I'm an open book this week! I've come to terms with the fact that my business isn't bringing me joy anymore and I'm opening up about all my feelings on finally saying goodbye and closing the small business chapter of my life. I miss writing for myself and now I'm allowing more time for that and less for hustle culture.

This podcast isn't going anywhere though don't worry :)

I discuss:

  • The differences between writing for yourself and writing for other people
  • How feeling overwhelmed all the time may be a sign to cut the cord
  • What I'm looking forward to now that I'm not a small business gal anymore

I have nothing to promote! But here's my linktree if you want to connect with me!

It's story time this week! Today I'm detailing my journey with social media and poetry and how my love for writing was crushed by the pressures of engagement, followers and likes on Instagram. I tell you how easy it can be to be swept up into the "game" of gaining more followers and more attention and how this damaged my relationship with writing to the point where I could no longer write anything at all for years.

If there's one thing to take away from this episode, it's to cherish your hobbies. Well, two things actually, that and never join an engagement group!

Some things I discuss:

  • My journey with writing and the interesting way I discovered my love for poetry
  • The dangers of Instagram engagement groups and how to spot when someone is in one
  • Creating many, many Instagram accounts and not realising that I may have a problem
  • The difficulty of coming out of the "I could post this on Instagram" mindset

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of success? Lots of money perhaps? Well, today I want to talk about how having a successful life can mean a whole load of things, not just the zeros in your bank account. This week, I'm giving you a whole new perspective on your life. Self-reflection isn't just about how you can improve and putting a spotlight on all the areas where you're going wrong, it can also be about highlighting the positives and the things you can be most grateful for.

I discuss:

  • All the ways in which you can declare yourself as successful (that doesn't include money)
  • Using a life wheel to determine your feelings on each aspect of your life
  • Making up your own rules for your life that invites the most positivity and joy
  • Being confident in your happiness

Today I'm reminding you that it's okay to take the slow path. You're still going to get to where you want to go.

Everything feels so rushed nowadays, doesn't it? Whatever happened to stopping and smelling the roses? With the rise of hustle culture and same-day Amazon deliveries, life can feel like it's getting a little overwhelming and like we're falling behind, and this could be whether we're trying to get a business off the ground or just trying to live our lives in general.

In this episode, I'm talking about how running my business using social media stressed me out to the point of burnout, twice, and how I now incorporate a slow living approach into my work.

I discuss:

  • How you can take your time in life and still be successful and content
  • Letting your needs take first priority even when it comes to work
  • My small business journey and how I run it today without stress
  • How to use SEO tools instead of social media to market your small business

Let's be honest for a sec. You spent a loooong time on TikTok last night, didn't you? It's okay we've all been there but is there a small part of you that wished you hadn't spent so much time scrolling? Or that you could just delete those colourful social apps for good?

This week I'm bringing you solutions and it can all be neatly wrapped up into a bow called Digital Minimalism. Digital Minimalism is a term popularised by Cal Newport who wrote a book of the same name. I've sat down and given you his main ideas on how we can be more intentional about our screen time and use our technology only when we actually need to.

It's time to put our phones down and start living offline again.

I discuss:

  • The best way to quit social media and other digital distractions
  • Why mastering the art of being alone is integral to living a full life
  • How being on your phone all the time is making you lose connection with yourself

Hello there! Welcome to the first episode of You Are A Garden. I'm so glad you're here.

In this episode, I give you a little intro about me, a talk about how to spend our time more intentionally and how to be more aware of the things we surround ourselves with. Time is one of the most precious things we have, we gotta spend it well, right?

(Also please forgive the mic quality, I need a minute to get used to this!)

I discuss:

  • Who is Candice Daphne?
  • The changes I'm making to feel more present and aware of my surroundings
  • A not-so-subtle plug for my newsletter that includes a FREE self-reflection journalling guide (get yours below!)
  • Recognising my patterns of escaping and procrastination (might have a slight YouTube addiction) and how I'm trying to overcome it
