It’s almost hard to fathom that this beloved character who’s spoken so highly of in more than half of the Bible’s books would also be guilty of breaking half of God’s commandments. David coveted Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba, committed adultery with her effectively stealing her from Uriah, lying to him, and eventually having him. When the prophet Nathan confronts David for his depravity, he immediately repents, confessing his sin. When the son that is born to David and Bathsheba gets sick he fasts, prays, and mourns his sin in an effort to seek God to heal the boy. When the child dies, David simply receives this outcome as God’s judgment. His failure doesn't get the last word.

Light up the World with Joy - Pastor Katie Trinter - 12/12/21 (Luke 1:39-56)
Joy is always shared. The child in Elizabeth’s womb literally leaps for joy…. From this shared joy, Mary is able to share.. How can you be Elizabeth? Find ways that show people you SEE them, you care. Blessing can arrive in not so great circumstances as we recognize God’s purpose in our lives.

Light up the world with Peace - Mary says Yes- Luke 1: 26-38 - Pastor Katie Trinter
Peace is not passive or static --- radical, it’s brave, it’s saying yes to another way. Mary says no to the way of the world-- comfort, safety, personal success, the perception of personal “holiness” -- and instead she risks everything for another way. Mary’s inner peace, allows God to bring peace into the world. Mary gives birth to peace, by bravely letting God’s peace be born in and through her.

Light up the world with Hope - November 28, 2011 - Pastor Katie Trinter
Zechariah and Elizabeth name John the Baptist - Luke 1:57-80 - Zechariah who had been silent/mute, speaks to name his son something new. Not a family name, not the old way, but sings a song of hope about making a way for light to break into the darkness. The way of hope, the way of true worship, is about letting God’s light shine in and through us. On this first Sunday of Advent, consider how God’s light can shine through you!
