Do you consider yourself an introvert? Do you find Instagram an overwhelming platform and maybe even avoid it like the plague? If that's you, then you are going to love this episode because I have my friend Brittany Verlenich on the podcast to talk all about how to use Instagram as an introvert.

As an online business owner, do you ever feel like you're living two lives: your business life and your personal life? Whether you're a course creator, podcaster, TPT seller, or service provider, I bet there are people in your personal life who don't quite understand what you actually do.
Which is why I'm so excited for you to hear today's episode. Now, it's a little different than our typical episodes, but about a year and a half ago, some networking friends and I started a book club. Not only has it gotten me into the habit of prioritizing reading again, but it's turned into so much more than just a monthly book club. It has created incredible friendships between all of us women who are also online business owners.
Back in May, we met up in person for a weekend retreat, and one of the things we did was record a podcast episode roundtable style. (And a quick disclaimer about the audio quality: it's not perfect. It's not terrible, but we had one mic for all of us and recorded it on one track. Some voices might be quieter than others, but hopefully, it's not too distracting.)
You'll hear us talk about what each of us does in the online space, how people in our lives responded to us starting our businesses, what our work schedules are, how we balance it with our children, and how having a network of like-minded women has been a real game changer. I hope you feel a connection with a lot of what we discuss and feel inspired to find your own group of people who just get it.
And guess what?! Now YOU get to be a part of our book club too! We'll be expanding this club to other female entrepreneurs who are looking for community. Join the waitlist here.

Have you ever thought about airing more than one podcast episode per week?
Questions about podcast episode frequency often pop up both at the very beginning of people's podcast journeys & also after a few months into it. It's something that I've wanted to address for a while on the podcast but haven't yet - so here we are!
Now that I've had several clients who have done 2 episodes per week (and have even done it myself!), today's episode is all about sharing some of my insights on podcast episode frequency and the pros and cons to weigh so you can make the best decision for yourself. I'm also sharing what to consider before upping your episode frequency, my best advice if you want to move forward, and bringing an experimental mindset to it all.
And if you want to focus on creating better quality content that is more aligned with your business goals vs. just creating MORE content, then check out my audio course, Podcast Like You Mean It.

Do you find yourself constantly saying, "I wish I had more hours in the day?" Do you have a hard time pulling yourself away from your work? If you're saying yes, I hear you (because same).
Now, that's not to say that we don't love what we do as entrepreneurs, but it's really important to remember that there's more to life than working. So how do we give ourselves more white space in our days and feel like we have the hours we need to get everything done?
Today I have Maddy Fry on the podcast to talk all about creating a sustainable work-from-home schedule. Maddy shares how she changed her work schedule to work less, get her weekends back, and how you, too, can create your own dream schedule. We also chat about setting boundaries, being less distracted by our phones, and getting an outside perspective on your business (or whatever you're struggling with).
This is the perfect conversation to have (and hear) as we head into summer, which for me is the season of being extra intentional about my time so I can enjoy the warm weather with my family. And I hope you're planning to do the same!

AI has been around for a long time in all different kinds of forms. But it has gotten a LOT more popular this year. Are you thinking about taking the summer off from your podcast? You might want to reconsider.
In the world of podcasting for educators, downloads typically increase in the summer. Because if you're talking to teachers or other types of educators, they hopefully have some time off during the summer and therefore have more mental capacity to consume things.
However, a quick disclaimer: Not all podcasts in the education space see a summer download increase. But if you look at your data and determine that your show falls into this camp, this episode is for you.
Because no matter how hard they try to fight it when they should be resting, teachers are probably still thinking about the upcoming school year in some way. How can they plan more efficiently? How can they improve their classroom management? How can they improve their relationships with coworkers, parents, or admin?
Today, I wanted to help answer your questions about leveraging this increased attention and what you should do with your podcast during the summer. I'm sharing some ideas on what kind of content you could release this summer, how to connect with your listeners, and things to consider when promoting your podcast during the summer.
And even if you've decided to take a step back or a break from your show this summer, listen to these ideas and let them sink in for next summer!

Are you taking full advantage of all the ways you can repurpose your podcast episodes on social media? Maybe it's a yes, but for lots of us, it's a no (myself included).

Kassaundra shares what repurposing actually is and why it's so important to repurpose your podcast content on social media. How much should we give away for free on our podcasts?
As educators, it can be really challenging to fight that instinct to teach when trying to drive our listeners to our paid offers. Because whether it's a course, membership, TPT store, etc., we need to draw the line between what information we share for free in our episodes versus what we charge for.
I have my friend Christina, a Marketing and Sales Funnel Consultant, on the podcast today to talk all about how to navigate this. She shares the difference between giving the what and the how versus the why of your expertise, how giving away too much could actually be hurting your audience, and things to consider about your marketing and sales funnels. We also talk a bit about TPT bundles, which is a great thing to lean into if you promote a lot of TPT products in your episodes.
I think this episode will challenge you to think about how you might want to tweak the content you're creating for your podcast. I'm so excited for you to meet Christina and hear her advice on this!

Do you remember why you started your podcast?
We all start our shows for different reasons, and sometimes, it doesn't go as planned. Maybe it takes longer than expected to build that momentum, or maybe you've struggled to keep up with episodes more than you thought you would. But sometimes, it helps us grow our business in ways that we didn't anticipate.
Lauren Fulton, the host of The Rebranded Teacher podcast, is on the show today to share her experience with podcasting. She shares how it's opened new doors for her in her business and how she decided that it was something she wanted to stick with long term.
We also talk about the upcoming Teacher Seller's Summit she's co-hosting July 6th through 9th. I am one of the presenters at this summit, and I'm so excited; the lineup of speakers is absolutely amazing. Early bird registration is open NOW! You can grab your ticket HERE!

Do you have a content pillar strategy for your podcast?
Whether you're like me and didn't think content pillars were as essential as the experts say or have never even heard of them, today's short and sweet episode is for you. Because today, we're talking about why having content pillars is so important for your podcast.
As a podcast creator, it can be challenging to constantly come up with new and exciting content for your audience. And I know that's a fear for a lot of people who haven't started their show yet, that you're not going to have enough to talk about.
This is where content pillars are really going to come in handy. They provide a framework for your podcast content and help you stay on track with your overall message and goals.
So by the end of this episode, I hope you'll see the importance of having a content pillar strategy for your podcast and will take a few minutes to sit down and map out yours (if you haven't already).

If you've ever thought about creating an online course, there's no better time than now.
Because "How do I monetize my podcast?" is one of the most commonly asked questions I get. And aside from getting official sponsors for your show, one of the best ways to monetize your podcast is to drive your listeners to your offers, like TPT products, a monthly membership, or an online course.
So today, we're kicking off a new series diving into monetizing your show through your offers. And this episode is all about online courses. To talk all about this, I have on Michelle from Digiteach,a former ESL teacher who now helps educators in business make more while teaching less by launching courses and group programs online.
As you'll hear in the episode, creating an online course is not all rainbows and butterflies, it takes a lot of experimentation. But once you get it figured out, it's so worth it. Tune in to hear us chat about what it takes to sell courses and group programs online, who they're a good fit for (and who they're not), Michelle's 5 steps to launching your online course (and a recommended timeline), and so much more.
So if you're looking for a way to monetize your podcast and create additional revenue streams in your business, then I think you'll love this episode and the ones to follow. So let's go ahead and get started!

Podcasting is not only an amazing way to get your message out to a wider audience but also a great way to generate income. (And if making money is your goal, shout it loud and proud!)
But to make your podcast an income driver for your business, you need to be strategic and identify the gaps in your current process so that you can understand why your podcast might not be working for you the way you want it to. And that's what we're going to get into today, the 7 potential gaps you may have in your podcast right now preventing you from making a profit.
So if you feel like your podcast isn't really making an impact on your business and you're not quite sure what's going wrong, then this more reflective episode will be really helpful for you. I'm walking you through these 7 gaps and sharing questions that I want you to ask yourself to determine if it's a gap you need to focus on closing. (And no, you don't need to take notes, but do take some time to think about each of these questions!)

Have you ever thought about co-hosting a podcast? It can definitely make the experience of creating a podcast even more fun (and a little less lonely). But how does that even work? What does the recording setup look like? How do you structure the show? Or split the episode planning?
Today I have two guests on the show to help answer these questions and share their experiences as podcast co-hosts. Not only are Heidi and Emily co-hosts of the Teacher Approved podcast, but they're also the founders of Second Story Window. Oh yeah, and they're sisters! Heidi and Emily are also clients of mine, and it's been so much fun to be a part of their podcasting journey.
In this episode, Heidi and Emily share what it's like to co-host a podcast, what made them want to co-host versus doing solo shows, why they even decided to start one in the first place, and some challenges they've faced along the way. They also give us insight into their planning process and how they prepare for their recordings.
This was such a fun conversation, and I cannot wait for you to hear all about co-hosting a podcast with Heidi and Emily.

Have you heard of private podcasting? There are so many ways to use private podcasting to maximize your content...from making an online course or membership more accessible for your audience to increasing the amount of content that your audience actually consumes and more!
Dr. Lindsay Padilla is an ex-community college professor who accidentally started a business while on the tenure track. Now, as the CEO and co-founder of the Hello Audio software, which takes your content and creates private audio feeds to make learning on the go much easier for your people, Lindsay challenges online industry norms of unfinished courses and unconsumed content with her product. All of her business ideas were born out of her tenure-track years teaching adults online at a community college, the ridiculous amount of learning she's done in all things education, and the years spent growing her course creation business online.
In today's episode, Lindsay shares how easy it is for anyone to use Hello Audio software to create private podcasts using content that's already been created. You don't even have to be a podcaster to create a private podcast!

Calling all podcasters, teachers, spouses, and parents! Your health goes way beyond working; it's your habits, your mental well-being, and even how you talk about your health (and how it rubs off on your children).
And if you, like many, feel like you're often juggling a lot all at once, then today's episode is the perfect conversation to help set yourself up for physical and mental health success. I have Andrea Mishio on the show today, and we are talking all things health and taking care of ourselves. Andrea shares her story of finding holistic wellness, creating a wellness routine that works for you and your schedule, plus the importance of accountability and community.
So if you're feeling burnt out (or close to it) and just not as physically or mentally healthy as you'd like, I really hope this episode gives you the gentle push you need to start taking steps to take care of yourself from the inside out.

How do you set goals for your podcast? As we enter into 2022, it's important to reflect on the year you've had with your show and use that information to help set goals for the new year. There are several stats you can use to reflect on your show so you can be confident you are setting goals that will have a big impact.
In this episode, I share which numbers you should be looking at to get the best information. While it's important to learn to use the stats to collect information, it's just as important not to obsess about the numbers. I'll also share additional ways to measure the success of your podcast. You'll leave this episode with a clear idea of how to use stats and other information to make goals for your podcast in the new year.

Are you in danger of podfade? It's pretty common, and it happens when a podcast just fades away. One of the main reasons podfade happens is that podcasters don't have systems in place to make their podcasting as simple as possible so they can consistently create content that connects with their audience.
Does this sound like you: You're doing everything by yourself and your podcast is getting pushed to the side. You aren't intentionally planning ahead, and you're scrambling from week to week to get episodes out. You don't have systems in place to keep yourself organized and streamline your tasks.
From planning to producing to promoting your podcast, you'll leave this episode with actionable steps you can take to create a simple podcasting workflow that works for you, so you can continue connecting with your audience and stay out of the podcast graveyard.

We need to have a little talk about podcast downloads. Though they alone are not an indicator of your show's success, your podcast downloads do matter. Because, of course, we want to see them grow over time. If you tuned into last week's episode with Sara Marye, we went through every step of her podcast growth over the last 100 episodes of her show, and the time it took to hit 100k downloads. (And if you haven't listened yet, do that now! I'll wait. It's a REALLY good one with lots of behind-the-scenes info.) While you can't (and shouldn't) compare your downloads to anyone's but your own, this got me thinking that I wanted to do an episode today about podcast downloads - what we should consider and some benchmarks to create goals for ourselves. Are you treating your podcast AS your business? Because in order to see growth, that's exactly what you need to do. And that's what Sara Marye, host of the Stellar Teacher Podcast and a longtime client of mine, has done. Quick question, why did you start your podcast? If you're reading this, then I can bet that you want your podcast to be a tool that drives more people to your products or services. But what do you do if you're seeing growth with your downloads but not necessarily seeing results? I get it; it can be really difficult to get a good grasp on the ROI you're getting from your show. Especially because it isn't always a straight line from listener to buyer (or email subscriber, Instagram follower, whatever you're aiming for). So today, we're going to talk about some reasons WHY your podcast listeners aren't converting and what you can do about it so you can better serve your listeners and your business. What does it take to be a podcaster? It requires you to learn the tech skills to do things like record, edit, and publish. It takes intentional planning and preparation to craft quality episodes. It also takes determination and mind management. As a busy educator, I know how much time and care goes into continuing your podcast week after week. There are days when it feels like so much fun, and when you can see the impact it’s having on your audience and your business. But then there are times when you feel like you can’t keep up, that it’s not growing fast enough, or that it’s just a waste of time. Chrissy Nichols is on the show today to share exactly what mind management is, why you should be okay with B minus work, and how these two concepts could be the key to decreasing stress and negative self talk. Thinking about starting a podcast but worried there's too much competition out there? Think again! While there are a TON of existing podcasts, there aren't as many active ones as you think. And when you do your research and find your niche? That's where the magical podcast gap is. In today's super fun episode, I chat with STEM teacher (and Prep School student) Naomi Meredith about how she found her gap and started The Elementary STEM Coach, a podcast for STEM teachers. She's here to tell us all about how things are going for her and the success she's seen so far (and she only launched in July!). We also chat about how she's kept the momentum going with her show, incorporating her YouTube channel into her podcast, hiring a podcast manager, balancing podcasting with being in the classroom, and more. I'm so excited to share this episode with Naomi with you because it felt like talking to a friend I've known for years (and we'd never talked face to face before!). Ready to meet Naomi? Back-to-school season is HERE! This time of year can be really exciting, but it can also be incredibly draining. And I know a lot of you are right in the thick of all the chaos and exhaustion that comes with this season. And if your podcast and audience are in the education space, you may be seeing some less-than-ideal changes to your podcast downloads. But don't freak out! In this short and sweet episode, I'm sharing what I've seen (on average) for podcasts in the education niche, the possible reasons behind your temporary drop in downloads, and what you can do instead of freaking out about your stats this back-to-school season. (And if you're the opposite and seeing growth for your podcast right now, congratulations! This episode is still for you.) Why did you decide to start your podcast? For Rachel Lenhart, one of the driving factors was because she saw how much support teachers need in our current state of education. I connected with Rachel a couple of months ago when she joined my online course, the Podcasting for Educators Prep-School. Rachel is the perfect example of someone who took action, and dove into the content and implemented what I teach. As a result, she just recently relaunched the Chalk Full of Life Podcast. You’ll hear Rachel’s experience with podcasting, how she overcame imposter syndrome, and her best advice for anyone who is considering starting a podcast. Rachel is a 4th grade teacher getting ready to start her 20th year in the classroom. She’s overcome burnout twice and became a certified life coach to help teachers not make the same mistakes she made. Her mission with Chalk Full of Life is to help teachers life their best life both in and out of the classroom. She lives in southern PA with her husband, 2 boys, and their dog and cat. Is it time for you to outsource some (or all) of your podcast tasks? Some people outsource their podcast right from the beginning, while others might wait until they have a more established show. One thing is for sure - outsourcing any piece of your business can feel a little bit scary if you've never done it before. But it's also so worth it if you can find the right person. When it comes to podcasting, there's lots of options that you have for outsourcing, from the experience level of who you hire, to what specific tasks they take over for you. We are covering this topic in today's episode, and I brought on Lauren Wrighton to join in on the conversation! Lauren Wrighton is a podcast strategist who has helped female business owners launch their chart-topping shows since 2017. In addition to helping podcasters grow their shows, Lauren uses her expertise to help freelancers become profitable podcast managers through her course, The Podcast Manager Program. You can hang out with Lauren each week on her podcast, The Podcast Manager Show. Aside from Podcasting, Lauren loves being a wife to her husband David and mom to her daughters. So you definitely need to do that first because that is going to come into play for this episode! It probably comes as no surprise that I think educators make the best podcasters. As a former elementary school teacher who works with educational podcasters, I talk to a lot of people who want to start a podcast but they don’t do it because they’re hung up on the content planning. My recommendation? Use the skills you already have as a teacher when it comes to planning content for your audience. In today’s episode, I’ll show you how planning your podcast content is just like lesson planning. I’ll give you a simple structure you can follow. By the end of this episode, you’ll see how easy it can really be to plan your episode content. If you’ve been wanting to start your own show for a while, I have just the thing for you. Is your Instagram following small? Is your email list non-existent? Do you have a podcast but worry that nobody is listening? This episode is for you! It is absolutely possible to have a successful podcast, even if you don’t have a huge audience already in place. In fact, that’s how I started my podcast 6 months ago, and it has already grown 4X! It’s easy to feel inadequate when you see people on Instagram with thousands and thousands of followers. You may find yourself wondering how big your audience needs to be before you can launch a podcast, offer an online course, or open up a TpT store. Think quality over quantity. It’s better to have 500 engaged Instagram followers or 100 downloads a month from engaged podcast listeners than a huge number of people who are following you but not interacting or engaging. In this episode, I’m sharing what I’ve learned from my experience starting a podcast 6 months ago with zero following and what I did to grow my show and my following at the same time. I am sharing my keys to success because I believe this is absolutely possible for you, too. My podcast has 100% helped my business, and I have definitely seen the ROI in having my show in these past 6 months. How do you feel about selling? Does it make you cringe just thinking about it or are you totally comfortable with it? One of the main reasons you even started your podcasting journey is because you want to help people and build relationships with your audience. But it’s also totally okay to acknowledge that you’d like your podcast to make you some money. In episode 28, we talked about 3 ways to monetize your podcast, including creating a paid community, getting paid sponsors, and my favorite option, being your own sponsor. If you have a business, that means you have products, resources, online courses, memberships, or services that already exist, so I want you to view your podcast as a way to drive people to those paid offerings. In today’s episode, we will talk about how to sell your offerings on your podcast in a way that feels good to you. There are a lot of strong opinions about the best way to sell on both sides of the spectrum, from keeping your offerings a secret to selling 24/7. But there is a middle ground between these two opinions, and it is possible to promote your offerings on your show in a way that feels natural and gives your audience an opportunity to buy the products that they need. Just because you talk about your offerings on social media or share them with the people on your email list doesn’t mean the people who are listening to your show have seen your promotions. People need to hear about an offering 7-14 times before they take action and make a purchase. Your podcast is the perfect place to promote your offerings to your audience. How do you monetize your podcast? I recently sent out a survey to my audience, and this was one of the most common questions I received. Even if you don’t have a huge audience, it is possible to monetize your podcast. In today’s episode, I’ll give you 3 options for monetizing your podcast and help you determine which options will work best for you. From using paid subscriptions, to getting sponsors and being an affiliate, to being your own sponsor, this episode will give you a general overview of how these options work and what’s involved in each one. Monetizing your podcast is a great way to leverage your time and maximize the content you’re already creating. You’ve heard of SEO, but did you know that podcast SEO is a totally separate thing? And it can definitely impact how many people you’re reaching with your show. When it comes to podcasting, I have two big pet peeves. One of them is the inconsistencies between listening platforms, and the second is the mystery and lack of searchability within the podcast apps, like Apple and Spotify. There is a lot confusion in the podcasting world around what is and isn't searchable within podcast listening apps, and each one is a little bit different. In today’s episode, we're diving into that second pet peeve of mine to unravel the mystery of podcast SEO. We'll cover quick tips, strategies, and podcast industry updates so that you can be on top of your podcasting game, reach more listeners, and gain some new customers along the way. Are you giving away too much for free? You may worry that you’re giving away too much value in your podcast or in other parts of your business, like Instagram or blog posts. In today’s episode, I’m sharing my opinion on this topic. Your thoughts are valid and can be rooted in the fear that someone will copy your free work or that your audience will always expect free content from you and will never support you by paying for your resources. Providing valuable, free content is good and necessary to build trust with your audience. You may wonder why your audience would ever want to pay for your content if they can get it for free, and that’s what I’m going to be sharing with you today because they absolutely will. By the end of this episode, I hope you’ll see the benefits and have a mindset shift to want to give, give, give because I promise it will pay off!
