An “Americanized” version of the Grand Prix took place this past weekend and while it was star studded with some of the finest celebrities - it left drivers more stressed and many Americans….confused. A short Q3 and a mix-up in Sunday’s lineup led to a semi-interesting race at Miami’s 2nd GP. It was a tense weekend for Max that ultimately still led him to victory while drivers like Charles and Lewis had a lot to push through. Is Hamilton in a funk? Will Charles end this bad luck of crashing this season? Do we think Perez will ever come on top this season? A wild Friday and Saturday led up to a lackluster Sunday but Megan and Juan recap it all from the Azerbaijan GP. Baku brought tyres flying solo, lots of taps to the wall, and another Red Bull 1-2. Charles was on a high this weekend while drivers like Tsunoda and Gasly had hurdles (and tyres) against them. The gap is closing between Max and Sergio but will that last? Thankfully with a lot less chaos than last year, Megan and Juan wrap up the 2023 F1 Saudi Arabian GP. With a Red Bull 1-2 (although a fun switch up in who finished in which position) and an impressive weekend from Alonso, the grid is starting to separate itself out early on. Alpine is casually sitting in the middle whilst the bottom half are fighting it off, Ferrari, Mercedes, and Aston Martin are on top of each other - and then there’s McLaren. With the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season upon us, Megan and Juan recap of some of their highlights and lowlights from the season. It is officially the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season with the finale taking place once again in Abu Dhabi. While it was already made official that Max was the world champion of 2022 and Red Bull took home the constructors, there was still a battle yet to be won. Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez went into the weekend tied with points and after a close chase from Perez, Leclerc took home second place. There was also the defensive strategy from Alonso behind Vettel in hopes Vettel could enjoy his final race before retirement. While Alonso unfortunately had to DNF in his final race with Alpine, Vettel still managed to finish in points and give us one final send off with the classic donuts. With the last sprint race weekend of the year, Brazil made sure to make it a memorable one. Magnussen got to experience his first pole position and we saw Mercedes (for the first time this year, shockingly) have their first win and 1-2 of the season. With the double header starting in the grand ol’ state of Texas, F1 fanatics geared up for the US GP in Austin by watching Danny Ric ride in on a horse and a possible American F2 driver, Logan Sargeant, hit the grid for FP1. Sainz had a great Saturday and it all ended in the first turn on Sunday. Meanwhile, Stroll had one of the best races of his F1 career, ending halfway due to a collision with Alonso. While Alonso finished the race (in points) he faced a hefty penalty shortly after. Hamilton fans got to experience some nostalgia, watching Hamilton briefly lead the grand prix and have the chance at a win for the first time this season. Finally back in Suzuka but before the race kicked off we heard the exciting and not at all surprising news that Pierre Gasly would be moving to Alpine next year and Nyck De Vries will be taking his place at AlphaTauri. Megan and Juan discuss a bit of that before getting into the serious and concerning event that happened during the second lap when Pierre amongst others noticed a tractor on the track while drivers were passing in blinding conditions. With some more driver news like Zhou and Tsunoda resigning with their respective teams, Latifi was confirmed out, and an expected De Vries and Gasly team update to come shortly - few options remain for Schumacher and Ricciardo next year. After another lengthy break and an hour long rain delay, the largely yellow race of SIngapore got on. It was a huge upset for Mercedes but a win for Sergio Perez as his early lead secured him the win. With some light news on Indycar driver Herta vs. F2 Drugovich and who should be in F1 next year and then the late confirmation on Piastri to McLaren - Megan and Juan discuss the Dutch Grand Prix. Although a relatively calm race, there were some flashbacks to Abu Dhabi for Hamilton with him being kept on the same tyres and Verstappen close behind during a safety car towards the end of the race. There was also Mick in P8 during qualifying and some karma for Alonso as he was stuck behind slow cars at the end of Q1. Will Ferrari have a race without them messing it up for themselves? Back from the silly summer break is a weekend at Spa and like any year it had a series of events to make it memorable. From Alex Albon making it to P6 in Qualifying to Hamiltons’ unfortunate short race and a hit to Bottas from Latifi that left him celebrating his birthday off the grid. Red Bull is once again soaring past the rest of the grid and as expected Ferrari gave Ferrari strategy, leaving Leclerc in P6 after a penalty. We’re a week into the summer break and although all of the recent Formula 1 news is seemingly not calming, it gave us some interesting conversation to start episode 24 with. With yet another disappointing weekend for Ferrari, we get a back-to-back win from Max Verstappen and the Red Bull team. We also see a 2-3 with Mercedes as Hamilton is back near the top at P2. A great weekend for both of those drivers while Perez and Charles struggled a bit. With the summer break ahead of us - only 32 points separate the 2nd and 6th place drivers in the constructors. While Ferrari once again sabotaged Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull saw incredible results from this weekend at Paul Richard. A bit of bumper cars from Zhou and an unlucky weekend for the Haas duo but McLaren & Alpine both saw double points. Leading up to French Grand Prix, we get to know the team on the rise - Mercedes. After winning 8 consecutive constructors championships, it was a surprise to see the team not at the front early into the 2022 season. With a few upgrades already in place and more to come, Lewis and George still have half a season to catch up on lost points. George Russell has had a remarkable streak and Lewis Hamilton is one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history. With a duo like this, so much is yet to come for the team. With what felt like never ending track limit penalties for the entirety of the grid, another race is over. Cooler temperatures left Red Bull struggling a little & if it wasn’t strategy ruining Ferraris race this weekend of course the engine would start on fire near the end of the race. Schumacher and Russell both gave a racey drive with Mick in his highest F1 finish (back to back race points) while Russell made an incredible stride to fourth after taking a 5 second penalty for spinning out Perez. Another wet qualifying and cool Sunday race gave us one of the most intense race weekends of the season. A couple of spins throughout qualifying and a shocking turn of events when Latifi made his Q3 debut, kicking Bottas out of the top 10. Within turn 1 of Sundays race multiple cars were impacted with an intense crash that sent Zhou scarily in between a fence and the barrier. At the same time, Albon was bumped into the wall causing a collision with multiple cars. Thankfully, both drivers are okay thanks to the Halo and the race continued. Intense battles insued and after a nail biting end we were fortunate to see Sainz first win and Micks first f1 points finish. Do you think Ferrari still has a chance at the championships? After an hours delay to the race, Monaco brought on an unpredictable event. After a hot and sunny start to the weekend there was a spout of rain that led to a delayed race, a rolling start and a tense crash from Mick.
