It's a day that changed the face of America forever; but instead of September 11th being a day we remember fear and terror, how do we make it a day we remember blue sky, heroism, and unity of our country? Captain Kevin Calhoun was a fire fighter on site at the twin towers during the 9/11 attacks who lost 6 members of his company. He recounts the happenings of that day, what it was like rescuing while the buildings burned and were under attack, and the many acts of heroism he witnessed as friends and colleagues gave their lives to save their fellow men. World Day of Refugees is coming up and I thought it would be a great time to hear a first-hand story of migration from a refugee herself. I brought on Desange Kuenihira to share her story of fleeing Congo and Uganada to come live the American Dream. She talks of the adjustments to a new country, how maintaining a positive perspective helped her, and also about her new book coming out on September 27th, "Undefeated Woman."

She shares how her experience with her father's suicide impacted her in her writing process for her new book. She also walks us through techniques to use writing to express, cope with, and overcome trauma.
I also wanted to play a past interview with a mother who lost her son to suicide and how she created a new beginning for herself.
We wrap up with some specific tips and resources on how to deal with a conversation when a friend confides suicidal thoughts to you and how to prevent suicide for yourself and others.
School is back in full swing and to get the most out of your experience, you want to be prepared!
