We are in the early stages of the H-2B Visa application process. The US Department of Labor has opened and closed the 3 day window for US businesses to submit their application (Form ETA-9142B) for approval to hire temporary foreign workers. Each cycle, the DOL received tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of requests for temporary foreign workers, however there are only 33,000 visas available for each cycle. This creates a challenging, and often frustrating situation for businesses as well as the DOL to handle processing this large quantity of applications. That's where the lottery system comes into play.
