“It’s ok to be uncertain, but it’s not ok to be unclear” John Maxwell

Leading through chaos to clarity…

It's something every leader must be able to do. But how?

We got two prime examples recently. Monday, January 2nd, the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bills were playing. Bills player Damar Hamlin suffered a life-threatening injury.

It was a chaotic situation. One that became clear thanks to the tenaciously humble leadership of Bills Coach, Sean McDermott and Bengals Coach, Zac Taylor.

They each gave us a wonderful example of leading through chaos to clarity. An example we can all learn from and be inspired by.

As you listen to today’s episode of The Leadership Podcast Factory, you’ll hear Greg’s thoughts on how we can lead like these two. He reveals

· Four specific requirements for leading through chaos to clarity

· A key ingredient of leadership success

· What you must first do to deal with the reality of a chaotic situation

· A trait we must have to lead by example

· Why you must own the chaotic you find yourself and your team in

Remember this: in any chaotic situation, stress isn’t your enemy, lack of purpose is. Once you find your purpose, and it’s bigger than the pain, you’ll press through it. And no amount of chaos will be able to knock you off course.

Greg’s advice in today’s episode will inspire you. It will help you find your purpose. And lead through chaos to clarity.

In episode 5, Greg talked about the importance of hiring the right people. He gave you valuable tips on how to do that.

In episode 6, he talked about how to develop them once you’ve hired them.

So what’s next? You have to keep them. That’s a crucial topic Greg explores in today’s episode.

He reveals

·      What you must do to optimize your team members’ behavior

·      A proven way to get your people to do more of the right things

·      A vital step to take even though it will be painful

·      Two things that change behavior

·      An unpleasant action you must take to motivate your high performers

You also discover when to administer discipline and negative consequences. As well as when to remove yourself from the situation and let HR take over. And what to do before you get HR involved.

Bottom line: keeping the right team members, and terminating the wrong ones, are critical to your success as a leader. You must do both of these if you are going to stop the chaos.

But how do you do them the right way? Listen to today’s episode of The Leadership Factory Podcast to find out.

View Details

In episode 6, Greg talked about the importance of hiring the right people. He gave you valuable tips on how to do that.

So let’s say you’ve brought the right people into your organization. What’s next? You need to develop them.

But how? How do you turn them into valuable, productive team players who stay with you for the long haul and make a powerful contribution? As opposed to “quiet quitters” who soon leave you.

In today’s episode of The Leadership Factory Podcast, Greg shows you how.

As you listen, you’ll discover

· Why you want a solid, structured onboarding process

· What you must understand to develop your people the best you can

· What you want to do to make your new employee training sustainable

· A key reason Greg stayed with his first post-college employer for eight years

· Something you must do on day one of orientation

Greg also reveals a prime benefit of constructive feedback and how to give it in a way that builds your employees up and makes them feel good about doing the thing you want them to do.

Bottom line: leadership is about results. And if you don’t develop your people well, your results will be poor. Your team, your organization and your career will pay a terrible price.

So if you’re tired of your people not showing up and doing their job well, if you’re tired of your boss berating and coming down hard on you over something someone on your team did, if you’re sick and tired of endlessly following up with your people to make sure they do what they’re supposed to, understand this…

There’s a better way to lead and develop your employees for their benefit and yours.

Let’s face it: your company or organization can’t win if you don’t have the right people on your team. Nothing will do more to “sink your ship” and sabotage your success than having the wrong people working for you.

So how do you hire the best? Drawing from over three decades of in-the-trenches leadership experience, Greg explains how in this episode of The Leadership Factory Podcast.

As you listen, you’ll discover

• The impressive traits of one of the top five people Greg has ever hired

• Why you want to make the person you’re interviewing feel special, and how to do it

• The single worst thing you can do in an interview; it’s probably not what you’re thinking

• Important interview questions you should ask each candidate

• Ten important post-interview questions to ask about each candidate

Bottom line: when you have the right people “on the bus”, the problem of how to motivate and manage your team largely goes away. And your job as a leader becomes a lot easier.
