The Nintendo DSi was the third entry into Nintendo's family of DS Consoles, yet the first to include new features that would then become on later DS handhelds, including dual cameras, music playback and built in access to the internet.
But while all this was great, there were some things it didn't do as well (and no, I'm not talking about the lack of a Game Boy Advance slot). Instead, I'm hinting at the lack of accessibility features on the handheld, especially the lack of accessibility features for gamers who required alternative input methods, which is why I've been researching into this, while trialing a customised version of the Nintendo DSi, which has been modified with a switch interface glued into it, with 3.5mm jacks in it that are mapped to the L and R buttons.
In this video, I'm going to tell you how much easier the Customised DSi makes it to play 5 more games.

Technology has advanced in numerous ways throughout the 21st Century, with massive leaps since the century started 25 years ago.
While video tapes were still popular at the beginning and a few years into the century, it wasn't long before the DVD became more popular, and we're now living in an era where streaming is ultimately more popular than both of those other forms of media. Furthermore, we’ve also seen the digitising of print, with apps such as Kindle and Apple Books leading to a present where absolutely all print has been digitised.
In this video, I'm going to be documenting how much technology has changed over the last 20 years.

Although the Nintendo DS was a touch screen and had some games that were accessible, not all of them were.
For the last few years, I’ve been loaning a customised DSi, that has had a switch interface hot wired into it, so I can plug accessibility switches into it, that will act as the L and R buttons.

Apple held an event on the 7th of May, which was known before it was streamed as the Let Loose event. It concentrated completely on iPads, with new versions of every iPad model announced. However, Apple also announced new updates to their Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro Apps — as well as others — that will enhance film production on an iPad, while also flirting with AI as well.

The M1 Pro MacBook Pro was announced by Apple back in October 2021, carrying on from the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M1 Chip, 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Chip and Mac Mini with the M1 Chip, which were all released in the year long forgotten, also known as 2020. The chip that it technically comes with is an M1 Pro, but you can also get a version with an M1 Max Chip. However, as of 2024, it has been discontinued, but you can still get refurbished versions through Apple and Amazon as well, though you won’t get them for anything cheaper than still a thousand and something pounds, because it is still a new enough model.

CES is the world's largest technology event, paving the ground for breakthrough technologies and global innovators. This year's event took place between 9 January - 12th of January, with a number of companies showcasing their newest products during the event.
One of the companies that showcased a lot of their new technologies was Samsung, with products that have been built from the ground up with a big focus on AI.
In this video, I react to their conference, while telling you how accessible their newest tech is, despite how difficult it might be for me to do this, since I am a natural born Apple fan.

Apple recently announced the M3 family of chips and the new M3 MacBook Pro / M3 iMac during their October event. These new chips and Macs offer a higher amount of Storage and RAM, as well as a faster processor, but that will not be enough to make the most up to date Macs appealing to everyone. So in this episode, you get to hear me reacting to Apple’s October Event, while also telling you my thoughts.

The Nintendo DSi was first launched back in 2008, and was the 3rd DS console to ever be released.
It was the first DS to include a camera (before even smartphones were capable of taking pictures), as well as being the first to get an audio player.
However, while the DSi (and other consoles in the family) were groundbreaking for the time, there were a lot of games that were very inaccessible.
That's why I contacted the Special Effect Gaming Charity to customise a DS for me, which I have now been loaning for some time.

The Apple Vision Pro was the last thing to be announced at the end of Apple's WWDC23 conference on the 5th of June this year, that is supposed to move us into a new era of computing.
The device comes with features that will be familiar if you have had an iPhone, an iPad or an Apple Watch, while also offering AR / VR Features. And you can even use it with your eyes, your fingers or your voice.
But how accessible is it going to be for disabled users?

WWDC23 took place from the 5th of June until the 9th of June 2023, with a live showcase that was held on the first day.

On the 9th of May this year, Apple announced that Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro were coming to the iPad.
Both of the popular editing softwares have been redesigned so that they can be used with all new touch-interfaces, with new features being available as well.

On the 4th of January 2023 at CES, PlayStation announced their first access controller.
The controller has been created to help gamers create their own customisable controller layouts, that will help disabled gamers to play for longer.
It has been available for preorders since July 4, and costs £79.99 to buy.

Apple first launched the HomePod in 2018, 3 years after Amazon released their first Echo into the public and 2 years after Google released the Google Home. The original HomePod was then followed by the HomePod Mini in November 2020, before the Original HomePod was discontinued in March 2021.
But on the 18th of January this year, Apple announced the 2nd Generation HomePod.
In this episode, I react to their announcement and give my thoughts on it.

The first Mac Mini came out in 2005, marking a way for new users of the Mac to start getting into it, thanks often to their lower price. If anyone wanted to get a Mac Mini, they would only have to buy the Mac Mini and a compatible display.
The MacBook Pro, meanwhile, was first launched in 2006, and was the first Mac EVER to feature a backlit keyboard. It was also the first to include a MagSafe power connector. But most important, it was originally only available in 15". This remained the case until 2019, when the 15" MacBook Pro was discontinued and replaced by the 16" model. Then in 2021 it was replaced again, that time by the 14".
But in January 2023, Apple announced their new Mac Minis and new 14" and 16" MacBook Pros, which have both been powered with the M2 Chip.
In this episode, you get to hear me reacting to their announcement and giving my thoughts.
In 2008, Nintendo launched the DSi, which was the third DS console to be released (the first one having been released in 2005).
It was the first Nintendo DS to include a camera (before even smartphones got that capability)and to have an audio player, while also being the second to get the Nintendo Web Browser, which allowed you to connect to the internet. But it was also the first to lose the Game Boy Advance slot which allowed gamers to play GameBoy games on a DS, which was disappointing for some.
However, while this was all groundbreaking for the time, there was still one downside to a couple of the games that the DSi — and other models — of the DS had, depending on whether or not you were a disabled person wanting to get into gaming, and that was when it came to not all the games being fully touch screen dependable, which is something I got annoyed about as a child.
That was until recently when I convinced Special Effect to create a customised DSi for me, which has an external switch port plugged into the stylus port so I can plug external gaming switches into it, which act as the L and R buttons, since those were buttons which I could never reach.
In this episode, you'll get to hear my first experience testing this customised DSi out.
On 18th October 2022, Apple announced their 10th Generation iPad and 6th Generation iPad Pro (which both have the M2 Chip), along with some new accessories, including a new magic folio case and a new Apple Pencil.

Cancel culture and divisive politics has been moving into the work place for a couple of years, leading to cases where people have been forced out of work and have had to take their cases to the Supreme Court. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have all been attacked for their guidelines on free speech in recent months and year, especially after they deplatformed Donald Trump when he started claiming the 2020 Election result was wrong — though he has since been brought back on those platforms, as well as when people were allowed to spread misinformation about other issues in society, i.e, the pandemic, although some other things that started as a conspiracy theory back then, seem to be getting closer to be getting investigated now, e.g, the lab leak theory, which might have more truth to it than others.More closely, however, we’ve seen the battles that the Mermaids transgender charity and Stonewall have had with the LGB Alliance group as well, and how authors like JK Rowling have been facing death threats, as well as other people in the media, for standing up for the facts. And let’s not forget about the Russian interference that has been speculated in UK and American politics, and the hackers we’ve heard about getting involved with politics as well.

In September 2022, Apple announced 2 new releases of the Apple Watch, as well as the new iPhone 14. In this episode, I react to these announcements being made.
The 14” M1 Pro MacBook Pro was first announced by Apple in October 2021. You can choose between a version of the laptop that is powered with the M1 Pro Chip or the M1 Max Chip, and in today’s episode, I’ll be unboxing and setting up my 14” MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro Chip.
For a couple of years now, people have been debating whether E-Gaming should become a sport. While some people who argue in favour of it constantly bring up the tournaments they play at and teams they play on, those against argue that playing a sport video game doesn’t actually make it a sport. And that’s where the argument very often ends.
But over the last few years, we’ve witnessed a massive advance in technology, that has seen not only disabled people being able to play games, but has also led to improvements in AI and improvements in medical technology.
So in this episode, you’ll be hearing an audio version of an article I wrote last year, in which I argue that video games could help more disabled people compete in disabled sports.

The iPhone 13 was first announced and released by Apple in September 2021 at their September Apple Event. It’s available in 4 different models, those being:
- iPhone 13
- iPhone 13 Mini
- iPhone 13 Pro
- iPhone 13 Pro Max
In this episode, you get to hear an audio unboxing and setup of the phone.
Although Samsung was first founded as a grocery store in the 1930s, it moved into electronics in 1969, and is most recognisable for selling technology today. In 2008, they turned their attention towards developing Smart TVs, and have released countless models through the years.
In this review, I’ll be reviewing the Samsung Series 7 Smart TV, which was released in 2020, while also guiding you through how to set it up so you can control it with your phone.
Skullcandy is an American headphone company, founded by Rick Alden in 2003, which sells wired / wireless over ear headphones, as well as wired / wireless earphones, and wired / wireless gaming headsets.
In September 2018, they released their Skullcandy Venue Wireless Headphones, which are available in Red, White and Crimson, Black and Dark Blue.
In this episode, I review my red version of the Skullcandy Venue wireless headphones.
In 2021, Apple released their M1 14 and 16” MacBook Pro laptops. In this episode, I give them a summary.
In one of my earlier episodes, I told you all about the Manfrotto Variable Friction Mounting Arm, which can be used to help you hold down more than one button at a time if you struggle to do that. But the only problem with that is that it costs over £100.
In this episode, however, I will guide you through how to make a much cheaper version of the arm.
Blue is an American microphone company, founded in 1995, and which has been creating high performance microphones from the get go.
In 2005, they launched their first professional USB microphone — known as the Blue Snowball — and released the Blue Snowball ICEsoon after, which has a few other features compared to the snowball, including a custom cardioid condenser capsule.
In the modern day, both the Blue Snowball and Blue Snowball ICE are considered affordable, with the cost often fluctuating between £38.99 - £55.

The Pulse Red Xbox Controller for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S was released on the 12th of February 2021, shortly after the launch of the launch of the next generation Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
It is compatible with:
- Xbox Series X

- Xbox One (every console) and;
- Windows 10 PCs
In this, I give the controller a review.
The 2020 Smart Folio Keyboard Case was first announced in March 2020 with an original release date for May, but it was pushed back to mid-April for preorders later on. It was the first of Apple’s new cases to take on some MacBook style features, with a trackpad which had been added, and it also has a USB-C port which can be used for charging your iPad through the case.

The XG-13 Wireless earphones were developed by a company called Gazechimp, and they are in-ear only. They are capable of charging in the case they come with, and if you’d like to buy them, they are available on EBay, with some other versions available to purchase on Amazon.

The Xbox Adaptive Gaming Kit was released in November 2019, and was designed by Logitech. The kit includes material to act as a tray, Velcro and switches. In this, I review how helpful it is.
There have been noticeably more appearances of disabled characters over the last few years in all sorts of media, but especially in gaming.
This includes in gaming, with disabled characters who aren’t held back from their disabilities appearing in games, such as The Joker and Lester Crest.

Accessible technology started to become more common after the Disability Discrimination Act was signed into law, with Microsoft’s Windows 95 and Productivity Work’s pwWebSpeak starting the trend in the 90s.
As we moved into the 21st Century, Microsoft released Windows 2000, which came with an on screen keyboard.
In recent years, technology has grown even more accessible, even to the extent that disabled people are now able to play video games, and settings now exist for them to use keyboards and trackpads easier.
In this episode, I give suggestions on what accessibility options should exist to me technology and games even more accessible.
The term ‘home automation’was coined in the automobile industry about 1940, to describe the increased use of automatic devices and controls in mechanised production lines. Like many other things, it has continued to grow since the 1990s and the 2000s, and while the creators of some films that have premiered in the last 40 years didn’t get everything right, some noticeable films that have came out which feature home automation include the likes of ‘Back to the Future 2’ and ‘Despicable Me’.
In this episode, I summarise the ways home automation makes it easier to complete day to day activities.
In November 2020, the UK was just about to go into its second national Lockdown, which led to a trend in panic buying again, as well as a Christmas where the number of people you were allowed to celebrate with were number, and a more devastating future for Tourism. But while everyone were still forced to stay inside, online conferences and virtual tours were introduced, to help keep the Tourism industry alive, while also making various venues way more accessible.
In this episode, I sum up 5 technological fixes to attending events throughout the pandemic that could help make venues even more accessible.
No one was expecting the 2020s to start out like they did, after the Coronavirus Pandemic decided to pay us too long of a visit, that saw us all longing to throw it out of society by the end. During this time, every government around the world (apart from Sweden) decided they couldn’t trust the human race with anything, and as such, we were all grounded until further notice, and told we weren’t allowed to meet up with friends.
But during these times, we were in encouraged to meet up with friends via digital means, such as through gaming, through inline video chats, and by streaming the same content as each other into each other’s homes.
In this episode, I outline the ways that streaming services, online gaming platforms and video chat software helped disabled people to self isolate.
The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gaming Headset was released by Turtle Beach back in 2017, and comes with superhuman hearing, a ProSpecs design, as well as virtual surround sound through Windows Sonic.
Now available for between £75-£89.99 through various retailers, it can be bought for cheap enough costs from various retailers, making it a good option for people on a budget.

One of the main problems you have to overcome if you're disabled and want to get into gaming is how to hold a controller, and up to recently, there was no way to work around this.
That was until other devices like Maxess velcro trays and velcro clamps came out, which is what you'll hear a review of in this episode.
The Amazon Echo was the world's first smart speaker, with the first one coming out in 2014. In this episode, you'll hear a review of the 3rd generation Amazon Echo Dot, which was released in 2019.
Technology has changed enormously throughout the years, and everyone is being urged to learn even basic technology, or else they risk being left behind.
In this episode, you get to go on a big trip back through memory lane, which takes you through all the ways technology changed from 2009-2019/20.
Apple Arcade is a gaming subscription service by Apple, which they first announced on the 25th of March 2019. It then launched in September 2019 with 71 games, which Apple instantly planned to expand to 100 games by 2020, before growing it to 180 games in 2021, and growing it even further in 2022.
As of 2023, over 200 games are available in the library, and with a subscription charge of £4.99 per month or £49.99 per year, it can be seen as a cheaper gaming service for less, and it is expected to grow even more throughout 2023.

It can fit into your bag and come with you everywhere, and is built of premium Aluminium, giving it a strong construction.

Apple first released the iPhone X in 2017, as their first phone with Face ID. But what are my thoughts on it?

The Apple TV 4K First Generation was first introduced in 2017, following on from 4 other models, including the first of Apple’s tv boxes which was released 10 years beforehand. The only colour it is available in is black, but Apple does give you slightly more choice when it comes to the Storage Capacity, with a choice between 32GB or 64GB, and it also lets you connect Bluetooth devices to it, including your phone or bluetooth game controllers.
You can currently buy the first generation 4K Apple TV model for between £75-£99, compared to £149 for a wifi version of the current generation or £169 for the Wifi version with Ethernet, and in this episode, I give you a review of the one I have.

The mid 2015 15” MacBook Pro by Apple is the last of Apple’s Retina model macs, and the first to feature a Force Touch Trackpad. The last to include a full array of ports, which include a MagSafe 2 Power Port, 2 Thunderport ports of up to 20GBps, 2 USB 3 ports of up to to 5GBps, an HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an SDXC card slot, it also allows you to connect to Bluetooth keyboards and trackpads.
But with it now being down to £282, with some going for lower, is it still worth buying?

Apple launched their first external Magic Keyboard in 2015, and have released numerous ones since. In this episode, I review the one I have, while answering the question about how accessible it is.
Skullcandy is an American headphone company, founded by Rick Alden in 2003, and which sells wired and wireless earphones and headphones, at somewhat an affordable price. Some of their current headphone brands include Hesh, Riff, Crusher and Cassette headphones, and with a good range of earphone brands and gaming headsets to choose from as well, they are a really good brand!
But it's their Uproar Wireless Headphones that have been discontinued on their website (although you can still get them on Amazon). I bought them in 2019 while I was completing my second year of an HND in Broadcast Journalism. Here's my review of them.
