The Oakwood at Ryther | Yorkshire WeddingYorkshire Wedding PhotographerHey lovely people! Gather around for a tale of love, laughter, and a day so perfect that we’re still buzzing from the excitement! I’m here to share the incredibly beautiful wedding of Ellena and Ryan, captured right here in charming Yorkshire. If you're into heartwarming moments and gorgeous venues, this is one for you!
The day started at the majestic Selby Cathedral. Seriously, this place is like something out of a fairytale. With its towering architecture and stunning stained glass windows, it set the perfect backdrop for Ellena and Ryan's vows. Arriving early, I caught Ellena and her bridesmaids getting ready, with all the giggles and the occasional nervous flutter. Ellena, glowing in her elegant gown, was the epitome of grace and excitement—her joy truly infectious! Ryan, on the other hand, was the picture of calm, though the sparkle in his eye as Ellena walked down the aisle said it all. Surrounded by loved ones, they exchanged heartfelt vows. And let me just say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
The Celebration:
The Oakwood at Ryther Post-ceremony, the celebrations moved to The Oakwood at Ryther. If you haven't been there, picture a rustic yet sophisticated venue with sweeping views of the Yorkshire countryside. It’s the perfect blend of cozy and chic, making it an ideal spot for an unforgettable party. With the sun gracing us with its late afternoon glow, we took some dreamy outdoor shots. Ellena and Ryan, arm in arm, looked like they walked straight out of a romance novel. The grounds of The Oakwood offered countless stunning backdrops—from lush greenery to charming stone pathways, I had a field day capturing it all! As everyone settled into the evening, the atmosphere was buzzing with warmth and laughter. The speeches, peppered with both wit and heartfelt emotion, were a highlight. Watching Ellena and Ryan laugh, cry, and embrace those moments with their nearest and dearest was such a joy. The evening flowed seamlessly into a feast that you'd write home about. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. And then, the first dance… let’s just say these two have some moves! Their dancefloor debut was nothing short of magical, setting the tone for a night of celebration, dancing, and pure joy.
Capturing Ellena and Ryan's special day was an absolute honor. The love these two share, and the incredible support from their family and friends, was evident in every second. Shelby Cathedral and The Oakwood at Ryther provided the perfect stages for their fairytale, and I’m so thrilled to have been a part of it.
To Ellena and Ryan, thank you for letting me capture your story. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness, love, and beautiful memories! For those planning your own special day, take a leaf out of Ellena and Ryan's book. Choose venues that speak to you, surround yourself with those you love, and above all, savour every moment. See you in the next story! Cheers.

Rudding Park | Yorkshire WeddingYorkshire Wedding PhotographerAs a Yorkshire-based wedding photographer with a penchant for a relaxed, documentary, and editorial style, I often find myself immersed in capturing the beautiful moments of couples' special days.
Recently, I had the honor of documenting Holly and Mark's wedding at the stunning Rudding Park. Rudding Park provided the perfect backdrop for this wonderful occasion, with its picturesque surroundings and elegant architecture setting the stage for a truly magical day.
As I arrived, I was immediately struck by the tranquility and beauty of the venue, offering countless opportunities to capture timeless memories. Holly and Mark's special day was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. It's always a pleasure to witness two people coming together and celebrating their love surrounded by family and friends.
As a photographer, my approach is to blend seamlessly into the background, capturing the candid, unscripted moments that make each wedding unique. Throughout the day, I worked to capture the essence of the wedding in a way that truly reflected the couple's personalities and the joy of the occasion. From the heartfelt ceremony to the joyous reception, every moment was a treasure to photograph.
The relaxed and unobtrusive style of my photography allowed Holly, Mark, and their guests to enjoy the day without feeling overwhelmed by the camera. It was important to me that the couple felt at ease, knowing that I was there to document their story in the most natural and authentic way possible.
Ultimately, the wedding of Holly and Mark at Rudding Park was a day to remember. It was an absolute joy to be able to preserve these precious memories through my relaxed and documentary style of photography. I am truly grateful to have been a part of such a beautiful celebration and to have had the opportunity to capture the love and happiness that filled the air on that magical day.
The Oakwood at Ryther | Yorkshire WeddingYorkshire Wedding PhotographerSophie & James: A Day to Remember at The Oakwood at Ryther
Nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire’s resplendent countryside, amidst rolling fields and whispering woodlands, there’s a place that seems as if it’s been crafted from the very essence of romance – The Oakwood at Ryther. It was here, under the open skies and ensconced within the rustic elegance of the venue, that Sophie and James declared their love for each other, and we at Richard Perry Photography had the immense privilege to capture every fleeting moment, every tender look, and the bountiful joy of their special day. As any Yorkshire wedding photographer will attest, there’s something inherently magical about weddings in this part of the world. Maybe it’s the way the landscape lends itself to love or simply the open-hearted nature of the people. But on this fine day, as the sun played a warm, golden hide and seek with us, Sophie and James’ wedding seemed to personify the very quintessence of Yorkshire charm. We approached this beautiful celebration in our usual relaxed, documentary style. Our philosophy is clear – we're there to observe, to document the moments that will soon become the fodder for anecdotes in years to come. We're there to capture the raw emotions, the spirited conversations, and the quiet, in-between instances that often become the most treasured. Our presence was unobtrusive, our manner was relaxed – just another couple of friendly faces amongst the beloved guests of Sophie and James.
The Oakwood at Ryther provided more than just a backdrop; it was a character in their story – timeless and stoic, as the couple professed their devotion amidst its woodsy embrace. Our approach allowed us to move organically through the crowd, encapsulating the shared smiles, the subtle glances, and the union of families. The editorial vein of our style comes into play as we also find those angles that flatter, that elevate the everyday to the exquisite, enshrined within frames that belong both in a family album and a glossy magazine. The revelries unfolded with the majestic ease of seasons changing.
What a privilege it was, to be part of such an incredible day, to document its authenticity and to capture moments that will forever speak of the beauty that was Sophie and James' wedding day at The Oakwood at Ryther.
Falcon Manor | Yorkshire WeddingYorkshire Wedding PhotographerSarah and Tom's Dreamy Nuptials at Falcon Manor: A Page Straight Out of a Yorkshire Fairytale
Nestled in the heart of Yorkshire's rolling dales and picturesque vistas, Falcon Manor stands as a beacon of romance and elegance—a place where fairytales come to life against a backdrop of historic charm and contemporary flair. It was within these enchanting walls and verdant grounds that Sarah and Tom chose to exchange their vows, weaving their own love story into the tapestry of this grand destination. At Richard Perry Photography, we were privileged to capture the essence and emotion of such a magical day. And let me tell you, every moment was a scene plucked straight from a storybook. As a Yorkshire-based wedding photographer, there is always something intrinsically delightful about capturing love in its purest form—especially in a locale as breathtaking as Falcon Manor.
Our approach on Sarah and Tom's special day was no different from our usual relaxed, documentary style. We believe in the beauty of moments as they unfold, the genuine laughter, the silent tears of joy, and the tiny glances that speak volumes. That's the heart of our editorial narrative.
Throughout the day, our presence was felt only in the subtle capturing of laughter, the soft click as glasses clinked in celebration, and the countless candid moments where Sarah and Tom's love narrated itself in a language beyond words. The festivities unfolded with a grace that only a Yorkshire wedding could exude.
The couple took some time to step out into the dales with us. Here's where our editorial flair comes into play, bridging the gap between relaxed documentary-style and the beautiful staging of love. The couple, against the stunning Yorkshire landscape, encapsulated perfection—an image worthy of gracing any magazine cover.
To the couples who wish to remember the unrepeatable moments of their day—your fairytale awaits, and through our lens, we're ready to tell it with the relaxed, documentary, and editorial artistry that is our signature. Till the next chapter, Richard Perry Photography – Capturing love stories across Yorkshire and beyond.

Candid, Reportage or Documentary Wedding Photography...Different names for capturing spontaneous moments.A wedding day is full of wonderful moments. If you can capture these then you'll secure your memories forever.
I really enjoy photographing the more editorial and styled wedding photos, which is why I do build in a little time into my weddings to do this. However, the vast majority of the wedding day for me is spent documenting the day as it unfolds. Doing this allows me to capture those candid moments that help tell the story of the big day. Capturing the laughter as the bestman playfully lays into the groom, the look on the face of the Father of the Bride as he sees his little girl in her wedding dress for the first time, or the groom biting back the tears when he talks about is wife. These are memories to be treasured and I feel honoured to be the one who captures these for my couples.

Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2017Destination Wedding Photographer
Last week Louise and I were lucky enough to be invited to the Barcelona Bridal Fashion week by Demetrios. It was an amazing event where all the big names in the bridal gown industry are gathered together to show off their latest creations. The artistry and creativity on display was truly inspiring.
The highlight of the weekend for me was the Demetrios catwalk show to which I was lucky enough to have access. I took this opportunity to photograph the Demetrios and Platinum collection as they were beautifully modelled on the runway. The gowns are spectacular and I truly cannot wait until I get to photograph them on the wedding day of a real bride.
I'd like to say a huge thank you to Demetrios for their very kind invitation and allowing me the opportunity to photograph their wonderful collections.

Destination Wedding PhotographerVeronika and Gary's Austrian Wedding Part TwoI can't tell you how much I have been looking forward to sharing the second part of Veronika and Gary's wonderful wedding. The conclusion of their two day Austrian Wedding Adventure. We are back at the beautiful Obermayerhofen Castle in the Styrian Spa Region of Austria. The perfect setting for a truly elegant and relaxed traditional wedding ceremony.
Veronika spent a relaxed morning being pampered in preparation for her big day surrounded by her Mum, Sister and friends. Roxy Farrier was on hand to fashion a truly beautiful bride hair style. The bridal preparations took place with the stunning Caroline Castigliano gown hanging in pride of place.
The traditional church ceremony took place in Obermayerhofen's Baroque Chapel. Surrounded by loving looks and waves of emotion the couple said their vows and exchanged their wedding rings. Veronika and Gary walked down the isle and stepped out into the sunshine as Husband and Wife.
The evening was filled with beautiful food, lovely and heartfelt speeches and joyful dancing. The night was concluded with an Austrian tradition of the ladies kidnaping the bride who then hid in the wine cellar awaiting rescue by her new husband.
This two day wedding was truly wonderful and I feel honoured to have been the one to have captured this lovely couples memories.

Destination Wedding PhotographerVeronika and Gary's Austrian Wedding - Part 1In September this year I had the honour of capturing the wedding of Veronika and Gary. This wonderful occasion celebrated the coming together of two cultures, Gary's English heritage and Veronika's Austrian roots. With this in mind the wedding covered two days. The first day consisted of a ceremony that celebrated the Austrian traditions and the second day featured a traditional church service.
The setting for this beautiful wedding was the stunning Obermayerhofen Castle set in the picturesque Styrian Spa Region of Austria.
Veronika wore traditional Austrian dress and Gary had had a tailored jacket made that took the Austrian style and gave it a contemporary twist. As the sun began to set they took their place and walked down the isle together. Surrounded by their friends and family this lovely couple said their vows and sealed it with a kiss.
The celebrations continued into the night at the Gaisrieglhof farm house set within the grounds of the Obermayerhofen Castle.
It was a beautiful day full of love, merriment and laughter... and the wedding celebrations were only just getting started. Part two of this amazing wedding will feature on this blog soon.

I got married in November 2014. It was an amazing day that we and all of our guests thoroughly enjoyed. Now, I had realised I had been putting on weight for a few years and by the time of the wedding I was nearing the heaviest I have ever been. I had realised and made plans to lose the weight in plenty of time to be fit and trim by the wedding day. However, one excuse led to another and before I knew it I was out of time.
Definitely punching above my weight.
I have since got my backside into gear and lost nearly 3 stone and got all together much healthier. I am incredibly happy with the results and it only took six months. However, after receiving our wedding photos I really do regret not making the effort before our wedding. I do love our wedding photos but because I didn't get in the gym and alter my diet before our wedding I will always be a chubby groom.
This is me in August 2015
This is me in February 2016
If you are getting married and feel that you would like to be a little trimmer for the big day, don't make excuses like I did... Trust me, you'll look better, feel better, live longer and you'll enjoy looking at your wedding photos much more as well.
If you are in the Leeds area I would highly recommend Patrick Hargrave Personal Trainer at Core Fitness. He honestly changed my life! www.yourpersonaltrainerleeds.co.uk
