Have you ever heard the slogan “Black Privilege”? Most, I think would say no. My guest Pastor Roy Niedfeldt will discuss what he terms black privilege and why it’s so important that it’s recognized.
Pastor Roy Niedfeldt was born and raised in Cudahy, Wisconsin a southeastern suburb of Milwaukee. For several years, he pastored his church and ran a charity for the previously incarcerated. Syreeta Owens has overcome her past and is now on a new path in life, all because of receiving a pardon. Admittedly, Syreeta acknowledges her past mistakes, leading her to have a felony record early in life. She wanted forgiveness, and that’s just what she received under Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers. Since then, she’s led an exemplary life. She has a BA in Social Work from UW Milwaukee; she is an advocate for Domestic Abuse victims and currently works for the State of Wisconsin as a Probation & Parole Officer.

Tony Viola, a Cleveland, Ohio citizen 10 years ago, was an ordinary successful real estate broker, having built his company with his wife. That all changed after being targeted by a government task force. He spent 10 years in jail before being exonerated. Tony continues the conversation about the misconduct of federal prosecutors, defense attorneys, bank officers, witnesses, and even jurors.
What's happening in the family house and the church house is also happening in the government house - abuse of power and dysfunction.

· Our own accountability – we are in the jury stands. We just can’t point our fingers but need to examine our own activity.
· Fundamental issue – It’s big business. It’s about MONEY.
· Qualified immunity - Citizens should have the opportunity to sue for civil damages.
· Solitary confinement being used as a weapon
· Toxic - Prison is a toxic environment – The corrosive nature of prison. This is not a good place to work.
· Crime is not depreciating even though we have so much incarceration.

· Senator Booker, “It’s a stain on the soul of the country to treat people like this, to incarcerate people like this, to be cruel to people that maybe made a mistake or have an addiction.”
· Letting dangerous people out and keeping people who are not a threat to society inside.

What can you do to help –
- Be accountable ourselves
- Pray for those in authority
- Talk to political representatives and demand change.
- Ask for government accountability
- Reallocate government’s use of resources and authority
- Freeze budgets
- Work with a prison ministry to donate time and financial assistance
- Share ideas and create a national consensus
- start conversations
- If a victim of injustice, take some action and don’t tolerate injustice. People do CARE! Create a blog, reach out to people and find people who have been similarly harmed

· JP Morgan filed no lawsuit

· The Courts have become a drama show, not a place of solemn duty. Prosecutors run the show.
· Three tiers of justice
· Task forces are dangerous because they are being weaponized
· No accountability - failure is a way to get more money
· How their justice starts with a conclusion and works backward instead of starting with a presumption of innocence until proven guilty
· Dawn Pascela, who worked in law enforcement, turned in evidence that was being hidden. For example, the relabeling of computers seized in raids and saying they didn't exist. Dawn is now dead.
· No such thing as reasonable doubt.

He spent over 10 years in prison before winning his second trial from prison and being exonerated after a whistleblower came forward. The Imprisonment of Grief
We can go through grief by not holding onto the idea of the strangeness of it. Spurgeon's morning devotion from May 31st points to 2 Samuel 15:13.
This morning’s devotion spoke of:
· Kidron the filthy brook that flowed through Jerusalem as being symbolic of sorrow.
· David being both the Lord’s Anointed and the Lord’s Afflicted. “Why then should we expect to escape? At sorrow’s gates…”
· King Jesus himself having to go over the brook Kidron too. Specifically quoting, “In all our afflictions he was afflicted.”
Spurgeon says, “The idea of strangeness in our trials must be banished at once and forever, for he who is the Head of all saints, knows by experience the grief which we think so peculiar.”
The idea of strangeness is allowing our thought patterns to determine this experience is something abnormal. It leads to unhealthy thoughts and actions.
How a death in the family can cause chaos and confusion and lead to a spiritual, mental, and physical prison.
Mostly when a death happens in a family, there is strife. The Enemy uses this time to bring division. We must stay on guard.

Kristin Henning is the author of the book Rage of Innocence: How America Criminalizes Black Youth.
She is a Blume Professor of Law and the Director of the Juvenile Justice Clinic and Initiative at Georgetown Law. She and her law students represent youth accused of delinquency in Washington, DC. some honors she’s received are the 2021 Juvenile Leadership Price, the Robert E. Shepherd Jr. Award for Excellence in Juvenile Defense from NJDC, and the Shanara Gilbert Award from the American Association of Law School.

I have some exciting news! A Prisoner’s Pardon children’s book is coming out in two weeks just in time for Christmas. It’s called Pharoah’s Butler and Baker. It’s written for kids but has a message for all ages and that is to Rest Your Case on Grace. If you know the biblical account in Genesis, it’s based on the actual case of Joseph when he was imprisoned and interpreted the dreams of both the butler and the baker who were also in prison and tells the outcome of both their cases.
The reason for this book is to encourage fathers especially those who are or have been in prison to read to their children. A father bonding with their children is critical and the most important thing a father can do in life. This is just what I allude to in my upcoming memoir book A Prisoner’s Pardon. It’s one of the findings at least to the cause of why we have such a high rate of recidivism. It is also based on this case of Pharaoh’s Butler and Baker.
We don’t just talk about solutions, we here at A Prisoner’s Pardon take part bringing about the solution. The book A Prisoner’s Pardon is due out in Spring 2023 and let’s just say you will be amazed at the reasons and solution to recidivism.

The reason for this book is to encourage fathers especially those who are or have been in prison to read to their children. Quick recap on why show was started. Inspired by my upcoming book Prisoner's Pardon. Book due out this Fall. We recognize the need for prison reform in the physical sense and understand men and women are locked up due to the breakdown of the family. Specifically, the missing father who is the leader of the home is not there to carryout his duties as a father. The Bible calls him the strong man. It's stated in Mark 3:27 (NKJV - No one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.) The main point of podcast is to bring attention to saints those who are now regenerated (born again) by Christ is the strong man too. We are being bound up and held in a spiritual prison and now need prison reform in the spiritual sense. The pardon given by Christ is the answer for this just as it is for when we first got saved. Our binding as saints is our testimony. The enemy steals our testimony. We have to recognize this is what he is doing because he understands if he can shut us down, we won't get our full reward and that includes saving others. This is critical about this binding listen to what it says in Mathew. In Mathew 18:18 NKJ it says, "Assuredely, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Because we are bound he is able to steal from us and this effects the very world we live in. There is hope and it's the only way. It is God's plan for perfect reform. Call it a reform bill if you like. The Bible says in Rev. 12:11 ...And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. This verse is the foundational verse for the podcast and for everything Princess Pen underwrites. Window of Opportunity I’ve been seeing this a lot lately in my own life as well as in others. When one is in a spiritual prison or even physical one, they miss these windows of opportunities. What is a window of opportunity? A window of opportunity is a short, often fleeting time period during which a rare and desired action can be taken. Once the window closes, the opportunity may never come again. Important points to look at so we understand the significance of not missing it. Point 1 – Short Point 2 – Rare Point 3 – Opportunity – desired action Bible reference to a window of opportunity: John 5:1-9 - For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water; whosever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. One can be in a prison so long that they become institutionalize and no longer think like a free person would. They will never see these windows or if they see it they don’t even try anymore. No hope. In Christ there is hope: If we’re in Christ we are free and no one can shut the door which God has opened Revelation 3:8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; There is hope – Jesus asked him “do you want to be made well?” The most important opportunity of one’s life is this one....John 3:16 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life Opportunities: My flowers I picked in my backyard – rare because no flower pedal is the same Accepting Christ Obedient Pushing the button for the Podcast Stepping out in faith When you miss these opportunities – recognize, ask for forgiveness, repent and then start obeying. Welcome to our first show for Prisoner's Pardon Podcast hosted by Michi-J. The episode talks about the inspiration for the show, why you should listen and also encourage others. The podcast is an outgrowth of the book A Prisoner's Pardon book due out Fall 2021. The memoir book authored by Michi-J describes her search for an answer to recidivism that is repeat offenders going back and forth to prison. Her twin brother for over 30 years has been in this cycle and now is presently in prison. During her search, she found that she just like her twin was in a prison and was going back and forth as well. Her prison was different because it was spiritual. Although, no bars, it's effects were the same. She was in a continual cycle of frustration and despair at not being able to complete some important missions. The podcast reveals what spiritual prisons are, the enemy behind it and how to avoid his captivity. Most people are unaware of spiritual prisons because its invisible. Although, very similar to physical prisons, there are some differences that one should know.
