Howdy y'all! It has been a while since we released an episode but here we are back for another life update. In this episode I discuss all the things I've experienced during my trip home so far. If I had to use a word describing this trip it would be: "CELEBRATORY." Listen to find out why!
WARNING: Audio Quality ain't great BUT I'm trying to pawn it off as an artistic choice. My voice is secondary to my little sister Hinemoa's voice, whom makes this podcast supreme! Join us as we discuss our family's magical trip to New York City. We spill a lil family tea while remaining respectful ofc. We mention it all: from learning water safety growing up in New Zealand, to comparing star chart analyses, to exploring Tongan land ownership laws and how The Kingdom has managed to avoid colonization, there really is no stone left unturned on this one.
We have escaped the NYC winter and we are chilling in a Kiwi summer! Love that for us. My famili visited me in New York, which was very special. This beautiful trip left me with many heartfelt moments that felt like a birthday gift in and of itself. We also discuss unconventional birthday gifts, which I think is fun. I'm living such a blessed life and I have so much to be grateful for. I'm at a bit of a crossroads in life but I'm feeling rather calm about it. Romain gave me a bottle of MOËT & CHANDON champagne, which I find really funny.

This is so funny bc when I was doing Mother Darling podcast episodes with Nathan, I accused him once of making his mic louder than mine. Now here I am recording my first guest appearance with Catherine sounding pristine and me sounding like absolute sht. Isn't that funny? No what's even funnier is that they're both Leos. Catherine and Nathan that is. ANYWAY, this audio thing is harder than I imagined. However, with Catherine's blessing and Catherine's blessing only, am I uploading this episode uncut and in its full entirety. It is because I have Catherine's blessing that I am uploading this episode.
tl;dr The Creeps Play by Catherine Waller is a masterpiece and you need to go and see it the next time it comes out in NYC. Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!
I went to a play that my amazingly talented friend from Middle School put on and it got me thinking a lot about the life of an artist. I'm feeling more like myself these days and I hope it carries forward into this episode.
Do you know how to build a good "weak connection" with people? I believe I might have a secret talent at fostering weak connections! I guess I gotta a vibe about me, ya know? I also cried the morning after acupuncture last week and I'm here to talk about it.
My acupuncturist and tarot card readers say I need to have more fun so I went out to dinner and drinks with Michelle and chaotic conversations ensue. I also talk about a successful weekend for my swimmers! Both at the junior and college level. During our drunken debauchery we wonder: what makes "champions?" And how do you define being a good "team player?" Find out what we drunken lasses have to say about it on this latest episode of AMINI PODCAST!
We are feeling a little down so we decided to perk ourselves up with a little incense! We sparked a lil "Moss Garden" by Shoyeido, a Japanese brand. A gem of a smell we discovered at the recommendation of our friend Finn Godbolt. We give credit where credit is due here! Also, we attended a fabulous first birthday party in the West Village this past weekend. Whilst there, we had a deep and meaningful conversation with Michelle Hu (Studio Director for Carlos Nazario) that really invigorated our sense of socialization. Perhaps we should get out more in our last month in New York? We'll see what our favorite Astrologer Dosse-Via has to say about that. Anyway, Michelle and I discussed everything under the sun: from eastern vs. western philosophical thought when faced with fear-based decision making, a form of Chinese flirting called "sa jiao" (撒娇), masculine and feminine energy as it pertains to eastern and western thought, consumerism, and the upcoming economic downturn.
We can't go out on our first season discussing our tragic understanding of the romantic heroine Queen Dido, that'd be mad whack! So, in lieu of this, we decided to make the season finale a two part series. We talk about how we have a great lifestyle and get to sleep in 6 days out of the week. We also discuss food apartheid in America, and how we spend our hard earned coin on nutrition and at Whole Foods. We talk about how we only wear breathable fabric on our skin. We venture into conspiracy territory when talking about the concerted effort made to keep people unhealthy because physically weak people are easier to control. Finally, did a ghost visit us in our bedroom last night? Find out on part 2 of the AMINI PODCAST season finale!
Welcome to Scorpio Szn! It is time for rebirths and letting go of things that no longer serve us. I finally understand the character of Queen Dido in The Virgil's Aeneid. We discuss the idea of "ambiguous loss" and how it inspired Adele to write her Grammy award winning album "21" -- and lastly, we discuss how running into an ex at a bar a couple of weeks ago gave me the apology I needed to finally move on.
Last week I discussed 3 strikes that happened to me in intimate relationships. It is only fair that I share with you all a personal strike that I did myself, which I obviously sincerely regret. Thanks for listening!
It is Libra season and this one is supposed to be all about love and relationships! Recorded under an Aquarius Moon (our Venus placement), we fittingly talk about all the lessons we have learned so far in love and relationships. From "strikes" to "strike scrubbing," we cover everything in between.
We talk about my decision to heal from childhood trauma in a confronting conversation with my father. The over arching theme in this episode is this: if you have the opportunity to fix and heal relationships with your parents regarding your childhood trauma, we encourage you to do so! It can be so cathartic unlocking that inner-child and letting it play and slay, henny, But also, reading "Hold Me Tight" by Sue Johnson taught me a lot about love.
After 2 weeks of the "Amini Cleansing Protocol" I was feeling emo earlier this week. I'm in cheerier spirits because at least I didn't cry today lol. We discuss this mushroom concoction that I add to my coffee consisting of Lion's Mane Mushroom, Cordyceps, Turkey Tail, Reishi, and Ginko Biloba - it is by a company called "Om" that sells at Whole Foods. We also talk about Nicki Minaj's Rolling Loud performance in NY. Azealia Banks has a new track out called "New Bottega" and it is FIRE. We also offer our critiques of her show at Summer Stage.
Recorded under a Leo Moon, I give you my favorite 5 teas for my night-time tea. I promo Muji Teapots (the liter sized ones) for free. I added Valerian Root to this concoction, which I've nicknamed Badussy Tea. Doesn't Valerian Tea smell like Badussy? Badussoir if you're french. WE dive into the messiness that is Rap Beef drama. Is AB trying to get into Onika's head a la Mean Girls @ LaGauardia High School style?
oh yeah and there's an anecdote about staying grateful in there.
I'd been feeling down lately and here are 2 cute anecdotes that put my life into perspective. but also reminded me that sometimes we inspire people and without even realizing!
I also discuss the importance of Magnesium for our bodies and the best time to take it.
P.S. Before bed, always before bed! iTake mine with a zinc supplement, vitmain b6, and 100 billion probiotic by the Garden Of Life.
Thank you for persevering through technical difficulties with us. We sure do appreciate ya!
Notice how everything ran smoothly after we acknowledged our strained relationship with Bill Gates? Interesting.
Oh yes and our gut health tip is about coffee. More specifically: "AMINI'S COFFEE: THE COFFEE OF CHAMPIONS" recipe, which is now available on our website!
I also discuss my trip out to Montauk, NY.
AMINI'S LEMONADE is a drink made out of lemons and not urine, okay!? Amini's Lemonade is good for digestion and it includes:
-- 1/4 Cup of Organic Sugarfree Lemonade (Santa Cruz from Whole Foods is Best)
-- 16 OZ of Spring Water
-- 2 Tablespoons of ACV,
-- and some Ginger Tea Packets (dehydrated + unsweetened) from Trader Joe's AND/OR some Ginger Sprinklings from the spice aisle of your local market.
This episode was taped at 3 AM before getting up at 7 AM to catch a train to go to Montauk.
Taped 8.25.2022 if you want to be eXXXact and preci$e.
Enjoy and Holistic Living Everybody !
Here are some apologies I owe to people.
I also explain my reasoning behind the 2 week stay at Hotel Chelsea.
This is the one where I talk about my Superhuman Probiotic Smoothie Recipe!
Apologies for the sound, much like the rest of the world, we are a work in progress.
Thank you for listening and tell us about your own gut health journey too!
In this episode I explain my long delayed absence from the outside world.
Was I poisoned?
Anyway, we discuss how I'm not necessarily a conspiracy theorist; however, I do like a good conspiracy theory!
I also share part. 1 of Probiotic regimen.
