Some of the most important people in my life have ties to New Orleans whether it's because they were born there or because they lived the bulk of their lives there. With Mardi Gras just ending, we see how many people come down here to party and dance with us, but how many of you would help New Orleans in the time of need? In this series, we are going to talk about the time New Orleans, and the people of Louisiana needed help the most and help came all too late. I'll be talking about what happened before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina. By the end of today's episode you'll be able to answer the question: Was New Orleans doomed from the start? The case Haaland vs Brackeen has been on the floor of the Supreme Court since November 9th 2022. This case is a direct threat to ICWA. Yes, the topic is uncomfy but they don't call it growing pains for no reason! This is a great learning experience. Election day is just a couple of hours away! Voting rights and suppression are really diluted in schools if you ask me, so what better way to answer the question "does voting really matter" than a fear factor? Today we're going to be talking about the Ocoee Massacre which happened on November 2nd 1920. After this episode you can make your own decision on whether or not you believe voting matters . After all, if voting didn't matter, why would they kill behind it?
