Harrison jumps in to share his thoughts on Drag X Drive, a unique $20 release that Nintendo spotlighted despite its unconventional design. Is it a proof-of-concept game that hints at a brighter future for inclusive character representation, or just a flat experiment?
We also shell out some time for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown and the wild state of the TMNT franchise. From Shredder’s Revenge to Mutants Unleashed, it feels like the Turtles are everywhere—does this variety signal growth, or a lack of focus?
Then it’s back to Hyrule for our Spotlight Game of the Week: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Long considered the “black sheep” of the series, we unpack its bold ideas, cult following, and ask: would a modern remake finally give it the respect it deserves?

Welcome back to Nintendo Therapy, your weekly session for dissecting the latest Nintendo news, spotlighting beloved classics, and occasionally asking the big questions—like whether Mario and Peach are just friends or if you’ve really beaten a game if you don’t remember why you’re opening a chest.
In Episode 132, Kevin revisits A Link to the Past and unpacks why it might be the greatest video game leap in history—yes, even bigger than the jump to Ocarina of Time. He also discusses the muscle memory of mastery and why sometimes nostalgia gets it right.
Harrison dives deep into the internet’s strange obsession with Nintendo romances, Peach and Mario’s ambiguous status, and why projecting romance onto games aimed at kids is…weird. Also: his take on DK Bananza and Mario Kart World, and whether this new DK entry is cause for concern.
The crew also reacts to the latest Partner Direct, where surprises like Octopath Traveler 0, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, and Monster Hunter Stories 3 had RPG fans cheering—and Kevin a little jealous on behalf of Pokémon.

We're not Nintendo experts—just lifelong fans in need of a little therapy.
In this special bonus episode, I share my early thoughts on Donkey Kong Bonanza, Nintendo’s newest open-world platformer. It’s packed with familiar gameplay elements — from Mario Odyssey’s exploration to Tears of the Kingdom’s world design — but still feels fresh, nostalgic, and just plain fun. I talk Amiibo functionality, skill trees, outfit abilities, and why this could be the game that finally makes me a Donkey Kong fan.
Whether you're an Odyssey veteran or brand new to DK, this one's worth a listen.

👻 Yes, the 2009 Ghostbusters game makes an appearance...
🧙♂️ Yes, there's some Final Fantasy magic (and maybe a little chaos)...
🕰️ Yes, a few timeless classics still hold up today.
💔 And yes... Chrono Cross might not have aged quite as well as we hoped.
🔥 Expect spicy takes, some unexpected S-tiers, and at least one game that probably doesn’t deserve the love it gets.

We also weigh in on the Pauline reveal, the $70 price tag, and why this could've (and maybe should’ve) been a launch title. Plus, we revisit a classic debate: Do Nintendo’s movies actually help sell games? Kevin brings the numbers, and the answer isn’t as clear as the hype suggests.
Harrison shares a wild rumor about Stellar Blade potentially heading to Switch 2, while Shawn can’t stop imagining DK’s animal transformations and explosive world design.
Then it’s on to the Mario Party spotlight — a chaotic romp through the N64 era.
