As the host country, Cambodia will convene the 13th ASEM Summit on 25th -26th November 2021 via videoconference. This is the first time in history for Cambodia to host this kind of multilateral meeting composed of 53 member states, of which 21 countries from the Asia continent and 30 from Europe. As a small and developing state, Cambodia may face several challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and other developing regional and international issues.

On 28th October 2021, Brunei Darussalam just officially handed over the ASEAN Chair for 2022 to the Kingdom of Cambodia on the margin of the 38th and 39th ASEAN Summits and Related Summit. It is the third time for the Kingdom since its membership in 1999 and this is also the pride and honour of us, as the people of Cambodia, for having received this duty.
