“Purge me with hyssop”…purge is to rid of all guilt and uncleanliness. And hyssop every time it is referenced in the Bible involves the taking of one life for another.
Are you full of sin you haven’t came before God with? Just get it right with him! He sent his son to die on the cross in place of you for your sin. To rid you of the uncleanliness and guilt. Repent! He will restore and renew a right spirit within you and restore the joy of your salvation!

Joshua 24:14-16
** Thought: What is the "therefore"...there for? (vs. 14)
- There's two things to watch for in man, his tongue and his feet. What he says and where he goes.
Four Key Points
- Person
- Joshua states "choose YOU this day"...this means individually we as people need to choose for ourselves who we will serve. (Philippians 2:12 - we have to workout our own salvation)

Others don't walk our walk of life for us. We ourselves are responsible for ourselves and how close to God we are.

Present
- Joshua says to choose THIS DAY...not next week. Next month, next year, but THIS DAY.
- We must choose EVERYDAY to serve the Lord. Because there are days people will wake up and say not today...and they decide not to pray or read or spend time with God. One day might not seem like a big deal but then it turns into two days...then three. And before long you've walked away further and further from your relationship with God.
- When we choose everyday to serve the Lord, he can use us to bless the lives of others down the road. We can make an impact on people in such a way that God can save them.

What we choose to do everyday with our lives now will affect our future family and affect our following generations even after we're dead and gone. Example: If we don't choose to serve God now, our family to follow down the lineage

Positional

We need to take position and stand for who we choose to serve. We can't love both the world and God, we need to position ourselves with one or the other.

Permanent
- Who we choose to serve each day is permanent. You can't undo the past, but God's grace covers us in our sin in our old self.
- We need to ask ourselves if what we're doing, bring us closer to the Lord or further away.

Key Verse - 116:12
"What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?"
Three Key Points
1. God answers prayers
2. God gives us grace
3. God is merciful
After all these benefits, the psalmist still asks the question what he can give back to God. He looks for ways to repay him.
TAKE UP THE CUP - RECEIVE IT
- The psalmist says he will take up the cup of salvation, meaning there was a sacrifice made to us and we need to accept the sacrifice presented to us. We will drink from this cup and voluntarily dwell with Christ.
- In order for God to offer us the gift of salvation, He had to send his son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins to present the sacrifice.
LIFT UP THE CUP OF SALVATION
- We not only should receive the cup of salvation, but should continually lift up our cup of salvation. Outwardly speak about Jesus and stand up for what we believe in. Go public! Don't be ashamed to be a Christian.
CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD
- The more we call on God and he answers our prayers, the more faith it'll grow within us. And with this faith it helps us face the next trial...and the next. And the next.
- Too many people forget just how powerful prayer can be and don't call out to Him in time of trouble or need.
- When we fail to call on God first, we put him on the same level as everything else.
- If we call on man first, we completely miss God, but if we call on God first, He can send us man to help.
PAY OUR VOWS - keeping our promise
- We need to keep our promise to the Lord.
- We ask how we can give back to God and the way to do that is to simply keep our promise. Stay faithful to the Lord no matter what comes our way! Even when it's hard and we question how we can still give back to God when we get bad news....just keep your promise to Him.
- No matter what news we get in life or what trials we face, we simply need to still stay faithful. Just keep our promise to Him.
