Politified is a podcast created to educate its listeners on global politics, hosted and produced by two friends who found a common passion in one another, Amber Stoof and Eline Timmermans. With the goal to make (global) politics more accessible, Politified offers a platform to people of all backgrounds. Through this podcast, Amber & Eline offer a new insight into historic events, political systems, global policies, and numerous more topics that have shaped (and are still shaping) the global political landscape. 2015 has been marked as the year of the refugee crisis when over 1 million people traveled to Europe to seek asylum. It was the biggest influx of refugees since World War II, but it will likely happen again. In light of the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and the tensions at the Belarus-Poland border, this episode addresses what it means to be a refugee and to seek asylum. More so, Amber & Eline discuss EU-level legislation and whether we are ready for a new flow of refugees.
When talking about politics, there is no denying the impact certain nations and leaders can have on the global landscape. Therefore, this episode addresses the three biggest players in the political scene and the characteristics that define their significance. Aside from the US, Russia, and China, there are also several other nations that play a massive role in the shaping of politics.
As the creators of this podcast are two young women who are passionate about politics, "women's rights" is a topic that needed to be addressed in one of the first episodes of Politified. In this episode, Amber and Eline discuss women's suffrage, historic women who left their mark on history, and they go deeper into current initiatives taken by international institutions intended to tighten the gap between men and women.
With new negotiations on the Iran nuclear deal around the corner, this podcast goes deeper into the overarching topic of weapons of mass destruction. The most-well known category of WMD is probably nuclear weapons, however, there are three more categories that are covered in this week's podcast. Is the threat real?
