Forspoken: Was it Really as Bad as Critics Said?

So Our Host Sebastion Mauldin has been curious and interested in Forspoken for a long time. As a long-time anime fan, he's enjoyed many isekai anime. Forspoken feels like an isekai game with some infamous-like gameplay. Combining the isekai factor with the fact that the game also has a black protagonist (Which as a black man really speaks to Sebastion) Forspoken had a lot of attractive elements that made it a must play for our host. The game came out to some negative and mixed reviews which made Sebastion want to know if the game is as bad as other critics made it out to be. Well Sebastion has now played and beaten Forspoken and has those answers for you!

Day 1 PaxEast Game Recommendations and The Day One MVP!

In This Episode, Sebastion will go over the best games he played on Day 1 of PaxEast! He is also going to give his Day One MVP!

Here is an Excerpt from Sebastion's article on the ProNerdReport.com: "I had quite the experience on my first day of PaxEast. So for those who don’t know, PaxEast is a gaming convention in Boston Massachusetts. It features a variety of games from the recently released and also upcoming gems to keep your eyes on. You can go around playing the demos for the different games to get a feel for them and hopefully find something to look forward to. As a member of the media, I was invited to try out the games and get an interview with reps from the studio. This was a cool experience both on the networking side and getting to play these wonderful games. Many I had no idea even existed. On the first day, I played some AAA games like Dead Island 2 and The Lord of the Rings Gollum. Neither game blew me away and both gave me the feeling that they would be just OK games. All that said here were is my Day 1 PaxEast Impressions and the day one MVP."

Was 2022 A Good Year for Single Player Gamers Feat. Tega

Episode 45

Was 2022 a good year for single player gamers? To answer this crucial question, content creator and fellow single player game fan, Tego, is on the show to discuss some of this year’s best games from both AAA and indie studios.

As is The Single Player Experience tradition, Tego shares his top video games of all time and Sebastion tests his nerdom knowledge with a lightning round of trivia questions. They then discuss the next wave of gaming, the power gamer voices have (or don’t), and AAA companies being outshadowed by the success of indie studios.

Sebastian and Tego also ask themselves: How does 2022 stack up to past years? Did indie releases carry the year? Why are we giving Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet a pass? What happened with games like Ghostwire: Tokyo that were released and forgotten about?

For all the answers to these questions and more, tune in to this episode!

The Most Disappointing Games of 2022

We want to preface that the most disappointing games do not mean the WORST games of 2022.

The games we will be discussing in this episode are the games that presented themselves as promising entertainment, and ended up being duds.

Games like the highly anticipated Crossfire X that ended up being an unpolished mess, Gotham Knights which had a niche group of raving fans but left most of us unsatiated, and the overhyped Saints Row that ended up being underwhelming and one of the biggest disappointments.

On today’s episode, our host Sebastion Mauldin will be discussing these three games in detail and why they made their way on to his most disappointing games of 2022 list.

Tune in to hear Sebation’s take and decide if these games will still remain in your backlog list.

Soccer Story: A Cute but Flawed Sports RPG

Genre melds are one of our host Sebastion Mauldin’s favorite types of games, so naturally, he had to try Soccer Story!

This RPG sports game felt promising with its fun and refreshing game play and reminiscent art style, but was a disappointment in the end. The unbalanced game play between the melded genres, left something to be desired, along with bloated content and tiresome side quests.

Although there were many disappointing aspects, it was still entertaining enough to keep playing. So if you want to hear our host Sebastion Mauldin’s full review of Soccer Story, you don’t want to miss this episode!

We are getting Catfished by Video Game Companies

We are being played y’all, and it is time we speak up about it!

How many times has it happened that a company has come out with a game that was incomplete and we just accept it like it’s okay. This is the only industry where consumers are okay with purchasing a half finished product. Why is that? We deserve more!

So how do we stop getting catfished by gaming companies? What steps, we as consumers and gamers, should take to stop this madness? There are two ways we can do this and we want to share that with you in today’s episode.

So tune in and hear how we can stop getting catfished by the gaming companies, and get what you pay for!

A Walk With Yiayia: A Stroll Down Memory Lane

If you’re looking for a wholesome and cozy single player experience to take you into the holiday season, look no further. A Walk With Yiayia gives you all the nostalgic and sentimental feels taking you back to your childhood where the simple, mundane, parts of life were the most meaningful.

Although it is simplistic in nature, it has a way of communicating on a larger scale, with the retro style art and color, emotional and memorable stories told in the game, and simple quests within the game to help unravel Yiayia’s story. Fair warning, you will need a box of tissues close by.

This palette cleanser game will allow you to take a break from the racing, combat, high intensity, games that are always around, and allow you to sink into something more grounding.

Marvels Snap: Might Be the Best Mobile Game Ever

We don’t condone peer pressure, but everyone has been talking about this game, so we had to take it for a spin!

Even though mobile games give our host Sebastion Mauldin the ick, he is a sucker for term based strategy games, so he had to try this game, Marvel Snap. Let’s just say, his ass was hooked! So hooked, he almost walked into a parked car while playing. So fair warning to not walk and play this game.

From the use of strategy, collecting energy points, to easy rules with complexity of gameplay, if you are averse to mobile games like Sebastion, this game might change your mind.

Of course there are some downfalls that we will discuss in today’s episode, along with everything else you need to know about Marvel Snap before you add it to your backlog list.

Episode 23

When finding the best single player experience, we find some gems, some fairly decent games, and just outright garbage as well.

We don’t want to be negative here, but we are here to help you decide where to spend your time when playing a single player game and this game is NOT it. You have been fairly warned.

DC League of Super Pets is a terrible game in all aspects, and our host Sebastion Mauldin, wants to let you know why so you don’t waste your time.

This game not only doesn’t even follow the story of the movie, it is repetitive and boring, where it has the ability to bore even a younger audience.

Gotham Knights: Was it Really That Bad

Episode 16

Oh the controversy! The critics versus the public. There has been an ongoing battle on whether this game is a good single player gaming experience.

Critics hate it, while the online gaming community is defending it. So naturally, our host Sebastion Mauldin is inclined to try it out for himself and put the controversy to rest once and for all!

Let’s face it, if you’re a Batman fan like Sebastion is, being in that world is alluring enough to get you to try out the game. That already gives it a leg up. However, the critics have their fair share of points, and so does the public.

The pros and cons list grows for this one, and we want to share it all with you in today’s episode.

As technology improves, why can’t our favorite classic games? However, just because it was remade for newer game consoles, doesn’t necessarily always mean that the remake will translate well. When it does though, it is marvelous!

On today’s episode, our host, Sebastian Mauldin, talks about how he was skeptical about The Last of Us Part 1, but after trying it out, he quickly changed his mind.

The Last of Us Part 1 did a great job of bringing back those nostalgic moments of the music and sounds, where the newer technology allows for a better experience and story. Sebastion takes us through a detailed account of how the remake shattered his initial perception, and sold him on this PS5 exclusive game.

In this episode you will also hear Sebastion answer three major questions about this game: is it worth its $70 price tag, is this the best way to experience The Last of Us, and should The Last of Us be in your video game backlog?

Have you ever dunked a basketball? Our host Sebastion Mauldin can safely say YES to that question. Well, kind of. He was able to live this dream by playing NBA 2K where he dribbled past his opponents and dunked a basketball for the first time in his life. Talk about checking off an item on the bucket list!

All joking aside, Sebastion highly recommends NBA 2K as the best single player experience in sports games. The game accurately represents the modern game of basketball and you can choose your role in the NBA, where it’s not confined to just being on the court.

There is a major downside to this game, and it has to do with your wallet! Although it's pricey, there are ways to focus on a certain aspect of the game that would work for you so you aren’t being charged at every corner and still get an enjoyable experience.

The Must-Try 2022 Game of the Year Contender Episode 9 On today’s episode, our host Sebastion Mauldin will be going over the best game of 2022, Elden Ring. There are even people in the gaming industry calling Elden Ring the game of the decade. This is a big claim, so Sebastion tried it for himself, and boy was he impressed! Even though Sebastion spent over 50 hours playing Elden Ring constantly walking through the same yellow door only to die then finally defeat a boss, he cannot recommend this game enough. Elden Ring is a fantasy action RPG made from Firm Software Studio, the same creators as the Dark Soul Series and Blood Born. Although Elden Ring was born from these popular and classic games, it stands unique on its own from its massive open world to its  rich lore created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and the creator of Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin. Tune in for a thorough and unique perspective on the gameplay and story you won’t want to miss! Is it really THAT bad? Maybe, but why not find out for yourself? Sometimes popular opinion doesn’t capture the opinion of all, so that is why when our host Sebastion Mauldin hears about a crappy game, he is more inclined to try it out. What if it ends up being phenomenal?

Sebastion’s experience with the 2022 Saints Row Reboot single player game was unique compared to many others’. After testing it out himself, Sebastian found himself enjoying the game, regardless of all the terrible reviews he had read prior. However, it DID definitely have many flaws. Big enough flaws to pull him out of the game and dampen the entire single player experience. Even though there were some major flaws, it wasn’t terrible, and kind of enjoyable.Tune in to hear a non-biased review of this reboot with detailed descriptions of all the great and not so great things you will find if you decide to try this game out.

Grid Force: The Underdog 2022 Bullet-Hell RPG

Episode 6

Do not sleep on this game (like Sebastion almost did)! There are always new games being released, so trying every single one can be impossible. Sebastion almost didn’t give Grid Force a chance because, frankly, the trailer wasn’t convincing enough, but after deciding to give it a try anyway, Sebastian rates this game a solid 8 out of 10!From game play, game story, to the cast of characters, this game delivers on every level. This fast paced, high energy, game with strong female characters, coupled with it being highly interactive where you can choose different story lines to change the course of the game, makes for an addicting and unique gaming experience. There are however some downsides to this game, like with any game. Aspects get lost within the game, and some of the execution of elements aren’t very well done. Regardless of some missteps, if you like addicting gameplay and a diverse fun roster of characters, you will love this game!In today’s episode, Sebastion goes over all the great components of Grid Force in detail as well as its downsides to give you a better picture of whether you should choose this game.Tune in to hear Sebastion’s review on Grid Force and his take on why you should play it!
