Here to try to make some sense of my life as I approach my 40s.I have stories, experiences and so much life lessons for the past 39 years that I've been trying to live up.I may not be an expert but I think that's long enough for me to learn how to get things right, this time. Join me as we explore feelings, mindset changes and other realizations on being almost 40!
I'm about to leave for my birthday trip and I just decided to record this last episode spontaneoulsy. I guess that's how my life is lately. lol I really need to get myself together next time. lol. This is mostly brain farts here and there on some of my thoughts during my birthday season. I can't belive this is really it!! I'm 40! hahaha
It's a biter sweet season for me really. But I've finally made peace with the thought that it's not true that nobody cares coz I still have me. lol shuttttttup drama queen.
But serioulsy though, usually i would cringe with the thought of me venting these out. ( i still kindof do ) But I'm giving myself a pass to just let it all out and like i told my other friends I'm not gonna let my thoughts be burried with me to my grave. lol
So yeah --- thank you for your support on this passion project of mine.
I promise to be more consistendt and be MORE OPEN. Next time. I know some 'marites' would love to know about some of the things I'd normally keep to myself.
So imma treat you guys to some juicy details. lollll I might have mentioned it here a little bit. Still thinking about if ill share it but who knows, so just look out for that if you're interested. Anyways... thank you guys.. Let's hang out again when I get back, i'll be 40 by then! awwww! grateful for all of you ♡♡♡♡♡
In my usual everyday discussions, I tend to downplay myself to peers, loved ones, and colleagues to appear humble. It may sound harmless but it has become a common thing for me to belittle my accomplishments and positive attributes as to not to appear conceited like it's the best and most appropriate thing to do.
I am sure I am not the only one who's done this.
I've always wanted to talk about self deprecation because I want to understand why we tend to do it carelessly and how it actually affects our overall wellbeing.
On this episode I talked about my journey and learnings in finding a balance between the humility we crave, and the self-confidence we deserve because this is very crucial in our dealings with others and ourselves.
Growing older feels like a gift. It's a celebration of what has been and what’s to come.
I am grateful that each year I'm still given the chance to live, be with my family, enjoy and understand life, gain more wisdom and step more fully into our real power.
Today I want to look back on how each decade has been for me and what it has taught me. We're all a product of our past experiences and journey and it's good to be in touch with those experiences that shaped us that made us who we are today. Good or bad, what's important is we learned.
It's healthy to laugh at the idea of getting older. After all, it will happpen whether we like it or not.
And just because you’re a little more mature doesn’t mean you have to take everything seriously.
Yeah it can be a bit scary thinking about the end game, but inevitably or if you're lucky enough you too will get there. Besides isn't that the goal? To have a long happy life. So if you're not happy yet. You still have time to make it right.
Just don't take some of these seriously, although a lot of these are so damn real, they are actually pretty funny too if you think about it. This is just a compilation of some of the incidents or situations I encoutered that actually made me say, "damn, I AM OLD!"
I hope not to be called resilient again.
Our capacity to adapt to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional and behavioral flexibility should only allow us to bend but not to a point of breaking. Let's be kind not just to ourselves but also to other people who's only way to survive is to be resilient. There are other ways to survive and it's ok to be defeated and knocked down once in a while, what matters is how we pick ourselves back up.
A lot of feels in this episode i tell you.
As much as we would like to live our lives to the fullest, our life experiences are sometimes bounded by fear. A little bit of fear is normal. In fact, fear helps us protect outrselves from harm. Fears can also help us recognize when we're about to do something dangerous or something that's not right and it could help us make safer choices.
But sometimes, not all the things we fear of are bad for us or are actually dangerous or has negative effects in our lives. And since we are bounded by past experiences we tend to bring this to our future so we live in fear of the future, something that does not exist yet or does not exist anymore. Other than my fears i also mentioned here some of my weaknesses that's keeping me from living my best life. Let's talk about that and learn what are the other negative effects if we only dwell on our fears and not manage our weaknesses.
I want to talk about some overwhelming and sometimes unexplainable feelings, thoughts that some people may not be comfortable talking about.
But all I want to say here is that BIG GIANT FEELINGS are real and whatever casued it, something major or petty, it doesn't matter, you feel what you feel and that matters a lot.
Know that it's a valid feeling and you don't have to justify it, and you're not crazy for feeling it even if you can't explain it and that there is a solution, a sensible solution than just giving up. 😉
Just a few days ago we lost a family member and it's always very tragic to go through loss and the realization of losing someone forever. But it's a reality we have to face.
Although I've always wanted to talk about death, I know it's never an easy subject for most.
But as we get hit by this reality there are things I can't help but think of and I would like to get real about this and share some thoughts about my biggest fear.
It's not always easy to be confident about yourself, specially if you're naturally self-critical like me or if other people just keep putting you down. But i'ts good that there are ways to help us increase and maintain our self-confidence. It's not a easy thing to do specially a this age where our confidence declines over time. We don't want this to keep us from living our best life.
So I wan't to talk about self confidence and share my thoughts and own experiences in this episode and explore together how to start believing in ourselves again, and how to project this belief to others, so that we can be more fulfilled and happier in our lives.
What are your regrets? How are you handling them?
Join me as we identify the 4 major types of regrets as I also share some of my own personal regrets and how to overcome and learn from it.
In this episode i'd like to share why I have a bad impression on certain religion as a kid. I wanted to point out how crucial proper introduction of religion is, specially to young people. Some adults take for granted that young people have preferences in religion too, just because they are kids.
We do not just impose something to anyone, specially something as personal as faith, more so without explaining things to them and atleast asking for their opinion or feelings towards certain beliefs.
Even if they are only exposed to one religion, to that religion that they grew up with, if they do not feel comfortable with certain practices, it is IMPORTANT that adults address this, educate and guide them as they discover their own faith.
Here's a last minute episode to give way to Father's Day.
( this was supposed to be the Bucketlist episode as I metioned last week )
I hope you guys can appreciate the rawness and some mood shifts it's going to give out. ;-)
Anyway, Happy Father's Day everyone! ♥
For this episode I want to talk about the bucket list I created when I hit 39.
This is all about the list of things I always wanted to do before I turn 40.
( timebound and realistic, but that's just me)
This list pushed me to do a lot of things I never thought id still do or be enjoying at this stage of my life. But it's the best decision my lazy ass self did a few months back.
I'm not gonna tell you how to make one, but I want to share some realizations I had while I was making one and while im ticking it all off. Hopefully you can consider making one for yourself too!
