For millions of residents in Lagos, the absence of water provided by the government is how they've lived most of their lives. The lagos state government however says it is working to provide water for the people, but after millions of dollars in investment, the stories of contaminated or epileptic and even in some cases total absense of water supply is the still the case. For News Extra today, Radio Now's Chika Agu looks at the impact of the absence of clean sustainable water on public health in Lagos state.

The assassination of President Jovenel Moise in his home in Port-au-prince on the 7th of July sent shockwaves across the world, with many wondering how a sitting President could be killed in his own home in such a brutal manner. Reports say some gun-wielding commandos shot him 16 times. He was 53. His wife, Martine Moise who was shot too is receiving treatment at a hospital in Florida, USA. So far, 21 persons have been arrested in connection with the killing including someone identified as a key suspect. However, Haitians wonder what the future holds for them as they transition into another government.
What do you do when the country you call home is in chaos, riddled with news of terrorism, kidnapping, corruption, election fraud, and everything that makes a country, what a country shouldn’t be?
The Ripples Center for Data and Investigative journalism thinks the answer is to have a frank and robust conversation about the ills bedevilling the country.

Right now, thousands of families are going through the pain of uncertainty for their missing loved ones and are unable to grieve. Several people are taken from their homes, forcefully torn apart from their family and never seen or heard from again. More than 44,000 people across Africa are registered as missing with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of war and armed violence.
Recycling is practised in many developed countries but it is yet to gain traction in this part of the world. Recycling is believed to result in a more competitive economy and a cleaner environment and can contribute to more sustainable development.
Look around your environment and count how many products are made of plastic around you. Ask yourself where they all end up when you no longer have a need for them and now multiply by the number of persons in your household, office, and neighbourhood, and what you have is a lot of plastic, too much plastic in fact. Scavenging activities can reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by recycling inorganic and organic materials.

World Hepatitis Day is observed each year on 28 July to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver that causes severe liver disease and hepatocellular cancer. It is a day set aside to bring the world together under a single theme to raise awareness of the global burden of viral hepatitis and to influence real change.
This year’s theme is “Hepatitis can’t wait”, conveying the urgency of efforts needed to eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030. Over the past years, there seems to be a renewed increase in the use of Liquified Petroleum Gas, both in the rural and urban areas, as an alternative to firewood and kerosene for cooking, this is because LPG is environment friendly, clean, economical and safe,
But right now, Nigerians are paying more to cook with gas.
