In this episode we dive deeper into the topics we touched on in Part 1 with Lianna. She shares her experience being outed instead of having the opportunity to tell her family first. We talk about what it's like having the hard conversations with our families about tough topics and giving insight into how we think you can approach things if you are in a similar spot.

We touch on the importance of healing your own wounds and how intergenerational cycles play a key role in how you show up in your day- to -day.

Loving myself through big growth experiences has been a challenge. So trying to transition from living and believing high demand religious rules has been tough to heal from and unlearn.

If you haven't listened to Part 1 with Lianna, I invite you to do that before listening to this episode! Thanks for tuning in friends.

In this episode we dive deep into my first ketamine experience. As a former member of the mormon church, the local ketamine treatment clinic shared that it is very common for ex mormons to go in for treatments to minimize symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression.

What exactly is ketamine? It was first synthesized in the 1960’s as an anesthetic or a sedative for war veterans. It doesn’t just target one area of the brain it targets several which is why it's so effective in treating anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms. Loving myself through big growth experiences has been a challenge. So trying to transition from living and believing high demand religious rules has been tough to heal from and unlearn.

I have tried several therapy and healing modalities and in this episode I will share more candidly with you about my decision to try ketamine as a healing modality to treat my anxiety and symptoms of PTSD from childhood and religious trauma.

Ryan Bean was the breath work coach that I did my ketamine therapy breath work session with. You can find his podcast and IG here: https://www.instagram.com/ryanbeanyoga/

So what has your experience been like with a life or business coach? How has your life improved by hiring a coach who helps you reframe and help you move forward in your life experiences? Well today, we are exploring finding liberation through acceptance and courage. The amazing accountability coach, Becky Mollenkamp talks about her journey becoming a value based coach and the struggles with owning her stories of abortion, leaving behind ‘good girl mentality’ and developing her now deep rooted value system. She shares her insight into how important it is to show up as your authentic self in your coaching business and how that can help you find your dream clients.

You are going to love this episode, I learned so much from becky about the importance of being honest and up front with clients about your value system. I learned that her stories about abortion are brave, and courageous. Coming from a highly religious background it was humbling for me to understand and hear her journey because that was something I was never open to hearing.

Come on this journey with me and Becky, let’s own our stories.

In this episode, I invited my best friend Jazmyn to be a guest and share her very unique story about growing up as one of two women of color in a very conservative community and high school.

When she was younger and even during the Black Lives Matter movement, it was hard for her to comprehend how people didn't understand the depth of racial issues happening in our country and in Utah.

Me being her best friend, I didn''t understand- the way I lived life was dedicated to a religion that was heavily focused on white privilege. It wasn't until she opened up and shared her experience that I made the decision to get educated.

Being raised in a conservative culture has it's own set of challenges when trying to see the world through a different lens. Our identities mirrored what the mormon church taught- I realized that by staying in the faith, I had to be comfortable with not knowing who and what I truly stood for.

I believe that by sharing our stories, we can help others find strength and encouragement in their own life journey. Please subscribe to Own Your Story Podcast Channel to follow my journey and tune into listening to other people's amazing life stories.

In this episode, I share my story of my disciplinary counsel and why I left the mormon church.

It's been a long journey of self discovery and gaining self awareness.

I hope by sharing my story, it will help others who are looking for encouragement and hope in their own journey.

This is the most vulnerable thing I've ever done- sharing my story with the world. When you make the decision to leave mormonism, it feels as though your world is falling apart. I was caught in the battle of "things aren't adding up" and " just have faith."

My entire network was created in mormonism, the way I lived life was dedicated to the religion and with that I realized how I was living my life in fear.

My identity mirrored what the church taught- I realized that by staying in the faith, I had to be comfortable with not knowing who I truly was and what I was meant to do here. I knew the cost of leaving the church would come with a heavy price.

It came to the point in my life where I was ready for that undertaking. My story isn't rare, it's actually quite common and comes with a lot of heartache. Many people who leave don't have a lot of resources and I wanted to change that. You can decide to leave a high demand religion and find peace after.

I am living proof of that! Part 2: In this episode, I share my story of growing up in purity culture and navigating relationships being a member of the mormon church. I'll also share a couple mission stories when I served a mormon mission in Argentina.

I hope by sharing my story, it will help others who are looking for encouragement and hope in their own journey.

This is the most vulnerable thing I've ever done- sharing my story with the world. When you make the decision to leave the mormon faith, it feels as though your world is falling apart. I was caught in the battle of "things aren't adding up" and " just have faith."

My identity mirrored what the church taught- how women should act, look and aspire to become. I no longer wanted to fit that mold because I realized that by staying in the faith, I had to be comfortable with not knowing who I truly was and what I was meant to do here. I have a unique upbringing as a child adopted at birth and raised in the mormon faith. My parents were very devout members, and living in a high demand religion effects every part of your life. When you make the decision to leave, it feels as though your world is falling apart. I was caught in the battle of "things aren't adding up" and " just have faith."

My entire network was created in mormonism, the way I lived life was dedicated to the religion and with that I realized how I was living my life in fear.

Members are taught over and over again that people who leave, are in a way less worthy or deserving of God's love because they aren't following the strict guidelines of the religion and members are, therefore they are entitled to more of God's blessings and rewards.

When I started my faith transition process, the meaning of the above statement didn't ring true to me any longer. I was trying to make sense of things and finding my identity. My identity mirrored what the church taught that women should act, look and aspire to be. I no longer wanted to fit that mold because I realized that by staying in the faith, I had to be comfortable with not knowing who I truly was and what I was meant to do here.

I knew the cost of leaving the church would come with a heavy price. It came to the point in my life where I was ready for that undertaking.
