In this episode, I'll be talking about the importance of cultivating joy throughout your life. I'll be sharing techniques on how to find and keep it, and talk about some of the Rumi poems and quotes that have helped me on my journey. Looking for tips on how to have a joyful life? Look no further! This talk will teach you everything you need to know about cultivating joy in your everyday life and help you reach your goals and dreams.
By the end, you'll be better equipped to live a meaningful, successful life! I'm sharing with you some tips on how to cultivate joy throughout your life. Finding joy is important, not just during periods of happiness or pleasure, but throughout your whole life.
In this video, I'm sharing with you some tips on how to find joy and keep it throughout your life. From Rumi poems to Rumi quotes, this video will help you cultivate a joyful life that's full of meaning and success!
Cultivate This to Bring Joy to Your Journey…The famous 13th-century Persian poet Rumi said: Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī"Submit to a daily practice. "Your loyalty to that is a ring at the door. Keep knocking, and the joy inside will eventually open a window and look out to see who's there."
Key Point: Indeed, finding joy in your journey is such an important element of living a happy and fulfilled life. While there are those who will advise not attempting to "find joy" but simply letting it come to you (and our ability to receive such is indeed very important), I would agree with Rumi; we can proactively create an environment where joy is likely to result. And daily practice can go a long way toward that happening.
What is your daily practice? Is it arising early and getting a good start on your day? Is it making sure to take time to meditate and contemplate? Is it eating a healthy breakfast? Is it exercising? Reading? Is it being sure to hug and kiss your family members and tell them that you love them? Of course, it’s not just one of the above; it’s everything you do that helps you to find this joy in your journey. And the more they are part of daily practice — well, you know I’m going to say — the “more better-er-er” and “more effective-er” it’s probably going to be.
Today’s Exercise: With a pad and pencil (or screen and keyboard), think about this and note everything you do during the day that brings/elicits/sets you up for joy.

When considering the advantage of listening more than speaking, there’s an old saying: “I don’t learn anything…while I’m talking.”
In other words, we learn when we listen, not when we speak.
And I happen to believe that’s wonderful advice…in general.
However, I’d like to explore something that may at first seem rather counterintuitive.
It seems that while we are speaking — if/when we stay conscious of what we’re saying — we actually CAN learn while we speak.
Key Point: As we listen to/observe what we ourselves are saying, we can take in this information and utilize it as a guide to determine whether we are on the right track…or whether a “course correction” is needed.
We can even replay our words later to ourselves in order to determine the same.
Powerful Thought: I often quote or paraphrase the iconic author, Joan Didion, who famously said, “I write entirely to find out what I'm thinking, what I'm looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.”
Of course, there are also those people who say something, and then believe it…because they said it! ;-)
That’s not what we’re talking about here.
While I’ll still suggest that indeed we should think before we speak, let’s also observe what we say when we do speak.
The insights into ourselves can be enlightening!
Today’s Exercise: Ready to practice this? Yes, think first before you speak. However, when you do speak, be aware and review afterward.

Your Past Is Your Past...How To Write Your Future
I saw a wonderful quote in Spanish (yes, I had to check Google translate on a couple of words). :-)
It said, "Nunca habrá un borrador para corregir el pasado, pero siempre habrá un lápiz para escribir el futuro!” —José Oscar González Hernández I’m fairly certain that in English it says…
Key Point: “There will never be an eraser for correcting the past, but there will always be a pencil to write the future.”
WOW!
So often we like to discuss finding joy in our very journey of life.
Perhaps we can do this most effectively by always keeping in mind that while we can learn from the past, we embrace joy by writing our future…in the present.
The Lesson: While lessons from the past in terms of financial, business, physical, and relational knowledge itself are fairly easy to turn into knowledge and wisdom for the future, it’s much more difficult with some of our more deeply held emotional issues. One reason for this is that we’re often unaware or unconscious of the fact that these issues are even part of our “belief system” (what I call our unconscious operating system). We don’t know it’s an “issue that can be corrected” because we simply see it as a natural — if uncomfortable — part of our life. And we don’t work on that which we don’t see as successfully amendable or...writable. The good news is, they are! And, you can!
Exercise for Today: Do a personal “accounting” of those things you believe don’t serve your sense of joy and peace of mind or your happiness. Don’t concern yourself yet regarding why they are there, and please don’t judge yourself. For right now, just consider them.

Aside from the fact that hustle is exhausting, steadfast compliance with the hustle culture can lead to burnout. Yes, burnout is legitimate. The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines it as "a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed". Burnout causes employees to have a pessimistic approach to work. They experience a lack of motivation and energy to work and in turn, a decline in their work competence. Here’s why you should listen to this episode:
You will learn about the difficulties of the life of a hustler and what you can do
Schedule your day to get enough sleep
Try blocking time on your calendar for other activities
Take the necessary breaks
Value of empathy at your workplace
