to share your thoughts, concerns, dreams, and aspirations. Praying has the effect of improving your thought life and reassuring your faith in God. It's elevating your mind to understand that it's about what he has already done not what he is trying to do. When you pray it's about seeking strength from your inner being because in moments the spirit is willingly but the flesh is weak. Take notes as Johnathan provides some additional steps on how you can improve your prayer life. Let it flow, like a regular conversation you have with friends and family.
History tells us, regardless of the times, what has remained and continues to be a stable and a practice is tradition. When we look at culture it's simple; embodies a set of beliefs, ideas, behavior language, cuisine, music and art, which then represents a group of people that operate in that particular village or society. As for traditions, it's about ideas and beliefs that are given from generation to generation. I wouldn't call it rules, but rather guidelines. Jesus !addresses the Jewish traditions, but not in a way which brings him favor with religious leadership. Why is that? !What did he say and do? Was he justified? Did he have some salient points? We might have some answers, so take time out and give us a listen, you may not want to miss this one.
The only thing that is constant is change. Time is constantly changing and although you can't see it happening, every minute of the day we lose about 30,000 to 40,000 dead skin cells. The way we think changes based on circumstances and new information. Wikipedia is constantly making changes to it’s information on the world wide web. Now look at yourself in the mirror and ask: have you given God your all personally. Are there some habits in your old life that’s holding you back from completely serving God? Change isn’t easy but as believers we are expected to look the part. As Ambassadors for Christ we need to do and be better. Day by day growth can occur if we let it. Transformation doesn’t happen over night but I believe God wants change. So out with the old in with the new.
God, believe it or not, has the power to settle matters at WILL, in every situation. You could basically call that having “the final verdict” or “being the judge" of all outcomes. Take notes as Johnathan and Daniel review most of Luke chapter 5. You'll gain insight on how God made 4 moves, illustrating the power of ultimate supreme authority. 1. God paves a way, by making a way for so many... 2 and 3 He's a healer and deliver. 4. He's a rule breaker. He breaks through the status quo. All of this, for the love of his own creation. If that doesn't demonstrate the power of ultimate and supreme authority, then what does?
We all have gone through the process of growth, development, and expectation. We've been taught how to do simple things such as: writing our ABCs, doing our own laundry and chores. We have hygienic responsibilities such as: showering, brushing our teeth, combing and/or brushing our hair. Now there comes a point, after you've learned those skills, where you must perform them independently of your teacher. God also wants us to stand on our own two feet. Jesus came and provided us lessons on faith, boldness in living out our beliefs, the usage of scripture and applying it in real life situations. God as our teacher wants to see what we've got. Can we stand on our own two feet and be a moving force for the kingdom?
God is omnipotent, which means He's all-powerful. God can do what He wants, when He wants, with no warning. He is not subject to physical limitations like man is. Jesus made it clear when he says, "With man that may be impossible but with God all things are possible." Being omnipotent, God has the power over wind, water, gravity, physics, and for today's discussion TIME. God's power is infinite, or limitless. He also Delegates during government meetings with His Devine Council. God knows all things and nothing occurs to Him. "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care." Join the conversation with Johnathan and Daniel Drayton to get a breakdown of how this happens.
One of the most remarkable beliefs we have as a body of believers is that God came through the person Jesus Christ. Historical individuals have questioned God's ability to step into his own creation, and being among us here on earth. In the Gospel of John 14:8-10 Philip says, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us. "Jesus answered, “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?" Johnathan and Daniel break-down how God, through the life and person Jesus Christ, relates to all of us no matter the gender, race, or situation. Jesus Christ has been where we are now.
So often, we doubt God’s ability to follow through on our personal request, when all we need to do is trust. Why is trust so hard? Why does our faith blow out like a lit candle in the waiting? We look at our circumstances and all of a sudden think it's impossible. We should realize that with man, it may be impossible but with God, anything is possible. We need to know that we can not come to God in unbelief and expect anything from Him, but we must believe that He is more than able.
Johnathan shares his personal thoughts when he began to read the Gospels. "I thought that they all were the same not realizing that even though they are telling the life and story of Jesus Christ it was being done in a very unique way." Historically there are autobiographies and biographies written about people, so that we can reflect and reminisce about how they have changed or impacted history in a positive or negative way. Johnathan says, "If you pay close attention you'll see God was able to write a biography and a autobiography about himself." Stay tuned in to understand why he makes such a proclamation. He also introduces something new, the importance of devotional time.
In a year, we have 365 days, 12 months, 525,600 minutes and 31,536,000 seconds. Sometimes we take knowledge such as this for granted, not realizing we can do so much better if we pay attention to the little things. The truth of the matter is.... with so much information that is accessible to us, how do we still find ways to sabotage good things with such bad behavior? Why can't we stop, reflect, and then notice that we should express our thanks and appreciation for one another? We seem to have loss our manners along the way somehow. So often, humankind can have a habit of overlooking what matters. It's safe to say that humanity loves to challenge the status quo. Society has a habit of trying to do things on its own. Most of us obey the red light, right? When it says stop, we obey for the safety of others. That's just a simple and yet important law of obedience. When our parents tell us to do something, I would like to believe that many of us listen. It goes without saying that many of us have heard the saying "If you don't listen, you will feel." Obedience requires maturity and is also the acknowledgment of authority. Can we, as a society, ever admit that obedience is necessary in order for God to really move in our lives? God says "(He) opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble and oppressed." Can we be obedient and surrender our lives to Christ? It's a loaded question indeed.
Have you ever read something and at first glance you were baffled, mystified, or perplexed? Personally, that happens all the time, if you ask us. "Testimony," we've heard this word used many of times. It is a formal written or spoken statement, especially one given in a court of law. Testimony is usually a form of evidence that is obtained from witnesses. What if witnesses turn into a witness, singular, only you? Can just one witness be enough to lead people to Christ? How do we know that the story is true? Johnathan and Daniel Drayton look at things from worldly and biblical views. A testimony can be powerful because it is a story about moving from death to life! Your personal testimony is a way to share the gospel with others by explaining your personal experience. How can your personal story give others hope an example of how God changes lives...?

Through another lens, maybe leaving is justifiable because you shouldn't have to tolerate foolishness from anyone. Can you infact learn something from staying in it too long? Is quitting a loser’s mentality? How about when it comes to committing to God? Is it a conviction or is it a preference to have faith in Jesus Christ. Upon that thought, why should we trust God? Faith is in the center of the Christian faith. The Bible provides a reason to trust God, but why isn't the inspiring word of God enough to believe.
Love is something we all desire to experience, are we wrong? Love comes from several avenues. One of the hardest things to understand in the beginning as a believer is how certain biblical verses can become relatable to your own personal situation and how certain comprehension of those verses must manifest itself through experience. One of the most underrated questions most unbelievers ask is, how does one experience the love of God? Or what is the love of God ? You'll be surprised how obvious this answer is. Sometimes it takes an act of God, to open your eyes to something that's always been right there in front of your face. Just like most people in some situations, all it takes is a little assistance from God.
The kind of qualities you look for in a friend matters, let's be honest. In order to have a bond and develop true mutual affection with someone, you need to know if there's a chance for things to get personal and comfortable. Just like humankind strives to build a reputation in hope that a legacy is continued, God has his own reputation and legacy to maintain. If we claim to be in a relationship with Him we must remember class, character, integrity, reliability, leadership, and kindness are what matters. Who we hangout with, matters. If we claim to be in association with God we must act like it. People are watching, and so is our heavenly Father.
After a trip to Virginia, to emotionally support a friend, Johnathan reflects on what it's like to ride on a greyhound bus traveling more than 5 hours. Life is all about taking it one day at a time. Being raised in a traditional Christian home, living my Christain faith through the shelter of my parents, at some point I realized that wouldn't be enough. The truth of the matter is, we live our lives on levels and arrive in stages. After finishing college, having read all these books to get good grades in school, I knew I needed to accept the reality that the Holy Bible, which sat on the bookshelf collecting dust, wouldn't read itself. Getting to know God and building a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, my savior, was a Priority. I've heard so much about the Bible being a contradiction, but I had to see for myself and through the discovery of Hermeneutics, the game was changed.
