You're in the right place. In this podcast we're reading the book of Matthew, the gospel that was written in Hebrew specifically intended for a Jewish audience. Each week I will read through a chapter with special guest and we will discuss the all the history and cultural references taking place, while also having some fun. Completely new to the Bible? No problem - I've got you! The first episode of the podcast I lay out the story of the Old Testament in an hour to give you a good foundation on what everyone is talking about in the New Testament. And in the second episode I go over everything that happened in the 400 years between the Old Testament and the gospels (WHICH IS HUGELY IMPORTANT!). The 400 years between the last words of the Tanakh (or Old Testament) and the Gospels are absolutely critical to understanding who the Jews of the New Testament were and what they were expecting of G-d, the Messiah and of themselves.
Of course, an hour is not enough to cover each and every story in the scriptures, but I did my best to cover the major moments that would define the Nation of Israel as a people and G-d's Covenantal relationship with them.
