Welcome to EP9 of JustUs with Harlem’s own Gustave Koumare. Gustave and his partner Jeremy Tucker co-founded RECESS in 2019. RECESS serves as a multicultural financial playground for disadvantaged student-athletes, to educate them on the power of financial literacy. The aim of RECESS is to generate awareness and engagement through content creation and partnering events. RECESS believes there are extreme opportunities in the timing of the current market given trends after pasts crisis. Image and likeness (NIL) amongst student-athletes has also opened a new market of entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, RECESS is aware that knowledge around basic finances, business, retaining, and growing wealth is not regularly taught. RECESS plans to change this! Welcome to EP6 of JustUs with Dale Thompson. Rapper/songwriter Dale Thompson’s love for music was present at an early age but truly sparked during his senior year while attending Brockton High School. Rapping through crowded hallways in-between classes and freestyling for friends at weekend kickbacks was just the beginning. After graduation he released his first mixtape, Everything and More. The tape received much attention locally for his wordplay and versatility and solidified Dale as a major potential in the state. Dale later expanded his network to Atlanta to learn the business and surround himself with like minded talent. In late 2021, he released his most recent project, Dreamland, which has currently accumulated over 300,000 streams across services. With a new year upon us, he plans to take his talents even further and show the world just how much he can do inside a booth. Welcome to another episode of JustUs featuring Legacy the Label! Legacy, The Label was founded by Ellen Honsa and Lauren Novak. They are two therapists (she/her) working full-time in the field assisting amazing individuals to overcome hardship and embrace their authentic selves. Through wearing mental health clothing, they began to notice that the clothing often sparked a conversation around mental health or allowed others to know that they were allies. Thus, Legacy The Label was created in efforts to #BurnTheStigma surrounding mental health.
