Rooted Is She: Recent Episodes

April

This is a space for women to emerge. To step into a deeper place in themselves and the love Christ that dwells there. There is something we all have to say, to offer, and to bring to one another as we sit at each other's table of life. I am here to share with you as well as to host a space for others to do the same. Rooted Is She has three foundational cornerstones of purpose. To invite women to Awaken. To encourage women to Rise. To teach women to Overcome. In all three cornerstones the mission is the same. To grow deeper roots into the love of Christ and reflect that love to the world. The foundational scripture for this healing ministry is Ephesians 3:17-19. "So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God." I look forward to sharing space with you, learning with you, embracing process and providence, and growing ever deeper roots into the fertile ground that is the love of our God.

This episode is all about the stress that we wear. Let’s talk about the difference between helpful and harmful stress. Yes…stress can be good, but the kind that most of us are growing accustomed to being draped in everyday is not. I want you to come to understand what your body is telling you about your day to day stress.

Hopefully in this episode you can come to see how you’re relating to the stressors in life and what you can do to improve your relationship with yourself and others.

Less stress = Less mess 🌻

Let’s get rooted!

This is a special episode with a special story. It is one that hits me deep when I tell it and when I hear it and I bet it will hit home for many of you.

This episode is really about losing our voice and learning to have our needs ignored…by ourselves and others. This is an episode about learning to self-abandon and what that looks like for not only one little girl, but millions who are just like her.

Let’s get rooted. 🌻

Welcome friends!

With only a couple episodes left to launch this season I wanted to share something oh so simple and oh so profound with you. It’s rooted in these two truths.

1.) You are already like Jesus.
2.) You have been seated in high places.

These two truths, once fully realized, changes the way we see ourselves and one another. Let’s dig in and grow some deeper roots.

In this episode I’d like to talk about prayer. What does it mean to be raw and real in our prayer life?

For me…it’s messy. It is not always pretty, precise, or by any means perfect. I don’t think God wants pretty. I think he wants real. So I’d like to share with you what I have learned over the past few years in my prayer closet. I also want to share what it’s been like when I haven’t been able to pray.

Join me this week and let’s get rooted in the power of a pure, real, and yes, raw, prayer.

Hey! I know…I know it’s been awhile. I took care of myself and that’s my story and I’ll share it with you.

This episode is about when things fall apart and when we feel like we are on the struggle bus. I would like to share with you some ways how we can go from being on the struggle bus to driving it, but first we have to talk about what happens when it feels like things are crumbling.

Join me in this place of everlasting truth, hope, and real talk. Let’s get rooted!

Oh boy…this one is a doozy.

Rejection is one of the most painful experiences we have in life. On todays episode we unbox the way in which rejection sets the stage for avoidance, lack of intimacy with others, and ultimately a breech in relational intimacy with ourselves.

Jesus knew rejection better than anyone and it’s because of that understanding that He wants to lead us through a healing journey and process into greater freedom, deeper relational intimacy, and a space of deep love for ourselves and others.

Let’s get rooted…

Do you judge yourself frequently? Are you harsh and critical of your emotions, thoughts, and experiences? Are you quick to disregard your grief, pain, and loss or minimize it?

We are diving into the deep reservoir of Gods grace today (and everyday for the rest of our lives) and talking about being a fair witness to ourselves and to others. In this episode I share with you an experience I had with a fair witness and how that changed how I assess and evaluate myself, my inner world, and how it’s helping me to better understand and see others. It’s a process and it is a process toward in personal growth, God, and continuing to understand how God sees and what he sees in me, this world, and all of our lives.

For he is the greatest fair witness of us all. Join me today in choosing to become that fair witness for your heart.

Scripture for today: “Jesus wept.” -John 11:35

P.s. Please excuse the extra noise of my cat Willow playing in the background toward the end and the AC kicking on extra loudly mid-recording. 😂  (I don’t redo or edit episodes…we simply roll with it.)

In today’s episode we talk about how we can come to feel broken in our “mess” and deny ourselves the love and compassion we truly need. I tell you about an experience I had with God where he spoke into my perspective of my wounds…of my perceived brokenness. What he told me was not only for me, but for you.

You are not broken. You are growing. I am here to shed light on the truth of what God sees when he sees your wounds. So pull up a chair or go hammock under a tree (that’s my jam) and let’s grow some roots and rest in the truth of His love for us, which is the greatest of all.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” -1 Cor. 13:13

Welcome to Season 2! This season is all about grace. May we come to know it, experience it, and give it to ourselves and others.

The healing journey is not healing if grace and compassion is not being experienced throughout it. If grace is not the intention we set while we are in the midst of our healing and in the middle of our wounds then we will quickly fall into performance, perfection, and develop a pressure to “get it right” or “fix it” so we can be worthy, loved, and feel like we are enough.

I am so glad your here for this conversation.

Let’s get rooted!

The scripture for this episode is 2 Cor: 12:9
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

It’s our design to be a cup that is overflowing and able to pour into others around us. So how do we do our part to step into that piece of our identity? This week we dive into the answer. This episode is all about how to take care of ourselves, grow deeper into who we are, and learn to accept the truth that we are worthy and loved by a God who calls us by name.

This week is extra special because I have a special guest to share space with and help me share this message!

Denia Monteilh is the owner of Serenity's Baby Spa. That is Oklahoma's very first baby spa recently opened in Broken Arrow. She started her career as a pediatric nurse with experience in the peds ER, newborn nursery, & ICU. She recently expanded her career into motivational coaching & has a passion for pouring into others & helping them become the best versions of themselves.

It was an absolute delight to spend time in her establishment and talk about our identity, how we come to know who we are, and how we grow deeper into that truth while caring for ourselves the way that God intends us to.

Let’s get rooted!

This is a story from Valentine’s Day 2018. It is a story I have come back to again and again in my heart and I think about it every year. I love thinking back on the times that I had a special encounter with God and how those moments helped me to find my identity in His love. I also hope this episode encourages you to step out of your comfort zone, embrace the mystery of encounter, and expand the possibilities of how you can encounter God every day.

Happy Valentines Day!

This episode is all about being rooted in the rock and how our relationship with Jesus, the rock and chief cornerstone, is the foundation upon which we live. In this episode I talk about what happens as we become rooted and how we need one another to grow even deeper.

“The faithful disciple will build his life upon the foundation rock of the gospel of Jesus Christ, rather than upon the shifting sands of man’s wisdom. Such a disciple is “like a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock; and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.”

Episode 4 is all about Overcoming and Becoming. During this episode I talk about the setback and the setup. How God uses all things for good and how He doesn’t waste one single moment of His daughters lives.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
