We both love art and think it should be accessible to everyone, including our aging population. We also understand that bad things happen to people every day, and you have the choice to be positive. Carolina Martin is an Art Teacher by profession; she was blessed to be raised by two practicing Artists. Her mom fought lung cancer for the last 6 years of her life. During the last 2 months of her life, she needed the care of a nursing home. During that time, she saw what was available (and what was missing) for people who loved to participate in hands-on, creative art activities. Upon my mother's passing, she vowed to carry on the legacy of her parents by 'delivering the creative process' through various art activities to people of all ages, abilities & disabilities. She began by teaching art classes at the nursing home that had cared for her mom. Word of mouth grew the area of her services quickly, and the rest, as they say, is history! Working with the right clients is easier. There is a lot of vetting to get to that point that you're not wasting your time. You have to work on understanding what are the right questions to ask your prospects. For example, if you're looking for clients who have a certain budget, you need to use certain buzzwords to assess that. In my industry, I ask about quality and how my customer wants the recipient to feel when they've received the item, it's different for everyone. And you can figure it out over time by trial and error. Good luck!

Episode 12- Who Is Actually Using Your Promotional Material?
It’s nice that you like something, but are you your target audience.
I was talking to non profit trying to raise visibility.
She was thinking of different items. So I dug down and continued to ask questions. What do the people who use her n on-profit:
What do they have in common?
Age range, education level, income. Hobbies, profession, have families? What’s important to them?
And for you, what are you trying to accomplish?
The more answers you are able to come up with, the better you can hone in on your target.
OK now that you found who your target is? What do those people want? What do those people respond to? It turned out for my customer, her affluent very educated people who could buy anything that they wanted we’re not going to be moved by some free swag so I talked to her about creating a limited series of items to create a buzz and to show that town pride that they had and that only people who really cared about this particular thing would want and would want to show proud. It was hit!
These and many more questions are on my intake form it might seem like a pain in the butt to answer all of these questions, but in the end it gets you to where you’re want to be so you’re not buying some thing that none of your customers or your potential customers want.

Something to think about when purchasing promo items is finding something that
is very useful, that your customers will want to continue reusing, so they wonʼt
throw it away. You donʼt have to buy the most expensive travel mug, but when I
purchased some for my business, I made sure they would fit in a standard size
cup holder. It frustrates me when I canʼt travel with my travel mug! I also made
certain the the lid and cup were easy to clean and didnʼt have a lot of nooks and
crannies for dirt to get stuck in. These features were important to me, so I knew
my clients would appreciate them.
