I'd love to say that I was exactly like Mary sitting at Jesus' feet obedient and learning all the time. But I am the messy Mary in that picture. Join me as I work through my messes with Jesus!
Let me ask you a question. How would you really feel if Jesus became your house guest? Knowing that He would see how you act when you are at home and nobody is watching.
Who are we, that the Lord looks at us and sees us as a crown of beauty? I am a pretty flawed human being, so the idea that the Lord looks at me, with all my good, bad, and ugly, and sees beauty is humbling.
Somewhere along the way, I got caught up in the rat race of life. I decided that in order to be a success in life I had to have a job that made lots and lots of money. Otherwise, I just wasn't cutting it.
Well meaning counselors, friends, and family members told me that I was enough. That I was perfect just as I was. Society continues telling us that today.But here is the thing, that is a lie.
I am going to let you on a secret. It is my weapon of choice when I feel like I've drifted away from God. Ok, now make sure you are listening carefully.
Are there areas of your life that are "off limits" to Jesus. Places in your house that you have keep out signs posted?
Learn to experience Scripture more fully by putting yourself into a person's shoes who is in the Bible. Use all your senses to immerse yourself in each verse.
Prayer is just a conversation between you and God. There are no right or wrong words to say
Sometimes, we are doing all we can to follow Jesus, but we still end up being in the midst of a storm in our life. That's when we need to remember that with Jesus in our boat we will get where He wants us to go.
Are you trying please people or God? Trying to please people can be a heavy weight that becomes a burden over time. And it's a burden God never asked us to carry.
The Bible instructs us to imitate God because we are He is children. Are your words and actions imitating God or imitating the world?

During life's storms we don't always have control over the waves of the storm, but we do have control over how we react to the storms.
When we begin a relationship with Jesus, He changes us from the inside out. He puts a new song in our hearts.
When we are disobedient we turn away from God’s voice basically relegating it into the background of our life. And after time we no longer hear Him.
When Jesus heals us from the inside out we see things differently. We are able to view the world around us with eyes of hope.
As Christians our lives should reflect the idea that there needs to be less of me and more of Jesus. What is your life reflecting?
What letter are you writing to the world around you? Do people see Jesus when they look at you?
Are you struggling with something in your life right now? I encourage you to remember that God gives us exactly what we need each day.
Sometimes we think God isn't answering our prayers, but maybe He has answered them just not in the way we expected.
Do you ignore God's warning bell to have a just little bit more fun? Flirting with danger might be fun, but God warns us because He loves us and knows what is best for us.
Just like a house needs a load bearing wall to hold it up and together, we need the same. When God is our load bearing relationship He keeps us standing up and together through our lives in the good and bad times.
We can't out sin God's grace. However, there is a caveat to that because we need to remember that when we sin there are are always consequences to choosing that behavior.
As human beings we seem to have a litmus test to measure how much bad is really too bad for God to forgive. The good news is we can’t out sin God’s love and grace!
When God asks you to do something is your first response to ask "Why?" Or do you trust Him enough to simply be obedient - no questions asked?
