Your child may look completely fine at school while struggling with symptoms that aren't visible from the outside. Fatigue, pain, medication side effects, brain fog, dizziness, sensory challenges, and fluctuating symptoms can all affect a child's ability to learn and participate—even when they don't "look sick."
In this episode of Medical Moms Anonymous, we're talking about how to communicate invisible symptoms to teachers and school staff, explain the functional impact of your child's condition, document patterns, build a collaborative relationship with the school, and recognize when a conversation may need to become a more formal request for support.
Because your child doesn't have to look sick for their needs to be real.

Hello friends and welcome to Episode 7 of The Stained Glass Podcast. I’m your host, Jessica Spurlock. On today’s episode, I’m excited to have a special guest on the podcast, fellow podcaster Wren Robbins.
If you listened to my infertility story on Episode 6 of The Stained Glass Podcast, you probably recognized several parallels in my story with Wren’s. We both had a set plan for our lives (then God laughed, crumpled it up, tossed it aside, and then did things His way - which is always better). We both struggled with infertility for a few years. It was during the same period of time in two different states of the US. We both had stage 3 endometriosis as a probable cause. We both dealt with the pain in everyday life of encountering babies or baby themed parties or aisles in stores. We both got over it by making the knowledge of the God and digging into His Word the object of our heart’s desire. And even though we both felt alone during that timeframe, the same timeframe, then ten years after this trial in our lives the Lord would orchestrate my introduction to Wren for another purpose and then she would come on my podcast to share her story. By doing this, we can feel a little less alone, a little less broken.
So with this in mind, I would like you to think of a difficult circumstance in your life. One where God may or may not have revealed to you the purpose for that circumstance. If you would like to share that with me, I would love to hear from you. I can read that story on the podcast if you’d like to remain anonymous or, just like Wren, you can even come on The Stained Glass Podcast as a guest if you feel the Lord’s leading. Your story, though it may seem broken, can reveal God’s glory just by sharing it with someone else who needs to hear it. You can message that story to me on social media. You can find me on Instagram @thestainedglasspodcast and on Facebook in The Stained Glass Podcast group.

In the next episode, we’ll do a deeper dive into a topic introduced in the premiere episode for your encouragement. It drops in two weeks. Until then, this has been Jessica Spurlock with The Stained Glass Podcast. Go be a blessing!
Hello friends and welcome to episode 6 of The Stained Glass Podcast. I’m your host, Jessica Spurlock. On today’s episode, I’ll talk about how God revealed the fruits of His spirit through the difficulty of getting pregnant.
We all have a plan for our own lives. I had a mental list of what I wanted to accomplish before I was thirty years old, and the order I wanted to do it. Listen to how the actual events went down. Let’s just say…it didn’t go according to plan! It took much longer and was a difficult journey.
During this time, I decided to look for a devotional for women who are trying to conceive, but came up empty. There were some for infertility, but I didn’t feel I was quite there yet. During the search for this devotional, I could feel God whisper to me, “why not write your own?”. So…even though I’m not really a writer, I followed God’s leading and wrote a devotional. Over the course of that three month period, while waiting for this infertility appointment, I researched, I studied, and I prayed. I really dug deep into God’s word. The name of the devotional was called Redefining TTC. TTC is the acronym for “trying to conceive”. The title, Redefining TTC means transitioning from “trying to conceive” to “trusting totally in Christ” to conceive. In this episode, I share a bit from Redefining TTC and how God used the difficulty getting pregnant to reveal the fruits of His spirit. They may not exactly align with the list given in Galatians, but they are fruits nonetheless (joy, faith, patience, peace, and trust).
I am offering an electronic version of Redefining TTC to my The Stained Glass Podcast audience absolutely free. My email address is thestainedglasspodcast@gmail.com. All you need to do is send me an email and put in the subject line of the email the letters TTC. I will reply back with a PDF copy of the book. And that’s it!
(And don’t worry, sending me an email will not subscribe you to some mailing list that you need to click unsubscribe a million times to stop getting spammed…I won’t do that to you all!)
In the next episode, we are going to keep the infertility discussion going with one of my favorite podcast hosts, Wren Robbins, and how God used that broken piece of Wren’s story to bring Him glory. It drops in two weeks. Until then, this has been Jessica Spurlock with The Stained Glass Podcast. Go be a blessing!
Hello friends and welcome to episode 5 of The Stained Glass Podcast. I’m your host, Jessica Spurlock. On today’s episode, we’ll do a deeper dive into a topic introduced in the premiere episode for your encouragement.
As I stated in the first episode of The Stained Glass Podcast, there are five steps to making stained glass. There is a planning step, a breaking step, an aligning step, a strengthening step, and finally a polishing step. In this episode, we will do a deeper dive into the planning step. In future episodes, we will dive into the remaining steps one by one.
There are two things I want you to do this week if you have been encouraged by today’s episode of The Stained Glass Podcast. The first thing I would like you to do is to share this podcast with at least one friend who needs some encouragement that God has a sovereign plan for their life. And the second thing for you to do is to give me a five-star rating and or a positive review on whatever podcast platform you are listening in. That will help push this ministry out to others and spread the encouragement around even further.
In the next episode, you will hear about how God revealed his spiritual fruits through the pain of infertility. It drops in two weeks. Until then, this has been Jessica Spurlock with The Stained Glass Podcast. Go be a blessing!
Hello friends and welcome to Episode 4 of The Stained Glass Podcast. I’m your host, Jessica Spurlock. On today’s episode, you will hear about how God used a high pressure season of life to teach me there’s no shame in getting help.
At the beginning of 2022, a pressure-building situation was brewing in my life. Job situations, job changes, multiple surgeries for family members, homeschooling, pandemic, finances, etc. The pressure was building.
One year ago, Valentine’s weekend of 2021, my husband and I were on our way out of town for a day out together. As we began driving, I started having severe chest pains and needed to go to the ER for a suspected heart attack. (I had all the symptoms listed below)
If you are listening to me in real-time, today is Valentine’s Day 2023. February is GO RED FOR WOMEN month with the American Heart Association. Chest pain is nothing to mess around with. Even when the signs are subtle, the consequences can be deadly, especially if the person doesn’t get help right away. That’s why so many women die of heart disease, in fact it is the number one killer of women. Don’t be one of them.
If you have any of these signs, call 911 and get to a hospital right away:
For more information, visit the American Heart Association’s website at heart.org or Go Red for Women’s website at goredforwomen.org. I want to encourage my listeners to donate to that cause to support the innovative research, education, and prevention services that protect the women we love. Let’s win this together!
One thing I would like you to do this week is to take a screenshot of you listening to this podcast and share it on your social media pages, tagging The Stained Glass Podcast. You can find me on Instagram @thestainedglasspodcast and on Facebook in The Stained Glass Podcast group.
In the premiere episode of The Stained Glass Podcast, we broke down the steps of making stained glass and applied to how God uses trials in our lives for his glory. In the next episode, I’ll be taking a deeper dive into the first step of God’s plan for our lives. We’ll go deeper into each step in future episodes. I pray this will be an encouragement, a help, and a blessing to you all. It drops in two weeks. Until then, this has been Jessica Spurlock with The Stained Glass Podcast. Go be a blessing!
Hello friends and welcome to Episode 3 of The Stained Glass Podcast. I’m your host, Jessica Spurlock. On today’s episode, I’m excited to have our very first guest on the podcast, my sister, Stephanie Taylor.
Stephanie is a mom, a wife, a Christian, a marketing genius, a musical theater lover and performer, and loves The Little Mermaid’s hair (ha!). Stephanie shared with The Stained Glass Podcast a broken piece of her story - perinatal & postpartum depression. We had a very productive conversation about what her experience was and how God revealed to her that He is always there (omnipresence).
I wanted to briefly touch on one of the key messages from my conversation with Stephanie. That message is that you are not alone. There are people who have been through similar circumstances to you and would be happy to come alongside you and support you during this season of your life. Here are some resources that Stephanie shared during our conversation:
24/7 free & confidential support for people in distress:
Suicide & Crisis Lifeline - call/text 988 or visit 988lifeline.org
Lots of great information here, also:
Postpartum Support International
postpartum.net or call 1 (800) 944-4773 also in Spanish
In addition to these resources... God is always with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He promises us this in his word (Deuteronomy 31:8-9).
I would love to pray for you if you are going through a similar circumstance of feeling alone. You can message your prayer request to me on social media. You can find me on Instagram @thestainedglasspodcast and on Facebook in The Stained Glass Podcast group.
In the next episode, I’ll be telling a personal story of a pressure cooker situation in my life and how God used it to draw attention to a problem area of my health. It’s a special episode with a special message, just for you. It drops in two weeks, which is Valentine’s Day in the US. Until then, this has been Jessica Spurlock with The Stained Glass Podcast. Go be a blessing!
Hello friends! Welcome to Episode 2 of The Stained Glass Podcast. I’m your host, Jessica Spurlock.
On today’s episode, you will hear the first of many personal stories on this podcast. God demonstrated His sovereignty over my life by using a national tragedy (the Virginia Tech mass shooting on April 16, 2007).
One thing I would like you to do this week is to think of a difficult circumstance in your life. One where God may or may not have revealed to you the purpose for that circumstance. If you would like to share that with me, I would love to hear from you. Maybe even have you come on The Stained Glass Podcast as a guest if you feel the Lord’s leading. There’s also the possibility of me reading your story anonymously on the podcast. Your story, though it may seem broken, can reveal God’s glory just by sharing it with someone else who needs to hear it. You can message that story to me on social media. You can find me on Instagram @thestainedglasspodcast and on Facebook in The Stained Glass Podcast group.
The next episode drops in two weeks. Go be a blessing!
Hello friends! Welcome to the world premiere episode of The Stained Glass Podcast. I’m your host, Jessica Spurlock. On today’s episode, we’ll discuss my heart behind this new ministry opportunity and I’ll explain how the title of this podcast relates to my mission.
While this is not a podcast on making stained glass, we’ll go through the process of doing so in this episode and ultimately answer that question. There are six steps to making stained glass:
So why is this podcast titled The Stained Glass Podcast? Because our story is made up of lots of broken pieces. Pieces seemingly without form or purpose. But when you align all those broken pieces with God’s plan, put all those broken pieces together, strengthen them and then step back and bask in the glow of the brilliant story of your life, it will bring honor and glory to God. We will do a deeper dive into each of these steps in future episodes of The Stained Glass Podcast.
In this podcast series, you will hear my personal testimony on how the Lord has used circumstances in my life to mold me and make me into who He wants to be for His glory. I’ll be speaking with others as they share their stories as well. Every once in a while, I’ll do little devotional episodes just to encourage you.
There are two things I want you to do this week. The first is to follow me, on social media and this podcast in whatever app you are listening from. You can find me on Instagram @thestainedglasspodcast and on Facebook in The Stained Glass Podcast group. I will be sharing scriptures that helped me develop this podcast episode to encourage you with all my followers. And the second thing I would like you to do is to share this podcast with at least one friend who needs some encouragement.
Hello friend! Welcome to the trailer for The Stained Glass Podcast. This podcast shows how broken pieces of our story reveal God’s glory. I’m your host, Jessica Spurlock.
Over nine years ago, I had the idea to start a podcast. I had gone through several trials in my life and I wanted to help people in a way that helped me through some of my darkest times. However, the timing was not right. Little did I know, that during these nine years of waiting the Lord was just giving me more content to use through even more trials. The Lord finally gave me the green light to pursue this dream and help others while glorifying Him.
But I’m not doing this podcast for me. While there may be a lot of stories about my personal experiences on The Stained Glass Podcast, it’s really not about me…it’s about God. The ultimate goal of this podcast is to show how our stories, even though they might seem broken to us, can actually be looked at from a different perspective. It is my hope for you, friend, that when you go through hard times, know that you are not alone. Not only is there someone on the other end of this podcast that may have gone through similar struggles as you, but also God will never leave your side either.
In The Stained Glass Podcast, you will hear chapters of my story as well as the stories of others. I will also sprinkle in a few helpful or encouraging episodes throughout to shake things up a bit.
New episodes of The Stained Glass Podcast will be released every other Tuesday. You can find The Stained Glass Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google, and many others.
Follow me on social media and be a part of this community. You can find me on Instagram @thestainedglasspodcast and on Facebook in The Stained Glass Podcast group.
