In this episode I share my leadership decision-making process.

In the course of a day, leaders are tasked with making many decisions that affect the well-being of many people as well as their company.  Some come in emails, some in inquiries, and some in meetings.  Some you have time to consider, for some you will rely on input from others, and others you must make immediately.

I discuss the difference between being a leader who is a "Maximizer" and "Satisfier".

In this episode you will get great tips used by Twinkie to stage your own comeback.

Leaders don't always make the right decisions but, you cannot let it pull you or your team down.   You must bounce back quickly and right the ship.   Same thing if you are going through a career transition.   If you get fired, laid off, or just resigned for whatever reason or circumstance you still must be resilient and make a strong comeback to find that next job or career that will make you happy and sustain the type of life you want to live.

We all make mistakes, but we can still succeed as long as we know how to make a comeback. While snack cakes may not have all the answers to life’s riddles, the humble Twinkie certainly knows how to pick itself up and start over.

You may remember the headlines in 2013 when Twinkies briefly disappeared from the stores after their parent company went bankrupt. Soon, they were back on the shelves in a turnaround billed as “The Sweetest Comeback in the History of Ever.”

You must have the mindset that............"You are about to make the greatest comeback of all time"

This episode is about my personal experience with career transitions.   I coached college basketball for 13 years, 7 at the University of Kentucky and 6 at the University of South Florida.  Also coached 1 year professionally in Japan.

My daughter was a Division I basketball player and she was diagnosed with depression and anxiety when she was in high school.   She signed a scholarship to Liberty University and while there as a freshman her depression and anxiety got worse, and she was at her lowest point.

I had to make the most difficult decision I ever made in my life in 2014 to hang up my coaching hat after a 14-year successful career.  Sometimes in life we have to make sacrifices for the people we love in order to give them opportunities in life.

After leaving my college basketball coaching career I had to decide, "what's next".   It took some time trying different career fields to find my next career passion that would fulfill my need to coach people and help them accomplish their goals.

Hanson Coaching & Consulting LLC was founded in 2019.

The show is about how leaders need to have strong core beliefs and be in tuned with their own senses in order to lead their teams to success.   Core beliefs are a person’s most central ideas about themselves, others, and the world.  Your core beliefs are what you use to make everyday decisions with.  An important skill all leaders need is knowing how to identify your emotional responses.  Part of this is being able to tune into your senses.  What does this mean?

•This means paying attention to what you see and hear and not what you think you see and hear.
